Well I suppose there's more free range on this title since they threw out the title trends with 'The Last Jedi' cause that is a traditional trilogy opening title ,

So the trend of Return of the Jedi & Revenge of the Sith are out ? or are they who knows so any number of words and meanings are on the table for this one......

 

Fall of the Resistance cause i want the resistance to be reabsorbed into the New Republic after they defeat Snoke and Kylo.

 

Not necessarily.

The Force Awakens alludes to a person in the same way the TPM and ANH does. And it's possible that THE LAST JEDI, if read a certain way, follows suit with AOTC and ESB, with a power attacking some group. It doesn't just describe what the last jedi has been up to these days, but could also allude to THE LAST JEDI aka: a powerful force weapon about to be unleashed on the galaxy (The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force.) If, you know...Luke is found, all heck breaks loose on the FO and the Republic combined. Luke is nuclear bomb in the arms race. More powerful than a deathstar.

And wasn't there an old rumor that said Luke feared his own power, so he hid away, for everyone's safety.

The third one could still relate to the larger - and longer - mythology. Sith, Jedi. Whills.

 

Has anyone thought that if the title of Episode 8 is The Last Jedi, there will be no more Jedi? Just like there are no more Sith? Will Episode 9 be the rise of a new group of light side force users called something else?

I was off on 8's title. I had Son of Vader.

Here are my guesses for 9.

The Rise of Vader
Ghosts of the Past
The Temple of Death
The Return of Vader

 

Resistance will never get a title cause they aren't that important. They are action backdrop for mythological stuff to unfold at the front. This movie was their chance to get the title and they didn't. Episode IX won't deviate from Force/Jedi/other Force-related naming.

These are the six most Star Wars-y terms in the public imagination, and one of these terms will appear in the title of IX. They're the most marketable for general audiences and acceptable for SW fans.

We can rule out Force and Jedi (already used in ST) and Empire (doesn't apply to ST). Probably Vader too.

It will either be Skywalker or Dark Side.....and my money is on Dark Side.

I also think "of the" will make it's first ST appearance and continue the third-film pattern.


Power of the Dark Side (echoing Vader's ESB dialogue)

Shadows of the Dark Side (a vague and eerie title that echoes the Legends SotE)

I would be kind of disappointed now if E9 didn't have Skywalker in the title somehow.

And I really like this in concept:

Bring the Skywalkers in the title. They deserve it!

 

Risen from the Dark

 

Unlikely IMO. The Jedi are such a deeply entrenched part of the Star War s Universe. I can;t see them uprooting that concept so thoroughly. The Jedi will be different, but not gone.
