Do you want a Rogue Squadron movie?

 

Apparently it is an open question whether or not people do. So far it looks like: yes, they do. This is me being surprised.

 

Not really, but I'll take it.

When Rogue One was announced i believed it was a Rogue Squadron movie i was disappointed that it wasnt so yes i truly want to see a Rogue Squadron movie also want to see Corran Horn in live action but i think the new movie will not be about Wedge Antilles i hope im wrong

 

Only if Uwe Boll directs.

The question is multifaceted for me:

Do I want a Rogue Squadron film as currently conceived, taking place after the ST? Sure. Keep pushing forward.

Do I want a film about Rogue Squadron as originally conceived, taking place during the OT? Also sure. The OT era is overplayed, but good characters and good story could give it enough potential. Heck, set it in between ESB and ROTJ, tie in the Bothans, and you've got some thematic connective tissue to Rogue One.

AND. I think you could round out a thematic trilogy by setting another Rogue film about the early days of the Resistance and the rise of the First Order. There's some narrative bridging needed there.

 

Only if Rogue Squadron switches to A-wings. If that happens best since Return of the Jedi.

 

I don't need to start a poll to know that people want a STAR WARS helicopter movie (and series), Rotor Squadron.

 

Another question is how low is RS on anyone's list,

Would you rather have like me:

1. KOTOR
2. A Vader movie set after Obi-wan
3. Heir to the Empire cross over movie with the big 3 back using the same de-aging technology as Luke in the Mandalorian/ Boba Fett
4. TFA prequel showing the Jedi Academy with Luke and Ben
5. A Darth Maul movie set after Solo
6. A Yoda movie set before TPM
7. Live Action Rebels
8. The High Republic
9. The Force Unleashed
10. Jedi Fallen order

I would STRONGLY prefer Rogue Squadron to any of those choices except POSSIBLY Knights of the Old Republic (era - I wouldn't want an adaptation of an existing story).

 

On that list I see maybe 2 ideas with the potential for a good movie, but none of them interest me as much as RS. Not even close.

 

And I want it set between ESB and ROTJ

 

Fandom is a big tent. I can say that of that list of 10, the only one I would remotely think about paying money for is the Live Action Rebels, and I'd wonder "Why bother?" The animated series told the story perfectly. Another Vader movie? The prequels and the OT were, frankly, all about Vader. His fall and his redemption arc. What else is there to say? I'm not really interested the others. At all.

But as I said, fandom is a big tent. I'm sure there are fans who would love one of these movies. I'm just not one of them. So, for the rest of us, we'll look forward to the Rogues. And if something from the list of ten is made, then some of the other fans will be happy, so hey, great. I'm not going to complain that it shouldn't have been made because I'd rather see something else. Disney spent millions on this franchise. They're keen to make that money back. Eventually, everyone will get something they really want to see.
