I thoroughly enjoyed doing the Oprah Show and she is a terrific lady that knows her topics very well. She did a great "hands" comparison with me on the set and remembered it enough to ask me to be on her new tv show this year..."I've got a Secret"... unfortunately, it didn't take her panel very long to guess who I was... I think they suspected when they saw me walk in...
The Special Edition was a great improvement, but my wife misses the "yub yub song"...

This is a rather unimportant question for you, Mr. Mayhew, so you don't have to answer it, but I am curious: Is Chewbacca left-handed or right-handed?

Most book stores that carry magazines have them and I've also seen a lot of them at On Cue stores. However, I'm from Minnesota and I dont know if On Cue is even out east.

Mr. Mayhew, thanks for answering so many questions, and being so gracious. This is terrific. And as someone who normally avoids spoilers, thank you for being so thoughtful about keeping them to a minimum in this thread (though I must say, it was well worth the risk to come in here when I heard you were posting! :)).

My question...I saw an MTV special on their movie awards, and they mentioned that when you got the award, Chewie went to the after parties, and people were coming up and talking to him like normal, even though he just growled back. :) Was that true? Did you find it funny how people reacted to you that night? I love picturing Chewbacca just hanging around at an MTV party... :)

Peter, I could have sworn I saw an article a while back that said you were asked about wether or not you would be available for one or both of the next two films, by George Lucas himself.

Also, I would like to add to your courage to talk about the holiday special.

I know it was not even close to the films or anything, but I break out my copy of it every once in a while, and people think it is hillarious.

And that cartoon that introduced Boba Fett was pretty cool. Kind of on the psychadelic side, but still cool, in it's own stylized way.

As many have said, it would be interesting to see Chewie, even as a cameo, with other wookies fighting against the Empire in Ep.III but eventually being enslaved. George Lucas could pull that off brilliantly.
One of the greatest problems with the Empire was its following so blindly to Palpy's utter racist attitude (much akin to Hitler's utter hatred of Jews). I would imagine a scene in Ep III with Wookies and other non-human species being loaded onto spaceships (as opposed to railcars) and paraded through streets with humans geering and calling them names.
I wrote to Rebel Rumblings (Letters the the editor for the Insider) when the lady who played Greedo was quoted as calling Greedo a monster. I said that in the SW Universe, most of what we see are sentient beings and very few "monsters". I used Chewie as an example saying that we wouldn't call him a monster just because he wasn't human. I was thrilled to see a small printing of my letter in the 50th issue celebration just above one from Nathan Hamill!
In light of all this, how do you think you would feel, Peter, having to play a very different, non-heroic role in Ep. III. Perhaps being reduced from the brave (except in the garbage masher!) heroic Wookie friend to a beaten, loathed hairy alien? How would you see yourself playing this role and what are your views of this type of racism?

I lived in Yorkshire for a year while attending university at York University (as part of an education abroad program.) It's a beautiful place. I have vivid memories of walking over pristine hills and valleys, while enjoying the genuine charm and friendliness of the locals. Plus, the old city of York is a treasure in itself.

I'm curious: How do you find Texas after having lived in Yorkshire?

    Cheers,

    Andrew

I think that the confrontation should be in EP2, as opposed to 3. But I am in total agreement that we need to see some Wookies tearin the arms off of Storm Troopers or what not. Also, I just wish to thank Mr. Mayhew for making another of my dreams come true. Now if only I could get there in person and get an autograph. I also think that they could have killed Threepio. He just whined all the time anyway. "we're doomed, we're doomed, my head's on backwards"

I really enjoyed the party after the MTV Awards. Everyone was congratulatory and very gracious. As to being stared at in a room, that happens every day and I take no notice of it anymore. What I did enjoy was watching Will Smith and Mike Meyers and others standing up and cheering for Chewie. It was the only standing ovation of the night and it went on for about five minutes. Gosh!!

But really, I loved Yorkshire and I love Texas although they are truly world's apart. Both are friendly places, but Texas is mostly flat...but it's so BIG... I like big!! It suits me well. And the heat doesn't bother me much <he says writing from inside the refrigerator>

Do you think Chewie and Jar Jar could be good friends?
