And I'm not really sure what options you would want in a bond game. Whether to sleep with the human piece of meat or shoot it? I don't understand where the nuance is coming from.

I was sort of anticipating that Coruscant underworld game (mostly because there was a 99% guarantee of no tripping AT-ATs) that was in development before Lucasarts was shut down.

I always thought 1313 was more in the vein of Uncharted in that it was a run and gun third person shooter rather than a GTA style sandbox game?

 

It changed so many times during its development, I'm positive at some point it was a farming game.

 

I wasn't saying that it would have been GTA: Coruscant, but it was the closest we ever got to it.

With EA controlling Star Wars games now, who knows when we'll get anything other than mindless, paper-thin Battlefront drivel.

Harvest Moon Story of Seasons: Moisture Farmer would be kind of rad. Except these days they make those games too ****ing hard for their own good so you'd have to spend 40 hours amassing enough credits to expand your farm only to then be told Imperial credits are no good, they need something more real. And you'd be like "Look I just want to expand my farm so that I can get the marriage cutscene and advance the plot" and this hypothetical Tatooine retailer would be like "Actually you're going to have to go to the other side of the planet to collect a feather first, also there's a dungeon and your only weapon is your hydrospanner." Then you'd do all of this and you can't get the marriage event because a different event was already triggered and incidentally even though every boy in the game is hitting on you and one of them is a charming butler voiced by Vic Mignogna you actually can't marry them because you're playing as a boy and this game was made in Japan. At this point you're finally about to settle for some girl that's not quite as good as the butler but you'll make do... and then the final boss triggers. And you're like "Final boss? But this is a Harvest Moon Story of Seasons game?" And Marvelous is like "Spin-off lol." So you fight the final boss for multiple hours because it has deliberately enforced downtime and multiple stages, you check the in-game clock, and you missed your own wedding.

And that's why Rune Factory 3 was the last good Harvest Moon Story of Seasons game. ... What was I talking about?

 

My last Harvest Moon was for the SNES. Your post troubles me to no end.

 

The worst part is it could be reasonably argued that it's all been downhill from there or the immediate followup, it's the sort of series where a new installment adds cool features while making bizarre cuts in other areas. Lately we've been getting some of the worst offenders, and due to a bizarre licensing dispute the real HM games (As in games developed by Marvelous) come out now as Story of Seasons while some weird, bastardized Minecraft-knockoffs are released under the Harvest Moon name by Natsume.

 

I still want to see John Carmach do a Star Wars game.

 

He's not into games anymore. He was always obsessed with virtual reality (just read the fantastic Masters of Doom) and he's now at the right place to make his lifelong dream true.

 

Yeah, I know. Despite really looking forward to this year's Doom, I was saddened to learn of his departure from ID.

 

GTA Corusca... **** you David. Why don't you propose a bit of Star Wars Fallout 4 (previously: Star Wars Skyrim) because that's what kids are playing today.
