Wow Falconfan, I especially love the ESB Leia piece her eyes just draw us in. And your work has a very soft feel to it. You say you're outclassed in your profile but I think it's the other way around.

CeiranHarmony, I figured you'd be the first to check out TK! Thanks again for your suggestions on her attire--I think it sort of makes the "royal" aspect of the portrait! The scaled armor took a long time to shade, but I think it was worth the effort! As to the "full-body"--you may have seen my comment earlier in the thread about my difficulties with rendering bodies well (thus, the stubborn avoidance of doing them at all! )--perhaps some other time!

Ty_Ordell--I still mean what I said in the profile, as it's the honest truth! There is soooo much talent here in the Art Forum, it still blows me away every time I browse thru--in every different medium, and countless styles. Thank you very much for your kind comments, tho!

And thank you, HanSolo29--CeiranHarmony was the "appearance and wardrobe consultant" on the Tenel Ka portrait (I have "buried" my books, and didn't have them to refer to! )--the suggestions went a long way! As to Han...yeah... I had begun to "scrub" through the paper again, trying to "fix" it, so had to bag it and start over! The current one looks better (not good, but better), so I may actually get it submitted for the Challenge!

The droideka is floundering along (and I say again: AAAAARRRGH!!)--I'm taking a hack at shading it--but man-oh-man....it's killing me!! Hopefully, I'll be able to finish it by Tuesday! Thanks, everyone, for taking a look--I appreciate it a lot!

Darth_Elu, thank you for your kind words! I love "giving faces" to some of the EU characters I've read about, but rarely seen (outside of the normally fabulous book covers...)--and the likenesses are exercises in accuracy (which sometimes miss the mark! )--but it's all fun, and it's great to hear from others who appreciate the efforts! Suggestions/requests are welcome (though, as you pre-emptively observed, they might wait a while, depending on what else is going! )! Thanks for stopping by, tho--I appreciate very much!

My first attempt at adding a "background" to a portrait (made easier by the actual existence of a background in the reference photo! )! The likeness isn't as good as I wanted, but it's close!

hey I like your Han, though he looks like in his younger years when he trained and served as a trooper, before joining the navy officers, shorty before saving chewies life.

and if ever you mess up with a Han picture (what I know you can´t do, because you are a master artist!) , put a beard over his face and call him Thrackhan sal solo

 

Geez, an excellent first attempt at backgrounds! I really like this piece. The black/white really does well to play against the armor and "organics" of Han's face.

 

The shading is phenomenal. Great job!

You seem to just whip these things off!? Every time I turn around you have another piece up and yet they look like they took you hours. Super-Duper, great job FalconFan !!

I still want to see a color piece though. It doesn't have to be anything elaborate, just an Endor battle scene painting or something, nothing too big.

 

Thank you, Ty, for your kind comments! Just visited your murals--Geez-Looeez! Love those! As to "whipping this stuff out:" I wish! These all take days and days to complete (a few hours here, a few hours there)--especially when doing Wookiee fur! I actually put in a lot of time on each one (including having to "walk away" for a while, erasing and redoing...tearing my hair out! ). About the "color..." *feet scuffing at ground* ...we'll see!

The likenesses you get are really good, something I need to work on, and I perticularly love that Han and Chewie one. The expressions on their faces and the fur on Chewbacca in particular are amazing, your shading style is very intresting! lovin' it, keep it coming!!!

 

I agree with Esira, the Han and Chewie pic is my favourite. There is something about the way you've rendered Han's eyes that make them the focal point for the drawing. But then I always like the way you draw the eyes in your pictures.
