That's a great deal on the Kevin Smith flicks. Most of mine I bought for $22-29+ when they first hit. If you are a fan of his and haven't gotten/rented 'An Evening With Kevin Smith' you should check it out!

The free Hellboy DVD is pretty cool- lost of trailers and behind the scenes stuffs.

Thats probably because the movie stunk. While targeting younger viewers, it tries to sneek in the toilet & fart jokes & some mild foul language. Its not one I would personally recommend for the little tykes. :p

If you are an older Michael Myers fan, might I recommend, "So, I married an Axe Murderer"for $12.99 at Circuit City (has a $19.99 sticker on it). This movie is, in my opinion, one of Myers' BEST and it pre-dates Austin Powers.

    In Myers classic Irish voice"
    "Down heeeead! MOVE!!!"
"Look at the gargantuine cranium on that boy!"
"Its like Sputnik. I think it even has its own weather system!"

It looks like everyone (Circuit City, Best Buy, Target)except for Wallyworld is listing The Rundown starring the ROCK & Christopher Walkin for $15.99. Wal-mart is listing it for $19.99, but I believe they match prices if you bring in an add from another store. Amazon.comis listing it for $22.93! :p WOW!

Also, this is not a DVD, but The Punisher soundtrack is being listed at Circuit City & Best Buy for $11.99 while Wally World is listing it for $14.99

I'm sure Zach can fill y'all in on the rest of the DVD deals for the week. ;) :)

Well, since I'll be away from the office most this week there is a small chance that I won't make it for an update this week (computer at home is too slow & sometimes tells me it can't find a page). But I will try to do the update.

Since I'll be at the MSC this coming weekend I won't get a Sunday paper so there is a very real danger of no up date for the 3/30/04 releases.

At Circuit City, I also saw Gothika starring Hale Barry for $15.99 . It looked interesting, but I never got around to seeing it. RENTAL!!! I also saw Splash starring Tom Hanks & Darryl Hana for $19.99. This is definitely a classic and the film that made Tom Hanks a household name. Darryl Hana is also at her best in this one as the ditsy, emotional (and sometimes butt-naked) mermaid. I believe this was her first major role since Blade Runner.

BTW, on Zach's recommendation, I picked up the soundtrack for KILL BILL & I absolutely LOVE it!!! Thanks for the recommendation :D

Vol 1 of KILL BILL comes out on DVD April 13th & Vol 2 hits theaters April 16th. According to Toymaster, this was an awesome movie. I'm sorry I missed it in October when it came out. I just got too busy w/ all my Pumpkin carving stuff :(

Well since I've been away from a high-speed computer, I've been AWOL from my DVD duties. So just for archive sakes, here's the deals for the week of 3/21/04 to 3/27/04:

Gothika: CC & BB had it for $15.99. Think WMT had it for $14.87.
Rundown: Rock's hit was $14.87 at WMT and $15.99 at BB.
Dirty Pretty Things: Target had it for $17.99.
Will & Grace (Season2): CC had it for $29.99. BB had both seasons for $34.99 with a $15 savings when purchasing both.
Cops: The individual volumes of "Bad Girls," "Caught in the Act," & "Shots Fired" were individually available for $9.99 at CC & possibly BB. BB & CC had the 3 volume set for $29.99.
Splash (20th Anniv. Edt.) & Ransom (SE): Each set was $19.99 at CC, but included a free Movie Cash ticket for The Ladykillers that was valid 3/26-4/30/04.
The Richard Pryor Show: The 3-disc set was $25.99 at BB.

That was the most important deals of that week. The deals for this week are to follow.

Better late than never. This appears to be Chainsaw Murder week for all of Texas. Here are the deals for the week of 3/28/04 to 4/03/04:
The Texas Chainsaw Massacure: The single DVD recent version of the film is $15.99 at Best Buy, Circuit City, and Target (think Wal-Mart has it for little under $15, but that's unconfirmed). BB will sell you both the old & new versions of the flick for $25. If you're a big horror freak (glances at Toymaster) then you'll want to check out the Platinum Series 2-DVD set. This set features never-before-seen content, commentaries, movie trailer, alternate opening & ending, plus a collectible metal plaque (insert for the cover of the disc). Circuit City has this PE version for $24.99, but for $29.99 at Best Buy they'll also give you the original version of the film for free.
Something's Gotta Give: Finally you can get a good view of Diane Keaton's infamous streak (more an attraction for my old man, than for me). The title is $15.99 at Circuit City, but if you want "A Few Good Men" or "As Good As It Gets" then you can have 2 films of Nicholson for $22. BB will give you this film & "As Good As It Gets" for only $20.
CSI (Season 3): The 6-disc set is $55.67 (there about) at Wal-Mart. If you're catching up on past seasons then check out BB. Here's the rundown for them: S3 is $64.99 while S1 & S2 are $69.99. Buy 2 save $15; All 3 saves you $40.
Brother Bear: The animated hit is $17.99 at CC & Target. BB's price could not be determined with the info that is available.
Transformers Armada: Great Battles: The best of disc is $10.99 at Best Buy.
Ripley's Game: The John Malkovich flick is $17.99 at Target.
Panic Room (SE): Jodie Foster's film is bick with cast commentary & BTS footage. If you buy the 3-disc set from BB for $31.99 you get for free 1 of the following: Taxi Driver, Dr. Strangelove, Black Hawk Down, Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind, or Lawrence of Arabia. Does not include superbit, deluxe or SE versions.

See Best Buy's website for their 3 for $30 deals.

I went to my Wal-Mart tonight and couldn't believe the great films that can be found for $9.44 there. Many include new extras and special features.
CC's $8.99 deals: BarberShop, Legally Blonde, Bull Durham, Dark Blue, Hoosiers, West Side Story.
Target's $10 deals: XXX, Bend It Like Beckham, Dirty Dancing (UE), My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Signs, The Hot Chick, Anger Management, & Maid in Manhattan. Fair warning that many of these films are only available in the dreaded FF/FS format (no WS).

That should do it for the great deals of the week. There's a little more than 2 days left for these deals so go for them if you're game. Hopefully I should be better about this column next week.

Yes, I'm late again so here we go for the week of 4/4/04 to 4/10/04:
Matrix Revolutions: Find the 2-disc set for $15.99 at Best Buy, Circuit City and Target. BB will sell you this film and one of the earlier 2 films for $25. BB also offers a free "Matrix Revolutions" bonus promo CD-ROM card on specially marked packages.
Friends (Season 7): Find the newest 4-disc set for $29.99 at the same 3 retailers listed above.
Cheaper By the Dozen (2004): The Steve Martin remake of the 1950 classic is $15.99 at Target and Circuit City. Target includes a "Stuff by Hillary Duff" commemorative charm on specially marked packages (it's a a pink "clapper board" with the # 12 on it). If you purchase the 2004 version along with the 1950 version ($9.99) at CC you'll save $5 on your total purchase.
In Living Color (Season 1): Let me show you something! See Jim Carrey on his way up in life and JLo before she was Beniffer on the 3-disc set that includes commentary from Tommy Davidson for $29.99 at BB, Target, & CC.
Freaks & Geeks (Complete Series): This audience favorite comes on a 6-disc set with all 18 episodes (that's only 3 eps per disc) for $44.99 at Circuit City.
The Pink Panther: Get "The Pink Panther," "A Shot in the Dark," "The Pink Panther Strikes Again," "Revenge of the Pink Panther," & " Trail of the Pink Panther" along with a bonus disc with 2 featurettes & 6 original Panther cartoon shorts. The 6-disc set is $44.99 at Target & Circuit City.
Police Academy (20th Anniv. SE): The film that made Steve Gutenberg a star is $14.99 at Best Buy and includes commentary by many of the cast members.
Charlie's Angels (Season 2): Catch up with the original angels (not sure when Farrah left) on the 6-disc set for $39.99 at Best Buy.
Lion King 1 1/2 & Spy Kids 3D: Both of these films are $14.99 at Circuit City.
The Grapes of Wrath: The John Ford & Henry Fonda classic that was banned in the USSR (find out why at the bottom of this post) is new to DVD for $9.99 at Best Buy.
Sesame Street's "What's the Name of that Song?": The Elmo DVD & song book set is $9.99 at Target & Circuit City.

That'll about do it for this week. Target also has $10 and $7.50 deals, but at this point in the week you'll have to swing by your local Target and see what's still available. Next week sees the release of Kill Bill Vol. 1. See Trivia answer below.

Answer to "Grapes of Wrath" trivia: The USSR banned this film because it showed that even the poorest Americans owned a car, a luxery unknown to most Soviet citizens in Stalinist Russia.

On time for once! Deals for the week of 4/11/04 to 4/17/04:

Booty Call (The Bootiest Edition): CC has this film for $12.99 & includes a free movie ticket to "Breakin' All The Rules."

While I agree with you that Target should have printed an Ad for this week despite the holiday, I COMMEND them for giving their employees the day off to worship & celebrate Easter Sunday with their families. In MY book, there is nothing wrong with that. :)

I went to TARGET this morning & picked up Kill-Bill for $15.99 .

Too bad Metro government doesn't consider Easter a paid holiday. Probably because everyone who decides what is and isn't a paid holiday already has Sundays off.

Booty Call (The Bootiest Edition) <-- This cracked me up.

I commend Target for the day off, I was shocked when I saw the sign on the door Friday when I was shopping. I fortunatly had Easter off, but it was because I requested it long ago, not because Chili's had a big heart or anything...guess I can't totally fault them, as long as people don't want to host their families in their homes on holidays, there will always be resturant corporations eagerly wanting their piece of the dollar at the cost of employee's observance and time with their own families...

"..."So, I married an Axe Murderer"for $12.99 at Circuit City (has a $19.99 sticker on it)"

Man- great price. I've had it on video for years, but haven't picked up the DVD because it's always $25+.

"We have a piper down- I repeat, a piper is DOWN!"

The Scottish matial arts bit is great, too.

Any word on the next Buffy (season 6 I think- may be delayed because of the show switching networks about then) or Smallville (season 2)?

Just for clarification, the screw-up I was referring to for Target was in not printing the ad. I had no problems with them shutting down for the Lord's day. That's another reason why a Target ad should still have been printed; to further let consumers know that there was no reason to come to the store on Sunday. They could have made a big announcement on the front page of the ad, "We're closed this Sunday, but come find the deals on Monday morning!"

Lin, I don't have the answer you seek right now, but when I do look for them in the DVD thread.

I just wanted to add that for Wild Things, a new Unrated version was also released. That is $9.99 at Circuit City, so if you buy both there it is $29.98. Instead of $30 at Best Buy. Of course, I just made BB price match CC.
