How comes the Ruth Doctor calls herself Doctor, when we have been told by the Master that the Doctor Chose his name as a child (assumable with the Master or around the same time based on them being friends at the time)?

Well the whole issue of the Doc's origin has been thrown in the air and I would imagine they'll be revisiting it and revising and etc. quite a bit , some of it could be the Master's manipulation as well .
Then when we get a new showrunner they'll reverse it probably.

 

It'll be like that whole Hybrid thing: a big, world-changing revelation that shakes the Doctor to his soul...then is promptly retconned, forgotten or just ignored.

I figure they've been placed in charge of enforcing social distancing.

 

Malcolm Hulke was one of the greatest writers Classic Who ever had, but he did wear his Socialism (he'd been a member of the CPGB and had a MI5 file) on his sleeve. All of his military antagonists (Carrington/Baker/Finch) in DW are all right-wing "patriot" types ("what has this world come to!" "I didn't fight Hitler for this!').

 

Incoming message from the Doctor about our current predicament:

 

I just finished the latest season. I don't understand why people are so down on it. Yeah, the messages of some episodes were so hamfisted the Doctor was almost speaking to the camera. Yeah, "the Doctor is super super special" kinda gets annoying... but that's been NuWho the whole time, hasn't it? I thought it was a hell of a lot more coherent than most Moffat plot resolutions even though there's the obvious "so where did the Doctor come from?" question. I like Jodie Whittaker, I like Graham, I like the hammy Master, I liked some of the stories. I'm used to this show being wildly inconsistent and having iffy dialog and being loose with continuity since it's always been that way.
