IC: Polmath the Caretaker
Onward

Perhaps it was no surprise to see Polmath already inside the reception area of the Temple, when Tay arrived. After all, the Grey Sage was a venerable Force User, deeply learned in the ways of the Force. He very well understood that with such knowledge came a great deal of responsibility.

Polmath had a communicator in hand and was already sending out missives when Tay made his presence known.

"Well, Tay. I propose you make ready to assist Jedi Bolen while I contact those of us who will assist you." Polmath said by way of greeting, even as he typed. "I'll have a ship ready and waiting at the Temple hangar by the time of your departure."

"Is there any thing you'd need from me before I myself resume my duties?" He asked Tay, his demeanor placid as always.

Greetings John,

Off-world Jedi have requested our assistance through my newest apprentice, Tay Neir.He seems to be acquainted with at least one of their members. I've agreed to help them and ask of you to represent us. He is scheduled to depart soon. Please contact me directly for details.

IC: Tay Neir

Tay had arrived at the temple and headed for the hanger were his hip would be waiting. When he arrived he was still awaiting the arrival of the assistance party. Tay had a feeling of what the jedi were up against but he wasn't going to tell anyone until he was certain of the threat. As Tay was still waiting he decided to enter the place between dimensions once more but this time without the presence of his master. Tay unclipped his lightsabers and ignited the yellow blades. Tay then crossed his legs and sat down on the ground of the hanger. Tay then closed his eyes deeply intransed into the force itself. Tay was also unaware that his lightsabers were not the only thing floating in mid-air but he was as well. Tay then saw his mother and father that had been killed during his time in the jedi order. His father was a 32-year-old jedi master when he had been killed by Manniwin. His mother on the other hand was the second grandmaster of the jedi order and had been killed when her cruiser had crashed landed onto the surface of jakku. All three Neirs were wearing their old jedi robes. Tay was wearing his master's old robes. His father was wearing Tan jedi robes and his mother was wearing brown jedi robes. All three of them also had yellow bladed lightsabers clipped to their belts. Tay's father then spoke.

"My son, you have traveled far in the galaxy and now you are taking your first steps into the life of a grey jedi and assisting those in need more than you did in the jedi order"

"Yes father, but i feel lost some times, I understand that my master is there to help but these gaps are not something that my master can help with." Replied Tay

"You have to trust in the force and if things get tough just remember your Neir Crystal." Explained Tay's Mother

"Of course Testa." Replied Tay and with that he was cut off from his parents. Tay had also come back into the real world to see an empty hanger. He also noticed his old jedi com-link sat next to him. Tay picked it up and attached it to his white jedi robes. Tay also clipped his lightsabers back to his belt and Tay awaited for the groups arrival.

Tay Neir
A Prologue

Tay would see them walking towards him, their pace steady, but not in any way hurried. The one leading them was none other than:

Master Silverhand​

He was followed by two temple guards.

Taking up the rear was a lone grey remote.

​

“Greetings, you must be Tay Neir.” The leading man spoke in a cordial manner, offering a curt nod. “I’m Master Silverhand.”

“Polmath said you were in need of some assistance. What seems to be the problem young man?”

Silverhand casually folded his arms over his chest as he prepared to listen. Above them, the sound of a ship entering the forested area could be heard, then seen as it began to circle the Temple.

The jedi order requires assistance and it's our job to scout out what excallty what they may be up against so that my master can decided weather the grey order has anyform of involvement with it. I already have the location of the jedi temple as i was once a part of it." Tay said replying to the jedi master. Tay also took note of the lone grey romote and wondered what a droid had anything to do with this matter.

Q&A

"I see..." Master Silverhand said cooly as he regarded the young jedi. Polmath's new apprentice was a curious one. Young and driven, but that was only what could be seen on the surface. It wasn't clear to him yet, but he could sense there may be deeper layers to his motivation.

"We are awaiting one more possible member to our party, I hope you don't mind the delay much." Silverhand stated casually, before his gaze followed Tay's. The look he gave the remote was certainly a curious one.

"Is there...a problem?" He asked, head tilting just so.

Tay then turned his head towards master sliverhand keeping his gaze on the remote for a moment and then allowed his gaze to look at master sliverhand.

"I just don't see how a droid can help us out" replied Tay coldly. Tay had never felt comfortable around the senior members of the grey order and master sliverhand was no exception. Tay felt uneasy around the grey master. Tay wrapped his right hand around his left saber as a precaution.

"....and yet you did trust a medical droid to tend to your injuries, is that not so? In that case, how is this different?"

Master Silverhand felt a mixture of curiosity and some small measure amusement. It would seem that Polmath's apprentice was a far more complex individual than he'd anticipated.

No wonder he had been called to assist.

The Grey Master noted young Tay's subtle movements, but made none of his own. Understanding was his goal, not escalation or worse- misunderstanding.

"A medical droid was where it needed to be and is not the same as a remote going off world far from its designed location, Master Sliverhand." Replied Tay. Tay still had his hand clenched around his saber. Every minute Tay spent with the grey master made Tay distrust him more and more. Tay wondered whether the droid even had any idea what it was trying to sign up for.

"A remote droid is designed to help us grey Jedi train when we do not wish to spar with another grey Jedi, master sliverhand, If it does come along i wish to know what business it has on this mission" Explained Tay, with an angry expression on his face, he also spoke in a tone that was not considered appecteple by the grey order. If someone didn't put Tay in his place soon things could get out of hand. Tay tightened his grip on his yellow bladed lightsaber. Tay also felt a stinging sensation in the scar across his right. Tay allowed his free hand to rub against the scar

Actions and words

"Judging a book by its cover young one?" Master Silverhand said with no small measure of amusement.

"So you presume to know the purpose of the remote? Never seen a re-purposed one in your travels I take it?"

Again, Master Silverhand regarded the young one and noted his movements and growing annoyance, but did nothing to address them. It was clear he did not feel threatened in any way. For any grey jedi to attack another without cause meant certain expulsion from the order. If young Tay could not handle himself in a small disagreement, then his fate would be of his own making.

"Meet RU-B125, reconnaissance remote. She serves as an extra set of 'eyes' for us and also monitors or life-signs. Galvan loaned her to us to facilitate our mission. Your mission."

The Grey Jedi Master allowed for a long pause so the young apprentice could reflect on what was said.

"So, if you wish to jeopardize the mission before it launches, please be my guest. I can sense your anger and distrust, they are coming off you in waves. You are not in balance, young jedi. Polmath is wise to send an escort with you."

Silverhand maintained his level of curiosity and calm, ever wondering how the young apprentice would choose and act.

Meanwhile, 'Rubie' simply continued transmitting all that she was seeing.

Tay felt reassured by the grey master's response. Tay let go of his saber but still allowed his free hand to rub against his scar. Tay had heard of re-purposed droids in the past but never a remote droid.

"So you say she serves as an extra eye and keeps track of our vitals, who is she transmitting them to extaclly. Master Sliverhand, please accept that I am sorry for my rash movements, It's just that since I was a bounty hunter I've never trusted anyone until I know them fully. I find it hard to let go of my past." Tay explained to Master sliverhand. Tay now felt more than a sensation in his scar but more like pain. Tay stopped rubbing his hand across his scar and grasped it while also dropping down onto his knees using his other hand to support himself.

"What is this?" Tay asked himself so that only he could hear.

Decameron Alpha jungles

Gildar enjoyed moving through the trees. Polmath had warned him many times not to underestimate the ferocity of the animals here. True enough, he'd had to kill a few when they got too "friendly." He felt so alive with nature, too. Being in the greenery inside the home of the Grey was good. Many plants grew to a lush stature. Though, there was nothing to equal going out into the jungle. He enjoyed the smells, the sounds, even the feel. It also helped him commune with the Force more.

He was wearing his most comfortable clothes for his adventure. A simple light tunic and boots.


He'd just come across a cave he'd never seen before when his comm buzzed. He pulled it out to see who was trying to contact him.

He looked at the message, then the cave, then back to the message. He thought to himself, it'll only take a second to explore. But then his better nature took over. He replied:

He clipped the comm device to his belt and turned toward the temple. Using his Force connection, he leapt as he ran toward the landing pad.

As he approached the landing pad he saw Master Silverhand deep in conversation with someone he wasn't familiar with. Slowing to a walk he approached them, just in time to hear the young one apologize for being presumptuous. He smirked to himself. Master Silverhand can be a bit cold to newbies.

"So, I'm not the only one to be full of themselves first time on planet, eh? I take it you're the new apprentice. I'm Gildar."

"Yes, I'm tay Neir, it's nice to meet you Glidar" Said Tay to the grey jedi before him.

Landing pad

He saw the apprentice go down to a knee after revealing he used to be a bounty hunter. He misunderstood this as grief over his past. The young Grey stooped down and put his hand on Tay's shoulder. He wanted to be as comforting as he could.

"Hey now. We all have a past. No need to come down so hard on yourself, my man. Hey. I murdered someone once! Ask me sometime and I'll tell you all the gory details." Gildar gave a weak smile to indicate familial concern.

Honestly, someone's past can do some real damage in the present. Periodically the experiences he had, the deaths of his fellows, the brutal nature of how he and the others were treated, and the revenge he sought and got came back to him. It could shake him down to his core if he let it. It's important to move on from those experiences.

IC: Master Silverhand
We are what we carry

“Gildar...” Master Silverhand intoned in welcome upon seeing the grey force user. Though not officially apprenticed to any one Mentor, it was clear that Gildar was learning from everyone, not to mention at his own pace. Some considered it a more ‘natural approach’ to apprenticeship. Either way, the results spoke for themselves.

The Grey Master observed as Gildar offer his support and sympathy to Tay. Such a gesture was indicative of someone who formed strong bonds with living beings. Tay’s mercenary past had taught him caution, perhaps even distrust. Letting go of his past certainly would not be easy, but it wasn’t impossible.

Time would tell which Tay desired more. Freedom or slavery.

“To answer your question, Rubie transmits our data to our ship and…well, we can discuss things more in-depth after we board the vessel.”

The unusual discomfort emanating from Tay did not escape Master Silverhand. Something ‘else’ seemed to be the matter with Polmath’s young apprentice. Master Silverhand walked closer, before speaking with audible concern.

“Tay, are you alright? Should we call for the med droid? You seem suddenly unwell.”

The Grey Master reached out with his senses. It was most curious, how Tay seemed so focused on his scar.

Tay revecved the reply's from both grey Jedi.

Tay then got back up so that he stood.
"Thank you Glidar." Tay said to Glidar he then turned to master sliverhand as the ship entered the hanger and touching down.

"No I just need some rest that's all Master Sliverhand, I'll get some on the vessel, now shall we get going now that we are all here?" Asked Tay boarding the vessel. Tay had not told anyone that ever since he had recived the scar from Manniwin's lightsaber it had been bugging him ever since. Tay also felt his connection to the force weaken on times. Tay awaited the rest of the party to board the vessel.

A Neir Journey Begins​

It would not be long before the party intended to assist the jedi boarded the starcruiser, christened the ‘Twin Moons’.

Master Silverhand, two Temple Guards, Rubie the remote,Gildar and Tay Neir would soon find themselves inside the gleaming grey jedi vessel.

[ 'Welcome aboard one and all…'] A cheerful female voice would say, greeting them, the source unseen.

“Thank you Kaleth.” Master Silverhand would respond with casual familiarity. After a beat, he would then lean over to Tay.

“Kaleth is our sentient A.I.”

Genially, Master Silverhand would offer a knowing smile and a curt nod before adding; “Please accompany me to the ship’s bridge. We’ll need the coordinates to the planet your jedi friends are on.” Without another word, he moved on, fully expecting to be followed.

Gildar on the other hand, also moved about with familiarity, as he stationed himself at the ship's archives. The two Temple Guards would find their seats and begin to converse among themselves. Rubie would follow the grey jedi master and hover right behind his left shoulder as he went.

At a glance, Tay would notice that the vessel was specious, as well as equipped with advanced technologies. A look outside the port windows would also inform him that they were already exiting the planet’s upper atmosphere. Internally, one would feel no indication that the ship was in motion.

Upon reaching the bridge, the Grey Jedi Master gestured to Tay with his mechanical right arm, indicating a nearby seating post.

“That’s the navigation console. Feel free to enter or speak the necessary data.”

Outside the frontal viewports, one could see the peaceful backdrop of a myriad stars looming over the verdant planet below.

Within moments, they would be departing Decameron Alpha, and find themselves on their way to assist the troubled Jedi.

Down below on the planet, within the Bendu Temple, a familiar figure would look up. Polmath held his staff in one hand as the other absently stroked his beard. After a few moments of contemplation, he would turn to the enigmatic figure standing next to him.

He would give a simple nod to Uzuriel, as a non-verbal signal that their talks would now begin.

Tay sat down at the navigation computer and put in the nesccery information that would lead them to the Jedi temple. Tay then turned to Master Sliverhand.

"So tell me more about this Rubie, Master Sliverhand. I understand droids can be useful as i have had many assist me on my travels but what's different about Rubie, I want to know everything, I say this is the nicest way possible." Tay said to the Grey master. Just then a sleepy looking figure entered the bridge. The figure stood leaning against the back wall of the space, watching Silverhand and the young Force user for a moment. A wry grin crossed his face as his red eyes met Silverhands,
”Dad said you lot could use some help, Master Silverhand, so suggested I join you on this oh so slow trip. We helping this one?" he asked, thumbing a gesture at Tay.

Tay Responded to the enguiring figure.

"Yes you are and my ask your name?" Asked Tay as he sat back in his chair.

Master Silverhand, Tay Neir & Tracel

The two Temple Guards would continued with their conversation, while Gildar was absorbed going through the archives. On the bridge of the Twin Moons, the navigational console would chime as the coordinates were entered. A second chime would confirm verification, even as the vessel began to re-orient itself before initiating the jump to light speed.

Master Silverhad listened earnestly to Tay and was about to answer, when a familiar figure entered the bridge.

"Long time no see." Master Silverhand would say, offering a curt nod. "Indeed, this is who we are helping. Tay meet Tracel. Tracel, meet Tay."

Master Silverhand found it easier if he took care of the initial introductions. The getting 'acquainted' part? Well, that was part of the living experience as it were.

"I'm pleased that you are being nice, Tay." Master Silverhand admitted. "Which is better than being 'paranoid', yes? You came to us for help because you trust us to do just that, am I correct?"

The Grey Master raised his mechanical hand, requesting a moment to finish.

"Rubie is not unique, there are many droids like her who help us in our day-to-day activities. I would say you are simply not used to this. For starters, the utilitarian benefits are numerous. Rubie can access areas too small for humanoids, see and hear farther and in frequencies and bands we are unable to. If the party is split, she can keep track of our relative positions, and alert us if anything is amiss. I'm willing to believe that in time, you may even ask Galvan to be paired with one of your own."

Master Silverhand gave Tay a genial smile. Before studying the ways of the Bendu and Balance under Polmath, there was much uncertainty and difficulties he had to overcome. He had fallen away from the Jedi, but now he found himself back on track. Helping others along their path was his way of 'giving back'.

"So now that I've told you a few things about Rubie, would you mind sharing the nature of this mission?"

Tay listened to the grey master with great interest.

"I shall indeed ask Galvan when I get a little more experience working alongside Rubie and yourself." Tay explained. Tay then got up from the chair and stood in front of the window so that he was viewing the sight of hyperspace. Tay then responded to Sliverhand's question.

"An old friend came to my side while i was in the medical facility on Decameron Alpha asking for aid against a threat that is still unknown to us grey Jedi. He said that the Jedi order was in need of assistance from our own order. I have a few ideas as to what they could be up against and I know the rough nature of each of the creatures involved with each idea as I have encountered them in my own travels. They could be up against many things but there is only one that i am scared of. This being a creature called Huma-droids. I've been trained to defeat many creatures but no amount of training could prepare any one for these." Explained Tay. Tay then turned to face Sliverhand.

"That's how I got this" Said Tay rubbing his hand across his scar.

Tay was caught off-guard by the question as he had completely forgotten that Tracel was in the room.

"It may sound crazy to most as droids can't be force-sensitive, but somehow these ones are. They are also more powerful than any Jedi I've ever seen and as I'm aware including, My master, Tracel". Tay Repiled. Tay then sat back in a chair next to the controls for the vessel.

A unique enemy

"More powerful than Polmath himself?" Master Silverhand raised an eyebrow and scoffed in disbelief.

"I highly doubt that, young one. If that were 'true', the jedi are most certainly lost and we would be best served by turning this ship around." The grey Jedi Master shook his head and waved the very notion away with his mechanical hand. For the briefest second he paused to regard it- then dismissed the intrusive thought that threatened to enter his mind.

"Either way, from your description, I would assume it's their humanoid half, or rather, the organic side of these 'Huma-droids' that allow them to touch the force. This information is quite revealing. I'm fairly certain there's an inherent weakness in them that we can exploit." He asserted.

Master Silverhand now possessed a better understanding of Tay's earlier reluctance concerning Rubie. But giving in to fear and suspicion was not the path of a trained Jedi.

"Any thought you'd like to share, Tracel?"

Tay regarded the grey master.

"All i would advise is two things as i know these beings better than anyone follow my lead and two Don't underestimate these things." Tay said to the grey master. Tay then sat back and waited for either of the two to say something.
