I was just wondering, We see Kamino as a rainy, watery place, but do you think the sun ever shines on Kamino?

Thank you for editing your entire topic and replacing the content in an attempt to make me look an idiot.

I dunno Vaders_Clone, I suppose the sun does shine, but not very often... maybe like a week or two in a year? Otherwise the water level would probably rise of the Kaminoan buildings, if some of it didn't evaporate...

I think it does shine, just not very often. From parts in the Episode II novelization I'd think that it does shine now and then. Though Jango Fett wonders in it why the Kaminoans have windows, since there's not much to see he concludes.

Why are there then clouds on Coruscant? It's entirely urban with no oceans.

LOL, I was discussing weather on Coruscant the other day with my mom..It'd obivously still have an atmosphere (gravity doesn't just go away) but clouds? I don't know about that..maybe there's artificial oceans or some such..anyhow...I'd imagine the sun does shine on Kamino, every now and then..

It adds new meaning to the phrase, "Stick it where the sun don't shine!" People aren't being crude, they're just telling you to take it to Kamino!

No it rains constantly on Kamino and they don't receive any sun showers. Jango and Boba have to go through special radiating machines to restore the vitamin D to their skin and tan them. :)

Good point..if the sun doesn't shine on Kamino, then Boba and especially Jango would be pasty fellows, and so would the clones..

Not necessarily. The indoor lights could be simulated sunlight, with the proper color temperature and UV and all that. Since the Kaminoans are professional cloners, I'd suspect they have taken such things into consideration.

I suppose it does: but it'd probably be a weak winter-sun type of thing...you know when it's hidden behind the clouds and everything has a grey-ish tint?

I'll stop while I still make sense to myself...

If you look closely the sun breaks through the clouds in several places on Kamino. There are sunbeems in most every shot to break up the clouds and to add depth of field....

    Well, here's a relevant Ep.3 Spoiler....

There's going to be a musical number on Kamino in Ep.3, where Anakin, rather Annie, comes out and sings the line... "The sun will come out tommorrow."
Amazingly, the sun comes out on Kamino and this proves that he's the "Chosen One".

I think the sequence ends with Obi-Wan "borrowing" a line from The Crow... "It can't rain all the time."
I'm not sure if that "homage" will survive the final cut though.

    Lol.

I suspect that part of the planet gets a lot of rain, and part of it doesn't. Think about it. If all of Kamino rained all the time, that'd be totally defying the water cycle. So there would be no clouds at all and it couldn't rain anymore.

The novelisation might have mentioned something about Kamino's climate, but I can't remember. Lama Su does say that Obi-wan arrived at "the best part of the season".

The novelisation also shows Boba and Jango fishing when the rain has just come down to a drizzle. I think the sun shines too.

    Who cares about scientific logic.
If GL says it always rains, it always rains.
He's the god of this universe & has created a universe not subject to the physical laws that our's is.

You might as well ask "How can there be a force?"

Well Lucas never provided any evidence that the entire planet rains constantly, or even that the area around Tipoca City rains constantly. So, until he does, we'll just have to assume that Kamino follows basic scientific principles.
