Did Yoda put up a good fight against Sidious?

I've been struck lately at the disparity in opinions about the Yoda/Sidious duel. Some people feel Yoda was totally beaten, and others feel that he showed himself to be just as powerful as Sidious (possibly even more so).

What's your take on the matter?

 

I say that he put up a good fight considering he had several hundred years on Sidious. Also, I think Yoda was a bit overconfident in assessing the strength of the Sith...I don't think Yoda came to that battle fully prepared, but he adapted well even if he had to ultimately cut his losses.

 

He put up a pretty good fight. I thinks Palps was little too much for Yoda to handle and fortunately he got away in one piece.

I thought that the only logical conclusion of that scene was that Palps and Yoda were equals of each other. Yoda just had the misfortune of standing on the wrong side of the senate pod when that force bubble blew up. Reminded me of that fight between Neo and Smith in The Matrix Revolutions.

I think he lost, but I wouldn't go so far as to say Sidious was his superior by far. But Yoda definitely looks beaten when Bail picks him up.

 

In my opinion, it was a very good fight.

Billy_Shears was right. The fight scene was extremely similar to the climatic fight between Neo and Agent Smith at the end of The Matrix Revolutions. It's a fight between two exact opposites, positive and negative, who are too evenly matched for one to destroy the other.

I feel that he put up a decent fight. What was said earlier about opposites is my opinion on this matter as well.

 

A very very good fight. So good, that I was convinced he would win! But, since I know the outcome going into the movie, it kinda loses the thunder after I leave the theater shaking off the goosebumps

 

I think he did well. Sidious was a master of the Dark Side, so he had a bit of an advantage....

Man some of you people keep thinking that he "lost" . Yoda fought Sids very well.

I say, if it was a solid ground duel, the outcome would have been different.

 

Of course he put up a good fight.

It was the fight of his life, he gave it everything he had.

It was an unfair arena, the advantage was CLEARLY to Sidious

I think he did. He did what he could, but I think he underestimated Sidious and was ragged by him in the end.
