Do you wear glasses or contacts or nothing?

Glasses - I'm very shortsighted. But I should have contacts soon.

 

Glasses. It fools people into thinking I'm intelligent.

 

The reason I posted these two polls is that I am an optician and was curious about the wearing habits of our SW populace. Since I work for an optometrist I wear both, but I predominantly wear my glasses. I get better vision and I like the fashion aspect of eyewear. My CL's are mostly when I need convenience or I am playing sports.

 

Contacts.

 

I wear glasses.

 

Both. I'm short sighted, and CL's are convenient alternatives for sports and other activities, such as night club dancing and concerts, where I might have my glasses damaged or lost if they were being worn.

But I prefer my glasses in general as I think they're uber-funky, and I feel more comfortable with them on.

Right now, I wear glasses (and hate them- too many years behind thick lenses do this to you!). I would like to try the laser cure, but right now it's too expensive for me, and terribly painful for some people, so...

AT60, do you have any idea how many people have some sort of correction? It's far more common to need something than not.

 

I have glasses, but I generally don't wear them very often because my vision isn't terribly bad (I'm a bit near-sighted). Somehow I manage to survive without them for most of the time . I tried contacts once, but I had an allergic reaction to them and decided not to get them.

 

I'm allergic to some contact lens materials. Just because you failed with one brand doesn't necessarily mean you can't wear CL's. I found that I can wear contacts made of different materials. There are so many soft contact lens manufacturers and material types, that there is probably something that could work for you.

I wear glasses, because my parents have agreed to let me wear contacts when I am 17. I am just afraid I won't be able to wear them when I get them, my best friend always had red eyes after her contacts are in for a long time.

 

Well contacts aren't really meant to be worn overnight. as long as you blink frequently contacts shouldn't cause that kind of irritation.

Actually, KR I think it may have also been kind of a psychological thing, too. I'm not big with foreign objects in my body, especially my eyes!

 

For some reason, my eyes have always been good. Mine is something alittle less than 20/20.

My brother does wear glasses, and so does my mother. My dad only wears them for reading though, and just got them about 4-5 years ago. I have a feeling I won't be getting them for awhile

 

I can even see kind of well in the dark.

 

About 90% of the population needs help with reading around the age of 40.

 

I wear contacts. I'm supposed to use them for two weeks then use another pair, but I usually go about a month or so with each pair. But I don't wear them to sleep. Most of my friends that wear them do wear them to sleep, so I'm considering trying. It'll allow me to sleep two more minutes in the morning before school.
