Back to games and Trails Of Cold Steel III..... Holy. ****.

When these games throw a turd at a fan, they do it properly.

    How is it?

    Huge CRPG fan here.

Apparently according to an EA investor call, Mass Effect Legendary Edition did better than projected AND they're going to continue Jedi: Fallen Order as a series.

Good news for people who like real games.

I know people like Mass Effect 3, but the last good Mass Effect game came out in 2010. So my trust in BioWare with the next game is shaky at best. I’m personally more excited for the next Dragon Age.

But I can’t wait to see Respawn build on what they did with Fallen Order.

To be honest Andromeda is a good ME game.

A M.2 NVME makes SATA look like dial-up internet.

    SATA is?

    And the PS5 Beta is?

SATA is how hard drives and solid state drives used to be connected to the motherboard (and still are in many cases). With M.2 NVME you just stick the SSD directly onto the board. With SATA the transfer rate maxes out at like 600 MB/s whereas with the newer tech it's at least 4GB/s.

Serial ATA, it’s the type of hook up hard drives traditionally use but it’s beginning to be surpassed because of speed limitations.

Remember how in a PS4 an SSD didn’t actually give you major speed boosts? That was because they used a SATA 2 bus, which was largely outdated even at the time of release. SATA 3 is much better and, as Guy says, NVME still blows it out of the water.

Wow. That also explains the tech price too.

Ben the PS5 Beta is a beta program to preview new system software and features. So I got in, which allowed me to expand my storage with another SSD.

The PS5 clocked my Western Digital SN850 drive at 6549mbps.

I've started saving for my SSD upgrade for the PS5. I don't need one yet but I imagine I'll want one in the new year. I have the money now but I'm thinking if I put £50 a month away between now and Jan, £200 will cover the majority of the cost for a 1TB SSD so adding to should easy enough.

Was adding the SSD into the PS5 easy enough?

In actual "I'm playing a game" news. I dove back onto Guild Wars 2 with the "End of Dragons" expansion announced and got myself a second Legendary weapon so I now have Kudzu and Frostfang. I also have the precursors for Quip and Rage along with an array of ascended weapons and trinkets.
I'm debating starting on Legendary armour but that involves doing the raids and I just don't think I can be arsed with that. I'm 90% PVE and 10% WvW. I barely bother with Fractals and Dungeons because I can't be arsed with people who get arsey when you mess up or don't know it as well as they do.

I'm a casual gamer and don't stress to hell if I or someone else messes up because IT'S A GAME, but not doing Fractals, Raids and Dungeons does leave some aspect of the game behind the curtain for me.

Played the Back 4 Blood beta. Pretty fun, with a number of improvements on L4D - an actual store (in game, not microtransactios), specific perks, things to make it more challenging. Missions are more varied, too.

Best scene was a Tank equivalent attacked, and one of our team ducked into a tunnel to get away and the thing broke through and attacked him anyway.

As a cheap, effective interim solution, grab a cheap 1-4TB (4TB = £72) standard drive, transfer all your PS5 games to it and then re-copy the ones you are actually playing. It'll go faster than you expect.

Meanwhile the new tech continues to develop and slowly reduce in price.

I have the game, I've been slowly going through it. It's fun but not without issues.

So did I, but I needed another.

The PS5 copy ability does change things greatly for game storage.

"Fun but not without issues" is what I'm fine with, honestly.

Hell, Pathfinder: Kingmaker is, to me, fun but not without issues.

Unfortunately I found Pathfinder a lot worse than that. It's issues made it "not fun" to me.

Have booted up Trails Of Cold Steel IV. Not that I had much choice, given how its predecessor ended....
