I am surprised there is no existing thread about this game. Elite: Dangerous is the sequel to the original Elite on the BBC Micro: It's a space combat/trading/mining style game coming out on December 16th 2014. The combat feels very similar to Star Wars. I been watching this on Scott Manley's Youtube, its one of the main reason why I am planning on building a PC.
This looks rather interesting, I'm going to keep an eye on it. Though, if I wish to play a game like this, I'll definitely need a gaming PC.
I'm running it on my 4 year old laptop @ around 25fps on average: i5-2410M AMD 6650M 1GB 4GB DDR3 The game is not that demanding. A few recent pics: Spoiler: Pics!
I was just admitting to seasoned Elite Dangerous players that I had just fallen for what is apparently the most infamous gag connected to the game: taking a passenger on a trip to sightseeing destination "For the Mug". Like everyone else before me I misread the distance because it was so ridiculous. Hutton Station, where the For the Mug beacon is anchored off, turns out to be roughly an hour and a half's journey real-time from the nearest jump-point, meaning you have to sit there and twiddle your thumbs, and of course google For the Mug to see all the other players who have fallen for it laughing about it. I understand it's worse if you are in a big ship as the station is not equipped to dock those.
