Yes they do, but when STAR WARS did it with aliens, some people, enough for it to be a big focus in the press, thought it was demeaning to those certain cultures.

    Well, they were obvious stereotypes.

Still, stereotypes are nothing new and are usually funny.

The Trade Federation was totally demeaning to reptilian alien cultures.

For some it was totally demeaning to the asian culture.

    Don't shoot the messenger :

Much as Imperial officers were given English accents, Silas Carson, who portrayed Nute Gunray in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, was asked to imitate a Thai actor's reading of his lines when looping Nute Gunray's dialog for the movie.[30] The use of Asian accents to depict the Neimoidians was cited by reviewers as part of a broader issue with racist stereotypes in that film.[31][32]

I remember it well. I was making fun of it. There is nothing remotely "Asian" about their culture. The one who says "They've gone up the ventilation shaft!" sounds like Speedy Gonzales. There's no monolithic culture represented, we just see some corporate types and a few underlings, who all have different accents. They always sounded like old movie Transylvanians to me :)

Any idea where I can keep an eye out for audition information? I would love to get into this movie even just as an extra.

Naturally, they will probably film on a combination of London and on location. They've done that will all 6 movies. So I can see that happening in Ep. VII too.
