    What C77 said.

The "b word" isn't acceptable here. SOB isn't acceptable here.

Well, I think even some of Simpsons' language is not acceptable to GL. If my 8 year old talked to me that way, I'd slap him "upside his head". As you can tell, I don't watch the Simpsons but very few times. :D Teaching children to respect their parents and elders and themselves begins with appropriate communication and language skills. *gets off soapbox* :)

And good parenting starts with not "slapping someone upside the head". I hope you were engaging in hyperbole.

There are certain phrases in some Simpsons episodes that would probably earn a movie a PG-13 rating if the writers didn't slip it past the censors so skillfully. The Simpsons isn't a good guideline in that respect. Stick with the Star Wars films.

of course. that's why I put it in quotation marks. :D Both boys survived mom and dad. How old are your kids? Wait till they get mouthy at you; your turn is coming. ;)

Okey I got nothing against this new rule, I don't use curses here anyway... but I did get a 48 hour spank once for using the horrible F-word and the good man Chyren told me that I should have used **** instead. Does that mean Chyren was wrong...how can that be?

When Chyren told you that it was probably right, but that was more than a week ago, therefore it no longer applies.

    -no (^@#*@#
    -no abbrevs.

Can I kick the sith out of someone?

Is arse allowed (as in kick-arse)?

I agree AA, but I will comply if needed be.

Isn't there some sort of 14 or older thing when you sign up for this? If so we should be allowed to use mild PG-13 lingo...

*shrugs* I guess so. I just hope it doesn't apply to things already posted.

By grandfather clause I meant that it doesn't seem fair to call an admin on something they said in the past regarding the issue, since this was recently handed down to be enforced more strictly than was previously implied.

EDIT: I don't know how they'll handle sigs, bios, etc. - whether or not they'll let the ones already used slide. *shrug*

Don't believe it means going back to edit past posties; how can we do that anyhow? 1 hour edit time has passed. We should not be doing it now; we know better. Playing ignorance will not work; it's still an issue of discussion using good words, not unacceptable words or borderline words. :)

Of course not. That would be unreasonable and not within our power.

You can edit sigs and bios though.

Yes, 77, I agree; sigs and bios should be cleaned up. I read a posty somewhere where Josh said no bad words or unacceptable innuendo in sigs. Of course, I can't find it now; was a couple months ago when there was a streak of bad language going about.

Ok this thread is getting ridiculous so here's how I sum up all that I've read. NO WORDS and no parts of words. EU words ie poodo ,sith ,shavit, and almost anything r2 says is allowed. is @#$^%&%*(^& allowed? you weren't quite clear on that.

Now could we say 'ass' if we were wanting to call that pestering troll a donkey, or would "You Burro!" be more apropos? Also, since we're allowed ^%$&, can we allow @$$?

If you people spent half the time actually talking about Star Wars as you do hanging out in Communications pontificating over what swear words you can say and what the weekly rule changes are we'd have the full scripts to the next two films figured out by now.

I thought I saw an admin mention some months ago that they were using "The Simpsons" as a curse word guide, but obviously the reins have been tightened since.

    Oh, well. No worries.

    In terms of the GL rule, while he never said 'crap' in SW, he also never said;
    -Shar Kida
    -gun control
    -+1
    -abortion
-let's make a big pointless thread
    -Short Round McFly
    -Dale Earnhardt
-G-d damn the lot of you
    -Aunt Jar Jar Mimah
    -Warrior

or countless other things we say all the time around here without a second thought. I would think that there would be moer important matters in the JC than whether or not a member (Or admin!) said 'crap' deep within some thread. (Like maybe bold and italics!) (Just kidding about that part!)

    Just to clear something up...

    Poodu = fodder = food.

This is not a synonym for... ummm... stuff...

    EDIT: corrected spelling of "poodu"
