    Han wallpaper

    The corners looked so empty, and I didn't want to add another face pic to fill in the space. So I took parts of a starfield I worked on last night and stuck them behind the pics. I was inspired. :)

    Yea! You got the Han one completed! :D

    I really like the incorporation of the starfield. I think it adds an extra notch to it. But I think you're right about the corners - everything seems bunched toward the center. Just a suggestion, but I would move the images apart a little bit so that it appears that the take up a little bit more space. :)

    I really don't like the Han/Chewie pic because it crowds Han to one side. Unfortunately, that's how the publicity still was shot. I could do what I did for one of the Luke pics in the ROTJ wallpaper and somehow add a little negative space to give Han more room to be Han.

    Hmm, now that you mention it, the center image does seem to be taking up a lot of space and crowding the others. Maybe the approach you mentioned would work out. Afterall, good use of negative space always heightens the quality of work, IMO. ;)

    The big disadvantage of working with pics is that you're pretty much at the mercy of the photographer (and whoever crops the pics when they put them online). I'm not yet savvy enough with PE to make that a non-issue, though.

    I know what you mean. But isn't there an option or a tool for cropping? I'm not familiar with PE, but in PS there is a cropping tool to eliminate this problem.

    That pic was cropped, and I resized it, too. In reality I may have erased too much. Anyway, I'm looking at ways to get some space in that pic. I'll keep you posted! :D

    For now, I'm going to put the Han wallpaper aside for a while. Looking at it too much. :p Maybe I can come back to it later with fresh eyes.

    Now I need something else to do...

    Aww, yea that'll do it. I do that way too often myself. Oh well, take your time with it. :)

    Some bric-a-brac:

    Men in Brown logo

    My poor gradients! :( A long tme ago I wanted to do a parody poster, but I couldn't figure out how to do it. I still can't do the light glow behind the logo that's in the original poster.

    [face_laugh] Hey, that's pretty cool! Nice concept - I really like it! :D

    Hmm, for the outer glow, do you have an actual thing for that? Like in a drop-down menu or something?

    There is, but in Elements you can't manipulate it as much as you can in full PS (you can't change the colors, stuff like that). For instance, I don't use Outer Glow for my lightsaber blades; I pick out the color I'm actually going to use and fill it in. I do use the Levels to change glow colors, but the results can be pretty iffy, especially if you've got a background color other than black.

    To get the effect I'm looking for, I'll have to be a little more creative. [face_devil]

    Before you start you must know that the only way to make this work to your advantage is to tinker with it for your needs. e.g. changing the numbers a bit.

    Ok start off with a small round circle in the middle (and it needs to be in the middle) of a black background, merge them together (Ctrl+e).

    [image=http://odj310388.com/other/pictures/tut/1.gif]

    Then go to Filter> Distort> Polar Co-ordinates. Make sure you select the Polar to retangular option.

    [image=http://odj310388.com/other/pictures/tut/2.gif]

    Then go to Image> Rotate Canvas> 90 CW

    [image=http://odj310388.com/other/pictures/tut/3.gif]

    Then go to Filter> Stylise> Wind.
    Method: Wind
    From: Right (3 times)
    From: Left (3 times)

    [image=http://odj310388.com/other/pictures/tut/4.gif]

    Then go to Image> Rotate Canvas> 90 CCW

    [image=http://odj310388.com/other/pictures/tut/5.gif]

    Then go to Filter> Disort> Polar Co-ordinates.
    This time select the rectangular to polar option.

    [image=http://odj310388.com/other/pictures/tut/6.gif]

    Then Filter> Blur> Radial Blur.
    Ammount: 100.
    Blur Method: Zoom.
    Quality: Best.

    [image=http://odj310388.com/other/pictures/tut/7.gif]

    Then Filter> Blur> Radial Blur.
    Ammount: 20.
    Blur Method: Spin.
    Quality: Best.

    [image=http://odj310388.com/other/pictures/tut/8.gif]

    Then press Ctrl+t and press the little link button between the 2 100's then change 1 100 to 200 and click the tick on the right.

    [image=http://odj310388.com/other/pictures/tut/9.gif]

    Then go to Image> Adjustements> Colour Balance.
    Change the options to whatever colour you want.

    [image=http://odj310388.com/other/pictures/tut/10.gif]

    you can then import the layer into a image and set its 'layer mode' to either lighten, screen, colour dodge or linear dodge. Pick whichever suits you best.

    [image=http://odj310388.com/other/pictures/tut/fin.jpg]

    Hope that helps. :)

    Much thanks!

    I did a variation of your method and another tutorial for the redux. (Elements can be a pain sometimes. :rolleyes: ) Inserted one of my trusty starfields, too. :D

    Whoop-Sith can mock-up

    This is another old project I've gone back to. The Maul pic had already been done, but I couldn't figure out how to warp the letters to make them convincing. I'm still not happy with it. Once I do get it right, I'm going to put it in a poster.

    LOL!!! Another good one, DotF!

    You mentioned about the letters not bending at the right angle - well, "Sith" looks fine, I think the only thing that is standing out is the "W". I'm not quite sure what tool you could use to fix that in your program, though.

    DOTF is there a button in elements like this?

    [image=http://img89.exs.cx/img89/4885/button2rm.gif]

    If so click it and select 'Arch'. If the can is pointing down like yours was the use a minus value but if it is pointing up use a plus value. :)

    Daughter_of the force you MIB is great, but Obj-310388 does a better job.
