ST Disney Theme Park Attractions to be based on VIII-IX

From what I understand, the themed-land is "set" shortly before The Force Awakens. They're aiming for an immersive experience, which is harder if you're just throwing everything from every trilogy into one location.

I mean I don't really care one way or the other, I'm going to want to live there anyway, but I get the rationale.

Part of me is sad that kids these days will think of the OT3 as they are in the ST and not how us older folks remember them XD

Tho I like to think that concientious parents are showing their kids the OT before taking their kids to TFA...a girl can dream, right??? DX

 

What is the likelihood of seeing these fantastic new worlds in movies?

 

I wouldn't be surprised if there is off-hand reference to it, or maybe an appearance in something like a novel or comic, but probably NOT in the movies. Disney will want a plausible narrative for the experience, rather than one framed by a film. But dang, it LOOKS better than I even hoped. My hype level is rising to ridiculous levels. I'm not a fan of the Universal Studios parks, but they did a FANTASTIC job on the Wizarding World lands. The Star Wars expansions look like they are going to blow those away, which is something I assume Disney was shooting for.

The diorama builders missed the opportunity to have the Disneyland Railroad occasionally roll past the front of it, like this scene from Top Secret!

Galaxy's Edge

They announced a Star Wars resort officially as well as Galaxy's Edge. I saw elsewhere that Hondo is going to be one of the characters at GE as well...

 

Excitement Rising....

Can't wait for the park, NOT excited about the wait times. If Avatar land was generating 6-hour wait times, just imagine how long the lines will be in Galaxy's Edge? (feels weird typing the name)

Hey pick up the novel, Thrawn: Alliances. Only about 100 pages in but a bunch is set at Black Spire and Batuu. so I think it's the first official canon theme park to have a official canon tie-in prequel novel.

 

Have you tried it? Would love to experience this new attraction.

 

Just to update this for everyone: right now, it appears Galaxy's Edge is "set" after Episodes VII and VIII, and before Episode IX. Someone correct me if I'm mistaken, please and thank you.

 

Never been to DisneyWorld but plan on visiting when this thing is finished

Well Star Tours was in an episode of The Clone Wars.

 

tru dat! only difference here is Black Spire has gotten drops in Solo and Battu/Black Spire are a huge part of the early bit of the Thrawn: Alliances novel.

 

So...I'm taking the family to Disneyland. Assumed I'd miss Galaxy's Edge by months, and had made peace with that. Am arriving in mid May.

Looks like I'll now only miss it by a couple of weeks.
