ST Episode IX Title Discussion: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER

That's what I've been going with for a while. I like how it can refer to the legacy of the Skywalker family, the legacy of the Jedi, the legacy of the Force both light and dark, the legacy of the franchise on a meta level. Of all the speculation I've done about Ep. IX I feel the most confident that Legacy will be the name.

And like you said, "the force awakens the last Jedi legacy," is pretty cool. It's not just cool it sums up the ST. The force awakens Rey, who awakens the last Jedi, Luke, and paves the way for Rey to continue the Jedi legacy.

 

Just one word, though?
To me, “Legacy” sounds more like the name of a subfranchise/series - and not just because that’s what it is in Legends.
An episode title needs more personality, IMO.

 

Legacy of Hope

 

Legacy of the Balance of the Final Chosen Force Prophecy

 

To each their own. I think it would be perfect for the last movie of a nine part story over forty years in the making. I also like how the one word title separates it from everything that come before it.

 

I wouldn't mind this as an alternative title if the powers that be decide that a one-word title like simply Legacy wouldn't work.

Having the word Hope in there does help to bring things full circle, in a sense, and can refer to either Luke, Rey, the Resistance, the next generation of Jedi, or really just the concept of hope in general.

 

Way back when the ST was first announced in 2012 I remember one of my first thoughts being that The Will of the Force would be a cool title for Episode IX.

In the last couple of years, however, my opinion has changed. With that being said, I would be pretty elated if the title does in fact end up being the first thing I guessed all those years ago!

Call to the Light

Legacy of the Force/Whills

I dunno I like Whills but I think buzz words of Order, Legacy, Call to the *blank* and such would work.

 

The Proton menace

The word "whills" will not be in the title. There is absolutely no context or relevance in this trilogy for that word.

 

Unless...

I wonder if someone from Disney or Lucasfilms is looking through this forum and others while checking off all of our ideas lol.

 

Agreed, not only because the Whills are not known by the general audiences, but because it would make a bad title as well.

Anything with the word "Hope", playing with the title of the movie where we first met Luke, will be something that I am betting my 2 cents on.

I like your idea: "The Will of the Force" is not only a great SW tile, but can be something about the Force telling Luke that he has to go back.

Same here. It's a very fitting title, and the fact that it's one word kind of makes it act like a period at the end of a sentence (or, in this case, at the end of a saga.) I'd be very happy with it as the title.

 

I do hope Legacy is not the title.
It doesn't scream exciting to me.
It doesn't really suggest anything other than it being the very last Star Wars Saga film, which is something we probably already know.
I am thinking Something like Accession of the Knight, or something like that...

 

Uh except for all of things that I mentioned a few posts back, legacy of the Force, the Jedi, the Skywalkers, the Solo's, the franchise. C'mon! Give me this one!
