Looks like we've still got 300 some posts before someone guesses correctly...

 

Since the Last Jedi itself tells of supposed finality which, course, is not so, the title for 9 would probably need to represent either:

(1) some sort of final battle or conflict
or
(2) some sort of rebirth or renewal of a new era WHICH can be taken as the saga being over and started back to the beginning OR possible a hint at a new distant future adventure.
or
(3) a true handing down to the new generation once and for all.

In all honesty though I would love to see Jar Jar return to fill Luke in on the history of Padme, Anakin, and Naboo.

 

On a totally serious note, I'd bet Episode IX's title will NOT start with "The."

I didn't think they'd use the word Jedi in a title again, because that made the most sense to me, but that didn't matter to them. So now, it would make sense to make the entire ST start with "The," but I guarantee you it won't, because they love going in different directions than what we expect.

 

One thing's for sure. They won't go from two lore-based titles about the Force and Jedi to something political for the third.

In other words, there won't be any Republic, First Order, Resistance, etc in Episode 9's title.

And the only lore we have left is the dark side. It would be odd to have the words "Dark Side" in the last title unless they want to make it dark yet have a lighter ending. And something like "Dark Side Falls" is almost too straight forward.

That's why words like DESTINY and FATE or BALANCE work well because they hint at mystique without repeating the same words.

 

Since words that made the title were repeated in TFA ( crawl: the Last Jedi blah blah; Snoke: the Last Jedi blah blah) it's possible the next title will be incorporated in TLJ.

 

It's possible. However, it could just be because the crawl mentions Luke as the last Jedi and he was shown in the last scene only. TLJ will center on Luke's return so the title makes sense.

 

And that makes a full circle with ROTJ (from where the title originated). Ring Composition at its finest.

I think a more interesting question would be, how many pages does this thread hit until reveal!!
