Discussion Does the ST’s lack of a lineage twist reveal how much of a crutch that was for the OT?

The ST is a brand new Corvette that looked back on the history of the Corvette and respected the past while delivering a superior vehicle with enhancements all over.

    Still want dad issues?
The ST has them in Ben Solo to Han Solo and Luke still had some lingering Dark Side problems from his own dad

Tired of dated 1980s C3PO and Ewok humor? The ST has terrific quips, situational gags, and some hilarious physical comedy on offer for you.

Wished you could see what Vader and Luke teaming up could have looked like? The ST is giving us that glimpse with Rey and Ben Solo.

Tired of cliched training montages that dominated from the 1980s action movies? The ST shrinks those down.

Tired of waiting until the end of a trilogy to get your hero’s first decent saber fight or Force moments? The ST fixes this by giving Rey a backstory of a kid who had to fight to survive, allowing her to be more combat ready sooner.

Want two opposite attracts Force users with a ton of sexual tension in Star Wars? We’re getting it.

Tired of slow saber fights with as much chroreography as a toddler dance recital? The ST’s Praetorian guard sequence is already one of the franchise’s best.

Ever wondered why Hyperdpace wasn’t weaponized? Seems like it should be by now, right? Well, thankfully the ST thought of that, too!

Tired of seeing your hero retreating to metal islands and trying to commit suicide like Luke did in TESB? Don’t worry. Rey doesn’t do that!

Want to see new Force powers for Masters? Well, we get some Force lightening but also mind bridges and bolt stasis and Astral projection!

Yes, it lacks the lineage twist of the OT but it’s absence of one also shows just how reliant on one the OT really was on that one twist and how the OT can be improved upon beyond that lineage twist.

    ;-)

Fox's non-commital to a franchise back in 77 forced GL into dropping that particular crutch. But the irony is that the film's success without relying on Vader being Luke's father gave Lucas the funds to finance his own crutch ridden sequels that steadily got less successful as a result.
