This world is over 4 billion years old, it is safe to say it will continue for a long time beyond 2012.

No, not at all. I'm kind of expecting a slight increase in suicides as the year gets closer to the date though, because of people who actually do think it is the case.

I fully expect it to end on January 1, 2013, though. Because the universe likes irony and gallows humor.

See here's the thing -- it's a calendar. That's it.

I don't know, maybe the Mayans got bored at some point and decided to draw up a calendar for a few hundred years. I doubt they thought their civilization was going to end so they just stopped with the calendar, thinking they could finish it some other time.

Could the world end 2012? Sure. Because a bunch of idiot people might just blow our planet up, who knows?

But I seriously doubt it'll have anything to do with the Mayan calendar.

I don't believe that it will end this year, but I believe there is every chance it could end this year.

 

According to Chris Jericho it was supposed to end last night at the Royal Rumble. I'm betting he was rethinking that prediction as he flew off the ring apron to the floor at the end.

 

In December, I'll be investing in as many diaper companies as possible. Lots of unsafe sex when you believe the world is ending!
