Has it ever been asked (or explained) what happens to Sith/Dark-siders when they become deceased?

I mean, according to one of the dominant religions om my homeworld, the good go to a special place called Heaven, the bad go to a terrible place called Hell. Some versions include a sort of 'waiting room' called Purgatory before going to the final destination.

If all that happens to Sith/Dark-siders is that they just merge with the Force, where's the disincentive?

 

I guess that's acceptable....

 

Tim Battershell - I can't remember the source, but I'm fairly certain that, while the Jedi maintain vestiges of their consciousness in the Netherworld, or even their entire consciousness, the Sith lose all sense of self when they leave the mortal coil. Their punishment for evil deeds done during life is absolute nothingness.

It may even have been the late, great General Kenobi who said that...

 

I think the general idea of heaven and hell would transfer. There are tons of religions on earth and the majority are made up of the same elements: live a good life and go to heaven, live a bad one and go to hell. Since this thought process is somewhat universal, I find it completley reasonable that religion in star wars would work the same way.

But, that would make the Sith devil worshipers.....right?
