Does anybody actually LIKE Starsailor?

Let me tell you a secret. Fellow 'rock fan'. I happen to like Slipknot. What exactly gives you the right to tell other people what does and does not suck? Slipknot are about as commercialized as your ass.

 

Oh? ***** is obviously the word nowadays for people who can make music in which the 27'th bar doesn't sound exactly the same as the first evidently.

 

Well, at least we agree that we don't like Starsailor.

What gives me the right ? Oh I dunno , 2 1/2 years in the music industry , and a wide range of musical education . I was raised on Springsteen , Nilsson , Yes and Sabbath . I graduated onto my own tastes , keeping the early influences with me . I worked with music , i dealt with all forms , I listened to every genre . And I think it can be said that i know music . So when i say Slipknot are commercialised , talentless ********s , manipulating the kids for thier own profit ... I tend to know that the hell i'm talking about .

Don't twist my words . I never said that . In fact , if you read my posts , you'd see I actually prove quite different to that ... please refer to the post where I offer Sepultura a little respect , stating that i'm not personally fussed on them . I like to think i'm offering a fairly educated point of view , as opposed to the run of the mill Kerrang/Metal hammer pre fabricated 'I love Slipknot' response .

I try to give every bit of music a go..but what I don't like about Slipknot, Papa Rouch and Fred Durst..is their obvious spin on Teen Angst...which say's to me what they are appealing to well 'Teenagers'..and considering when I was a teen I was into Luther Vandross..well...I can't take those fella's seriously

Personally I find this quite a bigotted statement.

 

Well, I like to think about myself as a thorougly well-educated music enthusiast. I've been listening to good stuff all my life, I've worked in a record shop, have friends who work for Radio and throughout the business... and I like Slipknot.

But then again, I also like Steps...

I don't really have much time to dis others' tastes. I prefer to just big up whatever I feel is worth listening to at the moment.

Just because you have a wide taste in musical genres DOES NOT MEAN that when you say something is crap, it is. It just proves the fact that you are closed minded and arrogent. And with that I think I'm going to retire for the evening. Good day.

If I were to call you a dumb rock kid , following the trend and just getting behind slipknot to appear cool for his goth friends , that would be bigoted . But I wouldn't do that because
a) I don't know you properly and
b) I credit you with more intelligence than that from your posts .
