This news has raised some concerns on other various boards I visit.

Here is a cut and past of one of my recent posts.

    -----------------------------------------------------------
    From the USA Today,

Disney is buying Lucasfilm for $4 billion, adding the legendary Star Wars franchise to the entertainment giant's stable of characters. Lucasfilm is 100% owned by founder George Lucas. The purchase culminates a one and a half year pursuit of the Lucas empire, Disney's CEO said.

    MORE: Reaction to the news

Lucas, who receives 40 million Disney shares from the deal, will be the second-largest non-institutional shareholder of Disney, Bloomberg News says, behind the trust of deceased Apple co-founder Steve Jobs.

The 68-year-old Lucas will serve as a creative consultant but plans to retire.

"For the past 35 years, one of my greatest pleasures has been to see Star Wars passed from one generation to the next," said Lucas, chairman and CEO of Lucasfilm, in a statement. "It's now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers."

    ------------------------------------

    From me,

Looking forward to Episode 400, A Last Hope.

    But seriously,

Star Wars can be found all over the world,
in events both small and large,
that have little connection to a single specific event
    at any Disney Theme Park.

Every aspect, from One Man Star Wars, to Weird Al, to the smallest charity troop for any reason,
will have to consider the change from a corporation and franchise that are in the control of,
or strongly influence by Mr. Lucas,

    to

    A coporation of StockHolders.

My hope is that a corporation of Stockholders,
can see how fan participation makes them successfull.

I am not ashamed to say I will watch anything Star Wars. I'm invested in the brand. I don't care if Episode VII is 120 minutes of Mickey Mouse playing the Star Wars arcade game... I'm there.

The news blew my mind. So much I had to stop what I was doing and think about a world where Star Wars was something to be anticipated again. I think after George Lucas constantly said there would be no more movies, we all finally gave up on hope.

What kind of year is it that has seen both Notre Dame and Star Wars rise from irrelevance to unbridled anticipation?

My only conclusion is that I will die this year.

I am more confused than anything. In this video released by starwars.com, Lucas says "I always said I wasn't going to do any more...", but then says "I have story treatments of 7, 8, and 9...". I'm kinda disappointed about the double talk, but obviously it is his creation to do with as he pleases. In the end, I feel the same as Xmaveric - I will be in the lines at the premiere of the next movie (and all the others) because Star Wars is part of me.

And I would LOVE to see this, especially in 3D:

I never gave up hope that there was going to be more Star Wars movies. I also knew that there will be more one way or the other. I am excited about the upcoming Star Wars live action T.V. series too! That is if they (Disney) are still going to do it. I know that they had already had a lot written for the series, but I don't know if they have actually filmed anything yet. I so want to take a part in the filming of these new films. I don't care if I am just a screen extra or a key grip. I would really love to be able to do some writing! I went to school to become a writer because of the impact Star Wars has had on my life. Although I have not really written much of late, I still hold fast to the dream of being a writer in one form or other. One way or another, I will find a way to be part of the filming experience for Star Wars!

That is pretty good! I hope that isn't the case. I know Disney likes to insert things from other movies into their new ones. Hopefully they don't do that to Star Wars.
