Exar Kun's lightsaber

soooo from watching some of those youtube channels dedicated to star wars lore, i learned about Exar Kun's lightsaber and the dark side properties of it. specifically that it would be able to corrupt the user if they were of the light side and if they were of the dark side, it would grant them vastly increased power. so, with that in mind... palpatine, like all sith, crave power. and he actually achieved the pinnacle of legal power in the galaxy. soooo with his influence, i find myself wondering "if this thing could make one stronger just by holding it, why would sideous not search for it?" i know that sideous did not like lightsabers, but if this would enable you to do even MORE absurd force crap... why not have it in your possession?
