    C-3PO:
    In this series C-3PO is still the same worrywart droid that we all know and love. The only real difference is that his cartoon version eyes actually blink and at one point or was seen crying...or was that just the rain? During the series of three cycles 3PO has three masters or groups of masters as the case may be. He frequently ends up in a mess with the rest of the group laughing.

    [image=http://www.lucasfan.com/swtv/mj04.jpg]
    R2-D2:
    The only noticable different in R2 in this series is the fact that he seems to have more gadgets in him than possible including grappling hooks, parachutes, his own little lightsaber, and just about anything else they could possibly need. R2's always there to help out. At one point R2 and 3PO are in an oil bath and when a toy animal pops up 3PO tells R2 never to bring his toys into the bath unless he can share in which up comes another toy animal to everyone's amusement. R2 is even temporarily shrunk in the last episode allowing him to slip past the enemy's guards.

    [image=http://www.lucasfan.com/swtv/ww6.jpg]
    Thall Jobin:
    Thall met up with R2 and 3PO on Ingo where he had lived all his life. He loved to build and race landspeeders; especially with his best friend, Jord Dusat. Thall was 17 when he found R2 and 3PO in the early days of the Empire. Thall's pride and joy was the White Witch, a speeder that Thall and Jord had spent countless hours perfecting and at the begining of the series is nearly finished.

    [image=http://www.lucasfan.com/swtv/ww11.jpg]
    Jord Dusat:
    Jord was also from Ingo where he grew up with his best friend and competitor, Thall Jobin. Jord learned to race speeders over the desolate, crater-studded acid salt flats. Jord dreamed of flying his new speeder, the White Witch at a tournament but was injured so Thall had to take over.

    [image=http://www.lucasfan.com/swtv/ww8.jpg]
    Kea Moll:
    Kea was a young and athletic seventeen-year-old when she first met 3PO and R2. She lived on her mother's farm complex on the planet Annoo. She was also a very able pilot. After they all won the speeder tournament Thall, Jord, and Kea were offered jobs at a large speeder company but the droids memories would had have to have been washed for them to come so they decided not to take the job. R2 and 3PO overhearing their conversation, left in an escape pod so their friends could take the jobs.

    Demma Moll:
    Demma Moll was a reserved women who in her forties had a daughter, Kea Moll. Demma owned a farm on Annoo that the Fromm Gang desperately wanted to take over but Demma secretely built a team of rebels to take out Fromm's weapon satellite, the Trigon One.

    [image=http://www.lucasfan.com/swtv/ww24.jpg]
    Sise Fromm:
    Sise Fromm was an old and powerful crime boss who operated out of a stronghold on Annoo. He was a member of the Annoo-dat species and considers himself the "crown king of crime." He had a legitimate import/export business which fronted for his illegal crime business. His son Tig attempted to fall in his fathers footsteps using newer technology. Later in the series, after 3PO's gang stole the Trigon One, Sise employed Boba Fett to take out all of 3PO's gang but after getting his speeder blown up, Fett decided to turn the Fromm's over to Jabba the Hutt for a reward.

    [image=http://www.lucasfan.com/swtv/ww10.jpg]
    Tig Fromm:
    Tig Fromm was the Annoo-dat son of Sise Fromm. Tig operated his own little gang off of Ingo in accordance with his fathers. Tig however liked to employ the newest technology unlike his father which usually backfired on him. Tig went by such names as Baby-Face Fromm and Junior Fromm though some called him 'Tiggy' to Tig's annoyance. His biggest feat was the Trigon One which he built with his father but it was soon stolen and shut down by C-3PO's gang. After further attempts to kill 3PO and R2's friends he was soon captured by Boba Fett to be taken to Jabba the Hutt for a bounty.

    I didn't like it as well as the Ewok series, though.

    Anyone remember the old Droids Theme?

    steppin? softly in a danger zone
    no weapons in my hand
    it?s just this brain, designed by man
    it?s got me in trouble again
    in trouble again
    I put my life in jeopardy
    in the service of my friends
    I wouldn?t care but it?s a dangerous affair
    ?cause I?m in trouble again, trouble again
    in trouble, in trouble, in trouble

    Ah yeah that was a great song. You know what i did like the most of this series: That it was co-written by Anthony Daniels and it feautered his voice too. Something that maybye will not happen with the Clone Wars series.

    More trivia:

    I believe* that the music (maybe lyrics too, I'm not sure) was written by one Stuart Copeland. As in, the guy from The Police, Mr. Sting's old pop band.

    There ya go!

    Ahh yes, Droids. I remember this from when it was first on, and I have them all on video thanks to the Sci-Fi Channel's non-defunct block of morning cartoons. I always felt they were kind of a mixed bag. Some were good, some were downright stupid. I'll have to di that video out and watch some of these agin.

    And, just to be technical, R2-D2's voice was always listed as "Himself."

    Here's a biography of Artoo-Deetoo I wrote. Everything in it is completely accurate and unbiased--just ask Artoo. ;)

    Artoo Deetoo: the Little Droid Who Saved the Galaxy (A Lot!)

    Honor. Courage. Integrity. These are traits found in most members of the
    Rebel Alliance, but none can hope to match the extraordinary career
    of--Artoo Deetoo. Although many a being has mistaken him for a waste
    receptacle, Artoo is actually a born mechanic and pilot, an able tactician,
    and a master of Dejarik holo-chess.

    R2-D2 began life in an Industrial Automations factory on the planet Nubia,
    but he was soon shipped to Naboo, where the plucky little astromech 'droid
    served the Royal Security Forces with pride. Young Artoo possessed an
    astounding work ethic, matched only by his love for practical jokes. He
    soon earned a reputation as a hard worker--and a prankster. Artoo also had
    a passion for travel, and travel he did, whether as part of the RSF's Bravo
    Squadron or the astromech team aboard the Royal Starship. He showed courage
    under fire when he repaired the Royal Starship's shield generator while the
    ship was being attacked by Trade Federation forces. His friends in the
    astromech team all perished, but Artoo stood by his post and saved all
    aboard. Later, he met a protocol-droid-in-progress named See Threepio, who
    would become his life-long friend, and, with the help of Anakin Skywlker, Artoo
    destroyed the Droid Control ship orbiting Naboo.

    Following the Battle of Naboo, Artoo proved adept in the political arena,
    becoming assigned to the personal staff of Senator Padme Amidala. Just
    before the Clone Wars he was reunited with C-3PO, and the pair were
    witnesses at the marriage of Padme and Anakin Skywalker. Several years
    later the two droids came into the possession of the Intergalactic Droid
    Agency. On one assignment, Artoo was damaged when he saved the inhabitants
    of the planet Dodz from a gladiator 'droid. He saved the life of Chirpa the
    Ewok on Endor, prevented war from breaking out between the planets Alzar and
    Sooma, served in a racing crew on Boonta, destroyed the Trigon-I on
    Annoo-Dat, escaped from Aaron, and assisted Prince Julpa in his coronation
    on Tammuz-an. He was then drafted into the service of the Royal House of
    Tammuz-an, where Artoo drew on his experiences in the RSF. He saved the
    planet when he defeated the pirate Kybo Ren by blowing up his Star
    Destroyer, and later terminated the Great Heep on Biitu.

    But Artoo's heroics were not limited to military victories. The 'droid had
    a flair for archeology as well, which he demonstrated by recovering the
    priceless Roon Stones. After this triumph he returned to everyday heroism:
    smashing the Sith assassin 'droid C-3PX, saving young Nak Pittareeze, ending
    the criminal activities of Olag Greck, and preventing both a galactic
    savorium crisis, and a war in the Tion Homogeny.

    Eventually, Artoo made his way into service of the Royal House of Alderaan,
    where he proved worthy of carrying the Death Star plans. But life wasn't
    all fun and adventures for the little 'droid. Prejudice against 'droids
    reared its ugly head at the Mos Eisley Cantina, where the bartender refused
    to serve him. Artoo recovered from the incident, and flew with Luke
    Skywalker at the Battle of Yavin until he was blasted by onetime owner Darth
    Vader. After he was repaired, Artoo was sent to escort Governor Zissu to
    Delantine. Over the next three years he made himself an invaluable member
    of the Rebel Alliance. He mapped the Super Star Destroyer Executor at
    Fondor, reprogrammed an army of Imperial assassin droids on Tatooine, was
    present during the Rebel mission to Ord Mantell, and led an attempt to
    recover an Imperial probe on Verdanth.

    After Alliance evacuated their base on Hoth, Artoo traveled to Dagobah,
    where he sparred with the Jedi Master Yoda. After three months spent
    assisting Luke Skywalker in his Jedi training, Artoo attempted to rescue Han
    Solo on Bespin. Although he failed in this mission, the 'droid did manage
    to hold

    I remember watching Droids (and the Ewok cartoon) on Saturday mornings. Even though at the time, I figured this explained the origins of C3PO and R2-D2. Who knew (besides GL) that this was just a seperate plotline in their path towards a reunion with the Skywalker family.

    It would be very cool if GL got those people working in the Archives to dig up the old cartoon series...to go along with the CLONE WARS miniseries DVD.

    You know what would be cool? Have "The Great Heep" as a special bonus on the Clone Wars Cartoon DVD. Maybe throw in the Boba Fett cartoon from the Holiday Special.
