Personally I loved Origins and am liking Odyssey even more because of the increased story emphasis and story choices. Plus Kassandra is Boss.

 

Yeah the one bit of universal advice I've been hearing in podcasts and whatever (even from people on the more lukewarm end of things, though no one seems really put off) is definitely play as Kassandra.

 

I heard some clips and don't like Alexios' voice. Kassandra is better.

Sorta, except they have the same lines and stuff. More like, IMHO, Mass Effect, where FemShep just had much better acting.

And I actually enjoyed the first one.

 

I just got Odyssey, so if it's terrible I'm blaming solojones.

 

So this is my first AC since Syndicate. At first I was like "this is very reminiscent of ACII", with the bucolic countryside roaming being that unifying factor. But about an hour in and I know what's bugging me.

See, with timing constraints I picked the "classic" mode, so I have the little compass with objectives at the top but there's no minimap, which is actually really frustrating. Navigation at first is a bit of a hit and miss affair. Exploration mode looks like something a pre-child version of me would have tried, but I have to say it's a little cluttered just navigating around using the 360deg compass.

Ahh, see I'm playing exploration mode, which I'm digging. Although the compass thing I'm used to from so many games playing that way.

 

Yes, we use the compass in PUBG all the time. And an actual popup compass in ArmA III. But, the minimap point is valid:

 

Oh, to be sure AC always had a minimap so it was an adjustment in Origins. I like to think they made up for it with the addition of the eagle. The literal bird's eye view of my surroundings is something I use constantly.

 

tbh though, I think Ubi should focus not on another AC game next, but Watch_Dogs 3. I know @Lord Vivec will agree with this.

Well they've already said there's no new AC next year (they made Odyssey at the same time as Origins, but will probably go back to a two year rotation again).

So I fully expect that Watch Dogs 3 will come out next year. The hints were that it's gonna be set in London. I'm definitely looking forward to it.

 

Sarf London, specifically (Brixton). Not far from Croydon, where I imagine the protagonist is at significant risk of being stabbed because it's stabby.

If they do, it'll be hilarious to see the complaints a la Sleeping Dogs from Americans and Europeans about right hand drive cars.

EDIT: also make the character English, but of Indian or Pakistani descent. For once.

EDIT 2: Also, if it is in Sarf London, weapons could include your keys sticking out through your knuckles; the Glaswegian Kiss; a half eaten kebab; a lager bottle, and a sack full of 50p pieces.

 

About time London got a proper sandbox game.
