I'm really hoping The Bad Batch will eventually throw in some references to Droids. Under the Legends continuity, Droids takes placce 4 years after the Clone Wars, so they take part in similar timeframes. It would be cool if characters like Mungo Baobab and the From gang showed up.

I don't think it will happen this season, but it could happen next season.

It's so catchy. I don't even care that it deviates from typical Star Wars music.

    Stuart Copeland is a genius.

Not Bad Batch, but the "Fromm Gang" is mentioned in one of the new Marvel comics, "War of the Bounty Hunters" issue #2.

That's pretty cool. I don't really read the comics, but I appreciate little stuff like that. I'm glad these old shows haven't been forgotten.

That delicious synth-rock soundtrack is the main reason I watch this show [face_love]

I would love it if they name-drop Kybo Ren :p

I have a feeling that if Droids received a second season, they would eventually have done a crossover with the Ewoks cartoon. I realise they did do this in the comics, but a full TV special (in the same vein as The Great Heep) would have been pretty darn cool.

I think they would just use Hondo since he is now the go-to funnyman space pirate. But name-dropping a pirate called "Kybo" would be pretty neat. Perhaps Hondo's crew left with him, which would explain what happened to them before Rebels.

So once Droids was added to Disney+, I gave it a full watch. I watched the show when it was on air as an 8 year old, so I remembered very little. I will say, despite being done by an animation house I was never fond of, it's still pretty good. The theme song from Copeland is great, and the stories are not dumb. Funny that even then there was a story about pod (speeder) racing.

I really don't feel the urge to rewatch Ewoks but I watched the whole run of droids and it's pretty interesting, the music is super-aces, and it feels a bit more like a PT era content (mostly the wacky aliens) which is weird considering it came out decades before the PT itself. Great Heep is still happily bananas.

I've noticed this too. I think it's the show's emphasis on alien cultures (i.e. Tammuz-an) and the Empire's diminished relevance, with the exception of the final arc surrounding Mungo Baobab. Otherwise the show is mostly a bunch of adventure serials involving pirates and gangsters. I find the series easy to reconcile with the canon timeline. All you really need to accept is that R2 and C3PO were briefly separated from the Tantive-IV.

Coming out the Clone Wars, the Empire hadn't reached its peak yet and the Rebellion was in its infancy. Like the show, there would be a degree of lawlessness in such a scenario (look at the Russia and the fall of the USSR). There's a degree of optimism surrounding the Empire. Jann Tosh actually goes off to join the Imperial Academy, much like Luke wanted to in ANH. Smaller dictators, such as Govenor Koong, are also looking to ally with the Empire.

In a way, the series did found the groundwork for content that would appear in the prequel era and EU. You see the early beginnings of the Boonta Eve classic, the Baobab mercantile clan is introduced, Bogden is mentioned and you see General Grievous' wheelbike in the show. That's why I'm hoping stuff from this show might appear in the Bad Batch.

Some potential good news for Droids and Ewoks fans. According to Fantha Tracks, they may be releasing both series on Blu-ray DVD. They were allegedly listed for a while, although they appear to have been taken down.

    https://www.fanthatracks.com/news/f...he-ewoks-and-droids-complete-animated-series/

It's far from an official confirmation. But I figured some of you would appreciate hearing it, especially since Droids and Ewoks never received a full/worthwhile physical release.

  15. This Show has Very Obscure Lore references like the Great Heep is an Abominor a species from the Yuuzhan Vong Galaxy so the Great Heep from this Show came from the Yuuzhan Vong Galaxy, Thall Joben has a Lightsaber probably was from one of the Jedi who fell to Order 66, there is a Character called Kybo Ren maybe the name of Kylo Ren was inspired by this Character maybe the Droids Episodes in TCW was a Tribute to this Show

I'm almost done rewatching Droids on Disney+ and two problems stick out to me:

    1. They seem to use the same credits for every single episode. Every episode has a section in the credits for "The Adventures of Mungo Baobab." Why?

    2. Most episodes look great. Some even look like they may have been scanned from the original film masters. But The Great Heep looks horrible by comparison, basically like an old VHS rip, only without the static, discoloration or shakiness. Very grainy. Is it like this for everyone, or was my connection just bad at the time?

Wouldn't it be wild if we got Droids and Ewoks on Blu-ray before The Mandalorian?
