I was just wondering, Drabbo should I move mine to Beyond or keep it in Saga since it's so close to ROTJ?

Okay, now I'm going to have to think up new Before and Beyond drabbles.

Layren, I think your initial instinct was good; Saga seems the more appropriate to me.

Darn, I woke up with a couple ideas for more in Before and Saga, but starting work at 3am made them leak right out of my head. :(

There's actually a book out there called The World's Shortest Stories, where each story is only 55 words, and most have a crazy little twist at the end. They're awesome. :)

Posted a Drabble in Beyond, following the little twist idea. :D

I've posted a corresponding challenge in my JC Title Challenge thread. We have five title nominations each round and 4 don't win, so I've challenged participants to take one or more of the discarded titles and write a drabble for it. Feel free to head over there to participate as well.

That sounds wonderful. It's always fun to watch a writer answer multiple challenges with a single response. :)

I think I've settled on what my next challenge will be, and I'll put it up sometime in the coming week.

On the other hand, why wait? As you can see, I've gone ahead and posted the new challenge a few days early. Don't worry, though. If you want to post a drabble, that challenge will stay open for as long as this thread is here.

You tempted me with the second challenge, Drabbo. I couldn?t resist ;).

    Posted response in Beyond thread.

    That was fast. :)

This was one of three challenges I was considering for this spot. My first choice had to be set aside for now because one of the other challenges is just close enough that it'd look like I was copying.

As for this one, I'm going to let it run a bit longer -- probably three weeks or so -- before I put up a new challenge, since some responses may take some time to write.

As for what I intend to do, well... [face_mischief]

Drabbo, there's just something about your challenges.

I added another one to the Saga, a combination drabble, style parody. :)

Added a drabble to the Saga!

I like these, because you have to say a lot in a short space... and it doesn't take long to read through them all :D

I'm looking forward to everyone's responses to the second challenge. :)

There's something of a surfeit of challenges at the moment, so I'm going to wait until the end of the month to post another.

Remember, your response can be in the style of a genre or of a specific work, if it's distinctive enough.

So, the escape from the death star written as a Harlequin romance novel would be a style parody, right?

Yes, it might be tempting to imagine the Jedi Purges as done by Quentin Tarantino, but this isn't the place for that.

DANGIT! That would be such a good pastiche  In QT's version of SW, lightsabres don't cauterize nothin'

Well, right now the only pastiche's I've written have been of F. Scott Fitzgerald and Chinua Achebe. Those would make for some interesting SW fic styles, to say the least :p

This is a great, fun challenge. I've always enjoyed pastiching. I mean, I kind of do it in my writing anyway (all those film noir influences show up). I don't know if I'll have time to participate in this one, though. I'll try to read them!

Yes, they would be. And you can still do them. I haven't finished my response to Challenge II yet, either.

In the interim, though, I've now put up the third challenge. Any questions?
