Aww! **sniffles happily** I am truly delighted that old tutorial was some use to you--and thank you so much for sharing your success with it in drawing class! [:D] If there's a gift for another artist, it's that some shared technique has worked well for another--and your note is truly a gift to me--thank you! :D

As to Caedus...he's coming along, however slowly; drawing time is very dear these days, and I have to use some of it for the requests I have going, so time for my own work is even more dear! I hope (fingers crossed) that I'll be able to post him sometime before the end of the month, but I make no guarantees--I'm so bleedin' busy! AACK! I do appreciate your asking about it, though! :D

Azure: Thank you again, dear friend! Off to check out your latest now! :D

FalconFan, those are truly amazing. You are so talented and I have to say that I am very jealous of you. :p My favorites were the one with Ben waiting with Mara, and also most of the TK ones. =D=

    FalconFan, these are amazing=D=

I had no idea how talented you were until I visited your page today.

I try to visit the pages of people who have commented on my page and all I can say is wow!

I was wondering if you still do sketches of OC's for other users. If so I would like it if you can do one for me.

    Once again... awesome!!!![face_hypnotized] =D= [face_hypnotized]

You already know how I love your recent works, especially Jagged, but I wanted to drop by and leave some love anyway. I still mean to write that AU scene where Jace and Tenel get to introduce Allana to her grandparents... The one you illustrated, even though I haven't read it, is so heartbreaking in a way. But of course, it's always a good thing when an artist's work elicits emotion like that! <3

This is awesome work. =D= That was also my favorite scene overall in the LoTF novels. Jag looks good, as does the one with Luke'n'Mara. Great job. :)

I sure wish I had more time to look and draw and reply to all the wonderful folks who drop in here...

Tahi: Sure thing (in fact, I'll be sending out a PM to you today! ;) ), and thanks!

QueenMotherLK: Hello, and many thanks for taking time to look around and for the comments, too! The "Sacrifice" piece is one I've thought about redrawing, taking a little more time with it, as the original was done rather quickly and roughly...I'm glad you liked it anyway! Thank you so much!

CPL_Macja: Hi! Thanks for the visit--it's always a nice thing, to drop in on those who've visited your thread, so thanks for that, too! :D As to doing requests--it's something I do when I have time to do it; as of right now, I'm up to my nostrils in requests and in real-life work stuff, so I'd have to decline for now. If you're still interested at the end of summer/beginning of fall, I MAY be caught up enough by then to entertain another request then. PM me if you think you can wait and we'll discuss it! Thanks for looking, though!

Iverna: Yeah! I'm on the list now for "Intuition," and am really looking forward to reading your AU version of that first meeting between grandparents and granddaughter--and having the rest of the family there, too! It should be a blast! Thanks for dropping in again, and I'm so glad you decided to narrate it! :D

Black-Dog: Hi! So glad you liked "Grandparents"--it was a scene that simply stuck with me and as such, demanded continually that I draw it (inspiration is like that sometimes--it grabs you by the throat and drags you kicking and screaming to the drawing board! lol!)! Thanks for the browse, and for the kind words! :D

Azure: I'm getting ready to hit all the threads again now, as I have a few spare minutes--patience, my dear! :D

Alright...here it is--the portrait of Caedus, the former Jacen Solo-turned-Sith Lord. I struggled with this piece for a long time, resisting doing it at all, as I was having a dreadful time letting go of the character I'd grown so fond of (Jacen). I hated what he became, in spite of his seemingly rational reasons for doing so... But in the end, I found I did finally need to put a face on Caedus after all, to sort of "close the chapter" at last. I hope it doesn't offend anyone (I know a lot of fans really hated Caedus), but I'll fully understand if it does--it was more of a catharsis for me than anything else...

As always, comments and critiques are welcome, and thanks for looking!

]-} OMG that is so awesome! for some reason Jacen is really hard for me to draw too. I guess I like his character so much in the NJO series that I have a hard time getting him how I imagined. Awesome job with this piece. I love the bit of color in his eyes! a well worth wait.

Wow. Just wow. I'll say that while I'm no EU fan for the most part, I totally want to see what the obsession/disappointment is all about because of this picture and the story behind it! :p

You never fail to impress. Hawt picture! :)

    Wahhhhhhhhh it's so gorgeous... [face_love]
I'm always so impressed by the emotion in your drawings.
He's recognisable as Jacen, but theres... a hardness there. I really like the eyes, but even with them he doesn't look completely evil. There's pain in his face, and sadness too...

*reaches for the box of kleenex*

Personally, that attire was never to my taste :p , never mind, it's still beautifully drawn.
    So very well done =D=

Look at me, delurking in Fan Art. :p I love this picture. The hair really catches my eye somehow - I don't know how to describe it, but it looks so right. The details around his eyes are very lifelike, and the shading is amazing. Everything looks totally three-dimensional. And I think the touch of making his eyes the only bit of color was an excellent one. :D

Your art always leaves me in awe; everything is so detailed, and the people look so alive. I can't imagine creating something like that. [face_hypnotized]

Awesome job, Falcon! :D The facial demeanor and the Sith eyes gives Caedus a real authoritarian look. He looks committed to his work, despite a seeming reluctance and of how twisted his methods were. This work of yours truly rocks.

WOW great with only the colour in his eyes showing what he has become.
You have pictured him perfect with that gloved hand and pose.

Golly - you know I've been just staring at the pic now for a while because there's so much in there. I don't know how you manage to instill so much into one drawing, but you do. It's amazing how real he looks, like a photo. It's almost disturbing to be staring into those eyes which seem almost too near for comfort.

I know what you mean about needing to "close the chapter" on Jacen/Caedus. It's something to do with trying to really comprehend how Jacen could become that other person. Was there anything of the old Jacen left to mourn over, or to give one hope that that persona could re-emerge in the right circumstances?

In this drawing, there is something of the old Jacen - a little tiny bit. I see it in the pensive pose and in that very Solo-ish hair. And in the eyes. It's fleeting - but there is still a "searching" intelligence there that is very Jacen-ish. Despite the harsh, coldness, and the Sithly colour, if you cover the brooding eyebrows and frown, the eyes are still unsullied and looking for truth. There's even a trace of sadness, but it's a kind of resolute sadness, if that makes sense. As if he's thinking that only he can sacrifice to solve the problems of the galaxy. Tragic, self-obsessed, but awesomely drawn. :)

There is a lot of anger and, as I said, brooding there - this comes through in the brows and also the mouth. So humourless. That's one of the saddest things about Caedus. His gaze is very stern and inward-directed, too - symbolising his lack of empathy. (Again this is one of the things that Jacen had, but Caedus has eschewed.)

The perfection of his tidy uniform, those precise, gleaming, geometrical lines in his armour speak of his dedication to order and rigid routine. It's kind of "fascist" if you know what I mean - in the sense of ritualistic self-control and upright stance. A kind of machine-type man - ruthlessly efficient.

I can't get over how real those gloves look. It's so scary - but totally amazing that you can draw like that. It seems that Caedus doen't like to have any bare flesh at all - except his face - which is the antithesis of the nature-loving Jacen.

There's no softness there at all - and he looks damnably comfortable in that armour. Even the collar is spiked. It all enhances his air of total authority.

I really like the way you've drawn the background with the shadows kind of reversed from the norm. Usually one would expect the head to create a shadow on a light background - but here Caedus's head creates a light effect on the shadows. A residue of Jacen still lingering in the form of hope? Or a sign that Caedus has perverted what was once natural? Whichever way - I like the ambiguity, because I think maybe Caedus wouldn't have known the answer to that himself.

This is an amazing piece of art. [:D] It captures the complexities of Caedus's psyche in a way that is compelling, and at the same time (in those Solo features) it shows where he came from. =D= I'm floored by your talent. :)

hey FF, your Caedus really rocks! This is perfect, spot on! I can even envision Tahiri standing behind him on one side (with Medusa-like hair) and Ben at the other side.. both his apprenticves (AU but would work nice imagewise).

Holy wow! I just saw this, not really expecting much when I clicked (I know, I should've, it's YOU drawing it, but I just really don't like Caedus...). But I looked, and literally leaned back and went "Ooooooh!"--it's not often that art gets a physical reaction from me, but this managed. This is exactly how I imagined him! Handsome, brooding, Dark-Side but still somehow Jacen. I'm in awe at how you managed to portray him here. The eyes are a nice touch. He resembles both Han and Leia just enough, as well. The shading and details are first-class as usual, of course, and I just love his hair and the pensive, yet somehow threatening expression on his face. He looks like he's considering whether or not to crush whoever he's looking at here (the person taking the holo, perhaps? *lol*)

I think you just made me like Caedus a little better. But really, I just love how there's still some remnants of Jacen in there. Aww. What I'm really trying to say is, this is phenomenal work! I think it's one of my favourite pieces that you've done (although "Unacceptable Losses" still tops the list for me).

And now I shall scuttle back to my paper. I just had to comment and gush a little bit.

    **eyes misting**

I sure didn't expect this kind of response to this post--especially due to the subject--I find I'm quite touched and overwhelmed by the responses...thank you all! **wipes grateful tears** I was feeling quite uncertain about posting this portrait, but I see now that a lot of folks felt a need to see this as much as I did (like I said before: this was mainly a cathartic process for me...letting go of Jacen Solo at last...), for many and varied reasons...

Again, everyone--deepest gratitude for the kind replies.

TOJP wrote: I guess I like his character so much in the NJO series that I have a hard time getting him how I imagined.

Indeed--me too: throughout the NJO, I grew to care about Jacen more and more--his reflective, empathetic nature, his thoughtful approach to life and the Force. What happened to him was horrible--I kept expecting him to die all the way through "Traitor"--but he persevered and survived, and I always believed he'd be stronger because of his trials. I never wanted to believe he would turn to the Dark Side, even when it was hinted at the start of LOTF; sadly, for all Jacen's fans, that's exactly what happened...and what a reign of terror and grief and loss it became for us all... His image, both as the thoughtful youth he was throughout the NJO, and then as he darkened in his fall, have been tough for me to get "right." This piece was done partly with a magazine photo reference (the pose and partly the expression), partly with other images (found on Wookieepedia and elsewhere)--but mostly with my own heart, and how I envisioned him near the end of "Revelation:" that self-assured, perfectly confident Lord of the Sith he had finally declared himself to be...Darth Caedus... Thanks for taking a look, and I'm glad it seems to fit.

Trika_Kenobi wrote: while I'm no EU fan for the most part, I totally want to see what the obsession/disappointment is all about because of this picture and the story behind it!

Thanks for taking time to drop in again, and I'm glad you like this; as to finding out about the "obsession/disappointment," I'm sure it can be found quickly anywhere in Lit, and possibly in the EUC... I won't belabor the points here, but Jacen was a rather unique character who went through some horrendous experiences and some enlightening experiences, but all of them led him to being suseceptible to the Dark Side...and he fell. Think the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker, and it's something like Jacen's path--like grandfather like grandson, I suppose... As for me? I just felt the need to put a sort of period at the end of Jacen's chapter in the EU--he was one of my favorite characters for a long time, and I am disappointed he's gone (...but then he's actually been gone for the last two book series... :( ).

If you think he's "hawt," then good for you! ;) :D Thanks again!

    **hands Kiyu more Kleenex**

Yes--I always held on to the idea that he didn't want to be doing what he felt he must do, and as such would still be bothered by it; once he adopted his Sith name, though, most of that empathy seemed to dissolve, and the last remaining threads that held him to his old persona were severed... As Tahi points out--empathy was something Caedus eschewed... But I always hoped there might be a tiny little shred of the Jacen-that-was, somewhere buried deep inside him--Allana was really the only thing that might have preserved that shred--we see just the tiniest hint of that at the very end of the duel. Finally though, he was exactly what he proclaimed himself to be: a powerful Sith Lord with designs on ruling the galaxy with his iron, Force-enhanced fist... Sad end to what could have been a great Jedi character, IMHO... :(

The costuming was more a way to help identify him (I don't think, without the captions, anyo
