Do Jedi get paid?

Just a simple question.....The Jedi work for the Republic and the Jedi Order, but do they get paid money in order to live their lives, or is everything provided for them?

 

Doubt it.

 

No thay were not paid Jedi are humbel and dont live sepreat lives it will cause them to go to the dark side

 

But how do you explain Obi_Wan having a drink? Thats like a seperate life

 

well maybe a little bit of money like for food and stuff but not alot?

 

i guess so....maybe thats explains why Qui-Gon had republic credits to ship parts....i doubt its his own

 

I'm going to guess that Jedi simply have a "tab" that the Republic picked up to pay for their expenses while they were upholding peace in the Republic. Hence why Kenobi could just walk in and get a drink without any problems.

So, not really "paid" in a traditional sense, but taken care of. Which makes sense, since Jedi don't (shouldn't) have attachments and therefore not many possesions.

I would think they would have to get some type of pay. In TPM, Palpatine tells Anakin on Naboo that he will watch his career with great interest. This to me means that being a Jedi is a job.

The jedi are an order..like the Knights of the round Table. a jOb much like getting paid is against their code. The do it cause they want to, not cause they have to. Im sure they have credit cause they are jedi Knights....would you ask a jedi to pay for a drink?

Posession is forbidden by Jedi Code, so probably no. But I recon they do recive some necessery money for their missions.

 

How do you define "possession", every Jedi "posseses" a lightsaber, a cloak, etc...

 

I assume they are given food and shelter in the Jedi temple, and thus would have no other need for money. Of course, they would be supplied with money to use in the course of their various missions for the republic (thus Qui-Gon having 20,000 republic credits)

Just like the US military.. when they go out on missions they have a certain amount of money they can use for lodging and food and necessities.. per diem plus their regular pay... I believe that's how it was with the Jedi, without the regular pay.

Some posessions are necessary. Jedi can't walk around naked and they wouldn't be of any use without their weapon.

They do not get paid and they get no vacation time either. If they were paid or received time off, surely Anakin would have bought and/or rescued his mother during winter recess long before AOTC, no? The Senate built them this enormous Jedi Temple, but other than that, they receive nothing.

They don't even have to use the bathroom, as you've never seen a Jedi pee or poop in the movies. This is because they need little sustenance. That is why they are all so trim, except Anakin who puts on some weight by the time of ROTS because he's always eating Natalie Portman's home cooking. They dont' even exercise.

Jedi have powers that sustain them, hence the advanced age of Yoda. The midichlorians take care of them. If I had the Force, I wouldn't need anything either.
