Gaming E3 2021 (and Summer Game Fest) - Discussion Thread (Starts June 12th to June 15th)

Show Fable dammit! I don’t care about Forza crap.

 

If Fable is really being shown it's the show stopper at this point.

Ok Redfall looks sweet but I wanted Fable.

 

Well that was easily the best show so far. I could imagine purchasing some of the games being advertised, and at no time did I long for the embrace of death to save me from the Embracer Group.

 

After two years of no in person E3, they're probably going to go all out for next year's event.

 

You might be wrong; there's pretty legitimate discussion about whether in-person E3 press conferences ever happens again. The ESA might fully transition to a fan event to try and make some revenue (thus finishing the floor show transition that was underway before the pandemic), but is currently getting in fights about the future of streaming negotiations.

 

While also defending "surprise mechanics"?

 

The ESA is a gross corporate lobbying organization and does gross corporate lobbying. I don't know why people were so surprised by that.

 

Oh, not surprised. Then again, why would I be, having watched the Jimquisition?

 

I imagine they’ll at least do one more. But yea, it’s not the premiere event it once was. Especially as it seems like all the major studios are pulling out and doing their own thing.

I actually see something similar happening with San Diego Comic Con, where it no longer will be the center of the pop culture universe, as more and more film studios seem to be wanting to do their own thing, and are slowly pulling out of SDCC to make their own big announcements.

 

Yeah, corporately there seems to be a sense of : "And we need you because?"

This is actually more painful than those Embracer Group conferences because I like some Square Enix games and they seem to be punishing me for that.

Okay, I'm into this Team Ninja remake of FF1 or whatever they're going for, even with this Nomura nonsense and everyone saying "Chaos" so much it has become meaningless.

Still, on the whole that was... extremely dire.

 

Seriously? No FF16...

 

Everything got sacrificed to Disney's money. Gotta spend 30 minutes showing off the middling quality licensed title. Gotta waste time talking about the old Avengers game. Just... ugh.

 

Very intrigued by Starfield. Can't wait for more of a look at that.

 

I’d rather have TES 6 personally but I ll be getting Star for sure.

 

That Final Fantasy Origins game looked so bland. Some were saying it had a "so bad, it is good " vibe, but I didn't see that in it. I was hoping for some FF16 news, but from what I gathered on the net, there is a better chance of seeing it whenever Sony does their State of Play event, at TGS 2021, or some other event. Of course, that is assuming that they (Square) even feel like showing anything this year. Fingers crossed because I really liked what I saw in the trailer; the game's website also struck my fancy with all of the lore stuff.
