If history is any indication, a new Star Wars film results in an influx of new or returning fanficcers to the JCF. The purpose of this thread is to tell others a bit about yourself. Old-timers are of course encouraged to post their bio as well.

This is a bio thread, not an interview thread. It’s okay to reply here to welcome new users, but please don’t use this thread to ask people questions – that would belong in Fan Fic Ask Me Anything or any interview thread that replaces it in the future.

You may answer as many of the questions below as you want, answer several in one go if you choose to, and give as much or as little detail as you want. And of course, you can come back here and edit your post in the future – that’s what unlimited editing time is for.

Please note that, this being a social thread, linking to individual fics is not permitted (see here for details of the rules about promoting fics) but you may link to your entry in the Prolific Writers’ Index under question 7.

Hello, my name is whiskers, and I'm a fanficcer.
I don't have any other handles on the boards, this is my first and only account.
I was born on August 5th, for those wishing to send me birthday greetings.
I am from the United States.
I speak English and a spattering of badly atrophied Spanish.
I am a writer and a reader of fanfiction, though I am a bit shy when it comes to replies.
My favorite non-Star Wars movie is A Bridge Too Far. My favorite non-Star Wars book is Dracula.
I like a lot of genres of music, but mainly alternative and heavy metal.
Outside of writing, my hobbies are miniature war games, roleplaying games and model building.
My favorite food is orange chicken, my favorite drink is tea. As for guilty pleasure, I'm a glutton for pizza.
I watch a lot of TV, primarily sports and pro wrestling, though I do love crime dramas as well.
I'm a fan of zoos, and I love going to the St. Louis Zoo whenever I can.
I am far more of an Expanded Universe person than I am a movie person.
Legends continuity all the way. I very rarely touch Disney's canon.
My favorite Star Wars movie is Revenge of the Sith, favorite book is Traitor, favorite comic is anything by Ostrander/Duursema, my favorite game is Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II.
My favorite characters generally come from the video games.
As for favorite genre, I'll generally read/write anything, but I love putting characters through an emotional grinder.
I'm more of a fan of short fiction than I am of long fiction, but any one will do. Not that big a fan of drabbles, as they tend to leave far too much unsaid for my tastes.
Most of my reading/writing has taken place in the Saga, but I honestly love all three.
    Legends!
I personally don't classify characters as "canon/legends" or original characters that much (mainly I do it because it seems that I have to). They're all just characters to me. As for any particular ones, I love writing characters that we don't see that much elsewhere.
I have tried my hand at some original fiction, but I'm mainly sticking to Star Wars at the moment.
Revenge of the Sith was one of the first times that I found these boards and when I signed up. I went on a little hiatus in 2012 and came back here earlier this year. I was drawn to fanfiction soon afterward.

Hi. My name is Nyota's Heart. I am a fanficcer.

    I live in the U.S.

Favorite food: sushi. Favorite drink: tea. Guilty pleasure: Edwards Turtle Pie.

I read and write fics. I am more of an SW EU person than the movies. I like Beyond events, although Saga is close. Favorite characters are Luke, Leia, Han, and Mara Jade.

Non-SW fandoms I have written/read for are Tolkien's wonderful worldscape and Star Trek. [face_love]

My favorite music style is jazz, contemporary and big band. More on music: also love the 80s.

Genres I love to read and write: character growth/introspection, relationship-centric stuff like with friends, family, couples. I love romantic mush, like duh, who doesn't know that? :D

I like advancing the plot elements through dialogue.

Favorite non-SW book is "Memoirs of a Geisha" and the Foundation series by Asimov.

Other interests: astronomy; space exploration/discoveries/ history, particularly that of Japan, Greece, and England. :)

    1. Hello, my (user) name is Admiral Volshe and I’m a fanficcer.
    2. Do you use other handles/socks on the JCF? I have a lot of socks. You may see them around, not usually in fanfic though.
    3. When should we wish you a happy birthday? November 18!
    4. Which country are you from? The United States, living in Canada.
    5. What languages do you speak? Spanish, German, French, Norwegian, Italian, some Swedish, some Portuguese...I understand many, many more however (yay for similarities!)
    6. What do you do in RL? Full time writer, at the moment. This may change.
    7. Are you a writer, a reader or a lurker? A combination thereof? Writer and reader.

    Bits and Pieces about You
    8. What’s your favourite non-SW movie/book? Memoirs of a Geisha, A Beautiful Mind, LOTR.
    9. What sort of music do you like? Most things. I prefer post-punk, new wave, classical/soundtrack, and rock though.
    10. What hobbies do you have besides fanfic? Writing in general, digital art (photomanipulation, painting), photography, singing (lyric coloratura), languages, science, ancient history.
    11. What’s your favourite food? Your favourite drink? Your favourite guilty pleasure? Chocolate lava cake. Or McD's fries. I love orange Fanta. My favourite guilty pleasure is probably the fries.
    12. Are you a heavy TV watcher? Are you a frequent theatre or movie-goer? I am neither. I prefer to make my own things up.
    13. Do you like art? Museums? Travelling? Anything else? I like art and museums. And travelling.
    14. Do you have a favourite quote? "We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give."
    15. Tell is a fun fact about yourself! I have hyper-mobility. AKA I can do really weird things with my hands/legs/arms.

    Star Wars Preferences
    16. Are you a SW movie person or an Expanded Universe person? Movies. Hands down.
    17. Are you a SW Legends person or a SW New Canon person? Neither. :p
    18. What’s your favourite SW movie/book/comic/game? Empire Strikes Back.
    19. Who’s your favourite SW character/‘ship? Take a wild guess. For both. :p But actually, beside the Executor, I love TIE/in Interceptors and the Nubian J-type Star Skiff.

Oh wait...you meant OTPs? Too many. Right now, Palpasard. [face_batting]

    Fanfic Reading and Writing Preferences
    20. Romance, adventure, drama, humour or something else? All of the above! Maybe a little less humour, but I definitely love incorporating (and someone who can incorporate) as much of those as possible. Real life is made from all of those - it only makes sense to have stories with all of them.
    21. Long stories, short stories, poems, songfics or something else? Reading? I prefer stories, long or short. Writing? I prefer long stories.
    22. Before, Saga or Beyond? Reading? Before or Saga, for the most part. I usually write in the SW:TOR era or the Galactic Civil War.
    23. Canon, Legends, AU, crossover? Any of the above. Especially for writing.
    24. Canon/Legends characters or original characters? Any particular favourites you’d like to mention? I will read either. I have so many characters I love, though. Favourites of mine to write, at the moment: Montri Navarr and Riou Spince (from an unposted fic), Ysanne Isard, Firmus Piett, pretty much any other Imperial (OC or non).
    25. What type of fic wouldn’t you read/write? I'm not going to answer reading, but I won't ever write a strictly Legends canon anything. Or anything canon.
    26. Do you read/write other fandoms or original fiction? Yes and yes. Doctor Who mostly, and I have an original fiction story in progress.

    JCF Questions
    27. What brought you to the JCF? To the Fanfic boards? What brought me back to the boards was roleplaying, something called the New Galactic Empire. I then migrated to the SWC, then came here after getting an idea for a Padmé fanfic. I had already been writing fanfic and original fiction on my own, so I was super excited.
    28. Do you visit Fanfic Resource often? If yes, what are your favourite threads? I do, I don't really have "favourite" threads. The Social Thread is always fun, and the challenges are my favourite part. My favourite thread was from the Temp boards, though. The "Worst FanFic You've Ever Read" thread, specifically the terrible pairings section.
    29. Do you venture out of the Fan Fiction boards to other JC forums? If so, which ones? I do. Mostly SWC, JCC, and EUC. I do go to Fan Art and the other film boards, too. And WNU.

    Other
    30. Anything else we should know about you?
-If I click like for your story, I like it and am reading it. I am probably meaning to write a review, or ask to be tagged, but because I have a crazy brain filled will tonnes of ideas at any given second, it's slipped my mind. But I like it. Promise.
-I am a pre-med/microbiology major and I LOVE science. Do not worry if I get super excited about bacteriophages or plasmids. :p
-I'm pretty much the stereotypical crazy, frazzled writer, so don't be alarmed if you see me in the corner muttering to myself about ideas! :D

    1. Hello, my (user) name is ______ and I’m a fanficcer.
Ewok Poet. You can call me EP. If I know you well, I'll tell you my name.

    2. Do you use other handles/socks on the JCF?
I have one I created in August '15 due to harassment I received that nobody ever took care of, made to use in off-topic threads. I never used it.

    3. When should we wish you a happy birthday?
    March 03rd.

    4. Which country are you from?
    Serbia.

    5. What languages do you speak?
My own (spoken in a couple of countries under different names), English, Italian, Latin and Russian - the latter is rusty. I know a decent amount of Spanish and German, a bit of Brazilian Portuguese and very, very little of Dutch, Ukrainian, French and Esperanto. Obsessed with learning Hungarian and Greek.

    6. What do you do in RL?
I'm a web developer. I originally studied Italian language and literature, but I stopped it, due to an illness that took more than a decade to discover and now I cannot afford to go back, time-wise. I also sell stuff online and I am attempting to start a polymer clay and upcycled stuff jewelry line.

    7. Are you a writer, a reader or a lurker? A combination thereof?
I cannot shut up, so the earlier two.

    Bits and Pieces about You

    8. What’s your favourite non-SW movie/book?
    Films:
    Strange Days
    Faraway, So Close!
    Return of the Jedi
    Birdman of Alcatraz
    Il Mostro
    Dumb and Dumber
    Wild Strawberries
    Best Offer

    9. What sort of music do you like?
More or less everything, but it's the bold, rule-breaking things that win my heart. I hate the music industry.

    10. What hobbies do you have besides fanfic?
I write a lot, I dabble in photography, I used to be a prolific blogger and I cycle. I run some websites out of purely liking things they're about. And yeah, languages are a given. Baking, too.

    11. What’s your favourite food? Your favourite drink? Your favourite guilty pleasure?
    - Currently, a cold wrap with Caesar dressing, mustard, grilled bacon and veggies.
    - Pepsi Max.
    - Pepsi Max.

    12. Are you a heavy TV watcher? Are you a frequent theatre or movie-goer?
No, no and no - I have concentration issues because of ADHD.

    13. Do you like art? Museums? Travelling? Anything else?
All of those, though I rarely get to travel.

    14. Do you have a favourite quote?
"For me, art has never been something done out of sense of duty."

    15. Tell us a fun fact about yourself!
I'm listed in the credits of Asif Kapadia's Oscar-winning Amy documentary. I had a viral video. I can lick my nose.

    Star Wars Preferences

    16. Are you a SW movie person or an Expanded Universe person?
SW movie person, though I'm open to anything.

    17. Are you a SW Legends person or a SW New Canon person?
New Canon person, who hopes that the Ewoks Legends stuff will be canon again. Same goes for pretty much all planets and locations. I find the old EU kinda controversial and not inclusive enough. Changed my mind. I like it all.

    18. What’s your favourite SW movie/book/comic?
Film: Return of the Jedi, closely followed by Revenge of the Sith and, after a huge gap, Rogue One
Book: The Adventures of Teebo: A Tale of Magic and Suspense by Joe Johnston
Comic: The current Darth Vader series, both volumes of Legacy, Dawn of the Jedi. Also, anything involving Nomi Sunrider.
    Game: KOTOR

But my top #1 thing is the first season of the Ewoks cartoon.

    19. Who’s your favourite SW character/‘ship?
    Teebo!!!!!

Recently, I've been loving Dr. Aphra a lot. That's the kind of a strong female character I want in my SW, and that is how I want one to dress and act as well.

I am also a fan of Jar Jar Binks and absolutely OK with admitting it. I kind of like Zuckuss, too.

As for ships, Teebo/Latara all the way. Also Female Revan/Carth Onasi and my OCs...let's call the ship D/A. I cannot see romance in everything, it has to mean something to me, amatonormativity leaves me cold.

    Fanfic Reading and Writing Preferences

    20. Romance, adventure, drama, humour or something else?
As long as it's good, I'll read! As for writing...well, wherever the moose takes me to.

    21. Long stories, short stories, poems, songfics or something else?
I do not understand the concept of songfics in general. The rest, I love it all.

    22. Before, Saga or Beyond?
Mostly saga, but I wrote in the other eras, too.

    23. Canon, Legends, AU, crossover?
Any, really. But when the amount of aligning one's stuff to canon or legends surpasses the actual story, I get put off a bit a lot.

    24. Canon/Legends characters or original characters? Any particular favourites you’d like to mention?
Whatever captures my fancy! I cannot subscribe to the view that characters are nothing but tools, it's completely normal to be fond of them and I am.

    25. What type of fic wouldn’t you read/write?
I am not big on romance novel style pornography, because err, nobody choreographs that stuff in real life, people just go and make love away from any cameras. I don't like too much torture, either. While I like LGBTQ stuff, graphic slash actually undermines us LGBTQ people and it's not about us or helping us at all, so...that's another thing I'm not too keen on.

    26. Do you read/write other fandoms or original fiction?
Other fandoms, just trying. Original fiction, yes.

    JCF Questions

    27. What brought you to the JCF? To the Fanfic boards?
I wanted to understand my own life better, why I'm the way I am and what made me the person I am in my thirties. All the roads lead to Rome...I mean, the Ewoks cartoon.

    28. Do you visit Fanfic Resource often? If yes, what are your favourite threads
I love the fanon thread, though it can get a bit overwhelming at times.

    29. Do you venture out of the Fan Fiction boards to other JC forums? If so, which ones?
I don't like confrontations and arguments and since it's easy to get into them among 250K people, I prefer to stay away.

    Other

    30. Anything else we should know about you?
I can lick my own nose. I have undiagnosed ADHD and diagnosed BPD, subtype petulant. I wrestle MDD from time to time, too.

    Bits and Pieces about You
    8. Movie: Blade Runner; Book: The Great Gatsby
    9. Anything that my ear likes (including jazz, 80’s, classical, electronic…oh, and old radio shows)
    10. History (ancient, medieval, maritime, in particular passenger liners…yes, even the Big T(itanic)…I devoted a large part of my life to that subject), literature, theoretical physics
    11. Hamburger. Iced tea. Orangina
    12. Don’t watch much TV anymore (I do watch Penny Dreadful because I’m mildly obsessed with Eva Green as a muse), and only watch movies that come out on DVD.
    13. Art, yes, museums, yep, traveling, oh hell yeah.
    14. “And so we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.” (F. Scott Fitzgerald, final line of The Great Gatsby, also inscribed on his tombstone)

    Star Wars Preferences
    16. Moovieesss
    17. Neither one at present, because the New Canon is still forming itself (so I can’t form a proper opinion), and the Legends Canon is still too overwhelming
    18. ROTJ/the Brian Daley Han Solo novels/no favorite comic
    19. I can’t pick favorites between Luke/Leia/Han…but Han and Leia is the only ship I sail. :p

    Fanfic Reading and Writing Preferences
    20. Romance, adventure, drama, humour or something else?
    21. Long stories, short stories, poems, songfics or something else?
    22. Before and Saga for reading and writing, Beyond for writing my AU GFFA
    23. Canon is okay, but AU allows for more flexibility.
    24. Canon or Original, depending on how they are portrayed
    25. I can never write a 100% Canon fic, either Legends or New. I can never write smut because I’m generally repressed. I can’t read smut either, although sex scenes in the middle of an intelligent and articulate fic are acceptable.
    26. I used to read Horatio Hornblower fics back when that was an active fandom. I’ve written some original fiction that never really went anywhere…that will probably go on my AO3 account one day.

    JCF Questions
    27. I was a lurker on the old JCC during the prequels, and wandered into the fanfic section just before ROTS came out.
    28. Often enough.
    29. I’ve ventured into the TFA Spoilers forum…I’ve read all the spoilers, yes.

    1. Hello, my (user) name is ___________ and I’m a fanficcer.
    Findswoman, Finds for short.

    2. Do you use other handles/socks on the JCF?
I currently run the Fanon Thread by way of the FanonSock, but otherwise I'm all Findswoman, all the time.

    3. When should we wish you a happy birthday?
    October 18.

    4. Which country are you from?
    The United States.

    5. What languages do you speak?
English and German, and I can read Latin, classical Hebrew (I can speak a tiny amount of modern Hebrew but it's been a long time), Italian, and some Spanish and French. I know some very basic things about the morphology and pronunciation of various Slavic languages (Russian, Czech, Polish, and Old Slavonic), but I wish I knew more about them.

    6. What do you do in RL?
I work as an editor in a music publishing house and as an organist.

    7. Are you a writer, a reader or a lurker? A combination thereof?
All of them, at different times.

    Bits and Pieces about You
    8. What’s your favourite non-SW movie/book?
It's very hard to choose just one, but Arthur Conan Doyle's original Sherlock Holmes stories are some of my all-time favorite reading. As movies go, Ingmar Bergman's rendition of Mozart's opera The Magic Flute is pretty well up there.

    9. What sort of music do you like?
My degree is in historical musicology, so I guess that biases me toward what is popularly called classical music. Of that, I have a particular interest in the earlier end of the spectrum—the music of the baroque era and before. I enjoy hearing jazz, even though I don't know much about it. I'm game to at least try listening to almost anything, though.

    10. What hobbies do you have besides fanfic?
Playing the organ, cooking, a touch of gardening, reading when I can.

    11. What’s your favourite food? Your favourite drink? Your favourite guilty pleasure?
Food is another one of those things for which I have a difficult time choosing a favorite, and I'm usually better with choosing favorites when restricted to a specific food category (desserts, snacks, etc.). I guess I'll combine two of these and go with "favorite guilty pleasure food," which might be either York Peppermint Patties or Trader Joe's dark chocolate peanut butter cups. For favorite drinks, my homemade chocolate milk is definitely up there, as is fresh-squeezed orange juice.

    12. Are you a heavy TV watcher? Are you a frequent theatre or movie-goer?
No to both, I'm afraid. We don't own a TV—not out of any particular agenda but mainly just because we currently don't have either a good place for one in the house or the time or inclination to watch much.

    13. Do you like art? Museums? Travelling? Anything else?
I do—all of the above, very much, though my opportunities for them these days are few and far between. Favorite museums include Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry and the Art Institute of Chicago. I also love a good botanical garden, one of my favorites being the Missouri Botanical Garden, where I went with my family almost every summer at one point in my childhood. (By the way, whiskers, I too love the St. Louis Zoo!)

    14. Do you have a favourite quote?
Several, but these four short axioms from Pirke Avot 4:1 stand out:
"Who is wise? One who learns from all.
Who is strong? One who conquers one's inclination.
Who is rich? One who is content with what one has.
Who is honored? One who honors all."

    15. Tell us a fun fact about yourself!
Yes, I am indeed Jewish, even though I have worked for more than ten years now as an organist in churches. Also, one of the semi-humorous SW-related poems that I mention below in no. 21 won first prize in a local high school literary competition type dealie, and I got to read it at a reading at a local bookstore.

    Star Wars Preferences
    16. Are you a SW movie person or an Expanded Universe person?
Some of both, though I guess maybe slightly more movie person because I haven't read as much EU literature as some. Still, I have a great fondness for the various EU guidebooks and RPG guides, which I find to be immense sources of fanfic inspiration.

    17. Are you a SW Legends person or a SW New Canon person?
At this point, definitely Legends, but maybe only because I haven't really gotten the chance to get into a lot of the New Canon material yet.

    18. What’s your favourite SW movie/book/comic/game?
For movies, it's a tossup between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. For the books, I am especially fond of the Tales of story anthologies, especially the Tales of the Bounty Hunters, and, again, the various guidebooks, particularly those on aliens and characters.

    19. Who’s your favourite SW character/‘ship?
For this one I'm really going to have to split it into categories: major hero character (toss-up between Luke and Leia), major villain (Darth Vader), and minor/background character (Zuckuss). I have a fondness in general for almost all the background characters, though, particularly the aliens. I'm not really a shipper; I guess I just never approached SW or fanfic that way, but rather from individual characters and cultures.

    Fanfic Reading and Writing Preferences
    20. Romance, adventure, drama, humour or something else?
Drama with moments of adventure and humor, and maybe a touch of romance if it works well with the story. Occasionally also whimsical humor.

    21. Long stories, short stories, poems, songfics or something else?
Mainly long and short stories. I don't mind working on multiple short stories or a long story at the same time, but I wouldn't feel able to manage more than one long story at the same time. In my teenage years I did a number of humorous and semi-serious SW-related poems, too.

    22. Before, Saga or Beyond?
Mainly Saga, though now I can say I've dabbled a touch in Before.

    23. Canon, Legends, AU, crossover?
At this point, mainly Legends canon, but I'm not averse to trying certain kinds of AU. I think they would be AU in my own corners of the Legends Canon 'verse, though—as in, AU versions of stories I've already written. That's a long way off, though.

    24. Canon/Legends characters or original characters? Any particular favourites you’d like to mention?
I love OCs and much of my work is OC-centric, but I also enjoy Legends characters that might as well be OCs just because they're obscure—that's a fun gray area to work in.

    25. What type of fic wouldn’t you read/write?
I'm not fond of either reading or writing excessive violence or sex or gross humor. I also don't do too well with stories where none of the characters have any sympathetic or redeeming qualities at all. If one is really well done I might give it a read, but I definitely don't feel like the right woman for the job of writing that sort of thing.

    26. Do you read/write other fandoms or original fiction?
As fanfic goes, I'm mainly only active in SW, though I love reading classical mystery stories (I mentioned Sherlock Holmes, and there's also Miss Marple and Lord Peter Wimsey and Father Brown). I wish I could write them too, but that's a skill I haven't picked up yet.

    JCF Questions
    27. What brought you to the JCF? To the Fanfic boards?
I remembered coming across various folks here, notably TrakNar and Goodwood, on the SW Fanon Wiki, and sort of just followed the web trail to here. :D At around the same time, I was considering returning to fanfic writing and brushing off an old, unfinished epic from long ago, and this seemed like the ideal place for doing so.

    28. Do you visit Fanfic Resource often? If yes, what are your favourite threads?
Yes, indeed, very often! In no particular order, I especially enjoy the Social thread, the Writer's Desk (from which I've learned a lot), the Fanon thread, You Know You're a Fan Fiction Writer When..., and the OC Revolution thread.

    29. Do you venture out of the Fan Fiction boards to other JC forums? If so, which ones?
I've visited Lit and the Foodies' Thread of Community now and again, but I mainly stick with Fanfic just because it's been far and away the most welcoming place on these boards that I've come across.

    Other
    30. Anything else we should know about you?
My RL is very hectic, and if I don't respond right away to stories or PMs or otherwise fall behind on various kinds of forum business, that's why. Like Admiral Volshe, I promise I will eventually do it. And commenting order, to paraphrase Yoda, matters not.

    1. Hello, my (user) name is ___________ and I’m a fanficcer. jcgoble3, also known as Jonathan Goble
    2. Do you use other handles/socks on the JCF? Not for myself, though I formerly controlled the Plot Bunny Sock.
    3. When should we wish you a happy birthday? Never. I find birthdays to be pointless. :p (If you must know, January 29.)
    4. Which country are you from? The Divided States of America (or at least that's what the Presidential election made it look like. I still want the U.K.'s system with just 30 days from declaring an election to voting!)
    5. What languages do you speak? English, bad English, and sarcasm. Also Lua, Python, C, HTML, CSS, and a bit of JavaScript, but those are programming and markup languages.
    6. What do you do in RL? I bag groceries at Kroger part-time, though I'm also on disability, which remains my primary source of income. I'm trying to eventually get off of that and support myself, but that's some time away yet.
    7. Are you a writer, a reader or a lurker? A combination thereof? Mostly a reader; occasional writer. I'd like to write more often, but procrastination usually wins. Link to my Prolific Writers' Index entry is in my signature, though it is not necessarily up to date (as I tend to procrastinate on that as well :p).

    Bits and Pieces about You
    8. What’s your favourite non-SW movie/book? John Jackson Miller's Overdraft: The Orion Offensive. I bought it when it was $1.99 as one of the pilots for the Kindle Serials program, being released one part at a time every two weeks, and loved it. Still waiting on the sequel he promised at the end of the book, though.
    9. What sort of music do you like? 80s and 90s country. Garth Brooks, George Strait, etc. The newer stuff I used to like, but now it's like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. The classics (Hank Sr., etc.) I don't care for.
    10. What hobbies do you have besides fanfic? Programming for fun and visiting amusement parks and riding roller coasters.
    11. What’s your favourite food? Your favourite drink? Your favourite guilty pleasure? Food: don't really have a favorite overall. I have a favorite at each restaurant I go to regularly, but I don't want to overload this thread by enumerating every one of those. Drink: chocolate milk at home, Mountain Dew in a restaurant. If the restaurant has Coke products, then I'll take Mello Yello if they have it, or failing that, sweet iced tea. Guilty pleasure: better off keeping that one quiet. ;)
    12. Are you a heavy TV watcher? Are you a frequent theatre or movie-goer? No and no. Literally the only things I watch on TV are Star Wars Rebels and live sporting events. As for movie theaters (which is the correct spelling ;)), I almost never see movies in theaters. In the past year, the only movies I've seen in a theater are The Force Awakens and Rogue One (though I will see Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them very soon).
    13. Do you like art? Museums? Travelling? Anything else? Meh. Art and museums bore me. I do love traveling, but can't afford to do it nearly as often as I like.
    14. Do you have a favourite quote? "Be yourself. No one can say you're doing it wrong." —Charles M. Schulz, creator of the Peanuts comic strip and franchise
    15. Tell us a fun fact about yourself! Before I was out of elementary school, my name and picture had appeared on the front page of the local newspaper three times for good reasons: twice in relation to the "micro society" my school had created, where we simulated a real government and society, complete with city council (I was elected to the very first council), a court system (including lawyers), a post office, and businesses; and once at a local event to support drug abuse education by being in the right place at the right time when the reporter was looking for a brief quote about how awesome the activities were. :D

    Star Wars Preferences
    16. Are you a SW movie person or an Expanded Universe person? I believe that picking and focusing too heavily on one leads to the dark side. Thus, I choose to accept and embrace the totality of the franchise and walk the path of the light. (I actually have reasons behind this other than "dark side" and "light side", but I can't explain them without going on a novel-length rant. :p)
    17. Are you a SW Legends person or a SW New Canon person? Again, I prefer to accept it all. I'm excited for what the new canon will bring us, but I still love my Legends.
    18. What’s your favourite SW movie/book/comic/game? Movie: ROTS (first film, SW or otherwise, that I saw in a theater by myself without a parent). Book: X-Wing: Starfighters of Adumar. Comic: Knights of the Old Republic. Game: Battlefront II.
    19. Who’s your favourite SW character/‘ship? Obi-Wan Kenobi. I don't really have a favorite 'ship (or OTP, as some would call it), but I do like some Obi-Wan/Siri.

    Fanfic Reading and Writing Preferences
    20. Romance, adventure, drama, humour or something else? Don't really have a preference; I'll read almost anything (though I expect my mush to have something resembling a plot also :p).
    21. Long stories, short stories, poems, songfics or something else? Prose, regardless of length or lack thereof. I've hated poems ever since I was forced to write 18 lines of iambic pentameter in my senior year of high school (an assignment that I ended up not completing and taking a zero on). Meh to songfics.
    22. Before, Saga or Beyond? Do I have to pick? :p All of the above, please. :D
    23. Canon, Legends, AU, crossover? No crossovers here. Otherwise, the quality of the story is more important than its "canonicity".
    24. Canon/Legends characters or original characters? Any particular favourites you’d like to mention? No preference for reading; tend to gravitate toward established characters when writing, simply because it's easier. I'm lazy. :p As for favorites, I love Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan action.
    25. What type of fic wouldn’t you read/write? Crossovers or PWP (Porn Without Plot, for those not familiar with that little abbreviation)
    26. Do you read/write other fandoms or original fiction? Write: no. Read: A friend got me into Harry Potter a couple years ago; otherwise, most of my reading is nonfiction stuff relevant to something I'm working on (often a programming book).

    JCF Questions
    27. What brought you to the JCF? To the Fanfic boards? I lurked without an account in the RPF for a while, then finally got intrigued enough with a particular game to register an account and send a cold PM with a character sheet. Eventually, as I realized how close that game was to fan fiction, I slowly drifted over here to fanfic.
    28. Do you visit Fanfic Resource often? If yes, what are your favourite threads? Daily, often multiple times a day. And I try to read every thread in Resource. :p
    29. Do you venture out of the Fan Fiction boards to other JC forums? If so, which ones? As mentioned, I play in an RPG here, so that involves posting in the RPF and RPR. I keep an eye on Comms and try to answer the simpler questions to take a bit of the load off the admins, and I dabble in the Arena section of the JCC.

    Other
    30. Anything else we should know about you? I am mildly autistic (Asperger Syndrome), which is what I'm on disability for. Also, I believe I was born without a sense of smell, though I've never been able to get properly tested to find out. (I know I haven't had a sense of smell for as long as I can remember.)

My typical short answer is, if you wake up with a tube down your throat and a machine breathing for you, I'm the person who is smiling down at you controlling the machine that's breathing for you. I primarily work in critical care, trauma and burns are my favorite units. I'm also on a federal disaster medical assistance team.

    7. Are you a writer, a reader or a lurker? A combination thereof?
Writer and reader. Though, my muse doesn't let me write as much as she used to.

    Bits and Pieces about You
    8. What’s your favourite non-SW movie/book?
These questions are always so hard! Movie: Moulin Rouge, Days of Thunder (sentimental favorite), Love Actually
Book: The Giver by Lois Lowry, Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson, Devil's Waltz by Jonathan Kellerman. Despite this list, I mostly read non-fiction medical and science stuff.

    9. What sort of music do you like?
I like most types of music, but I mostly listen to musicals. My favorite non-musical genre is celtic rock.

    10. What hobbies do you have besides fanfic?
    Baking, sewing, dancing, photography

    11. What’s your favourite food? Your favourite drink? Your favourite guilty pleasure?
    Food: probably sushi
Drink: Coffee in the morning, tea the rest of the time.
Guilty Pleasure: ice cream with chocolate and peanut butter sauce

    12. Are you a heavy TV watcher? Are you a frequent theatre or movie-goer?

I do watch a decent amount of TV, I love TV. While I love movies, I feel like you get more character development in TV and the plots can be a slower burn, more like reading a book.
I also go to live theater quite a bit, mostly musicals, but I do go to plays on occasion.

    13. Do you like art? Museums? Travelling? Anything else?
I like them all! I was a member of two museums in Boston and have plans to do the same thing here in NYC. I try to go to a museum in any new city I go to. I've only been able to start traveling outside the U.S. in the last few years, but I've been trying to make up for it since! I love going to new places!

    14. Do you have a favourite quote?

Ya know, even though I love them, I don't think I do. I find myself thinking about bits of songs, again, mostly from musicals, when I need a boost, motivation or inspiration.

    15. Tell is a fun fact about yourself!
I once got to be in two performances of The Nutcracker with the New York City Theater Ballet. I was 8 and it was a traveling production, but I still got to dance with them!

    Star Wars Preferences
    16. Are you a SW movie person or an Expanded Universe person?

Both! I always loved the movies and continue to do so, but the EU is what really got me into the fandom.

    17. Are you a SW Legends person or a SW New Canon person?

Both. I'll always have a love for some of the Legends stuff, but I'm willing to give NuCanon a shot too.

    18. What’s your favourite SW movie/book/comic/game?

    Movie: Empire Strikes Back
Book: Survivor's Quest, Rogue Squadron or I, Jedi
Comic: I've only read a few, not enough to really have an opinion on at this point in time.
Game: I've only played a little bit of them, but the old Rebel Assault game was a lot of fun.

    19. Who’s your favourite SW character/‘ship?
Characters: Movie character is Luke. EU characters: Ben is probably my favorite but Mara comes a very close second.
    'Ship: Luke/Mara,

    Fanfic Reading and Writing Preferences
    20. Romance, adventure, drama, humour or something else?

I enjoy them all and will read all of them, but drama and angst is probably my favorite.

    21. Long stories, short stories, poems, songfics or something else?
I like them all, what I read usually depends on my mood and/or attention span.

    22. Before, Saga or Beyond?

Mostly Beyond. I do read things in all era's, I've just never been quite as interested in the pre-saga stuff. I didn't read the books for that era either.

    23. Canon, Legends, AU, crossover?

Again, I enjoy them all. I love a good AU, crossovers can be a lot of fun. I like stories that try to stay canon, and Legends is where I spend the most time.

    24. Canon/Legends characters or original characters? Any particular favourites you’d like to mention?

I prefer established characters. I LOVE OCs that are in stories with Canon/Legends characters, but I tend not to really like strictly OC stories. I read fanfic because I want to read about my favorite characters that have already been established.

    25. What type of fic wouldn’t you read/write?

Real person fic makes me uncomfortable since they are real people but other than that... I read pretty much anything. I used to say I wouldn't read some things, and then found out that I totally would, so I try not to say I'd never.

    26. Do you read/write other fandoms or original fiction?
This is certainly my biggest fandom, that's for sure. I've written a little bit (and read) for House, Brothers & Sisters, White Collar, Torchwood and just started my first Queer as Folk fic (which might be kinda weird because it's been off the air for 10 years!). I also read NCIS.

    JCF Questions
    27. What brought you to the JCF? To the Fanfic boards?

I visited the main site to learn about ROTS updates before it came out. I then found the old Fanfic archive from the main site, read a bunch there and then awhile later discovered the forums. Fanfic is what made me register and start to take part after lurking for quite a while, I've been here ever since.

    28. Do you visit Fanfic Resource often? If yes, what are your favourite threads?

All the time! I don't know that I have a current favorite, maybe the writer's desk or the social thread. The old Ben Skywalker thread used to be my favorite place, I wrote a lot a stories from challenges there.

    29. Do you venture out of the Fan Fiction boards to other JC forums? If so, which ones?
Part of my job is in the new movies forums so I'm there a lot, the ST Spoilers Allowed is the fastest moving so most of my new movies time is there. I also go to the JCC, though I take moods as to if I lurk or post. I didn't go there for a very long time because it's a whole different world/dynamic, but now that I know quite a few people IRL, I go there more.

    Other
    30. Anything else we should know about you?
I'm pretty much impossible to gross out. I can discuss blood, guts and mucus in detail and eat at the same time. I can be in a room with blood, guts and brains and talk about what I want to eat. This is a skill pretty much everyone in a hospital develops, don't go into a break room in a hospital if you have a weak stomach.

I'm somewhat of an adrenaline junky. The emergency department is my favorite place to work, I always volunteer to go to CODEs, I'm on a disaster medical assistance team, I would love to be on a search and rescue team. I like and do my best work in the middle chaos and high pressure situations.

I'm very introverted, which may seem like it doesn't work with the above, but in chaos, everyone is just doing what they have to do and not talking about anything that isn't of absolute importance and everyone is left to pretty much do what they do best.

Hello, my name is Kelia and I am an fanficcer when the muse cooperates, which hasn’t been at all lately but I am hopeful after the new movie comes out, that will change. I’ve been around for…gosh 10 years! My how time flies.

My other handle/socks are for co-author stories and they are Kelia-Jen and Kelia-Lily.

I welcome birthday wishes on April 19 – just don’t ask how old I am. LOL. I am from the United States and I speak English

I am a medical billing specialist in real life.

Ah, question 7. If anyone remembers me, I was quite active and then the muse sailed off to margaritaville and forgot to come back. For now, I am a casual reader.

My favorite movie….hmmmm…..just one? I’d have to say Fidler on the Roof and I’m not a big fan of musicals but that one was just awesome. I enjoy mostly country music but 80’s pop is also fun to listen to. For hobbies, I’m a big reader and I enjoy, probably too many, games on my Kindle Fire.
My favorite food is anything with melted cheese…seriously, I think I’d eat a pile of dirt with the right cheese melted on it. LOL. Tea is my favorite drink and my guilty pleasure – chocolate!
I don’t watch much TV but when I do, it’s probably a food competition show and I never go to the movies anymore. Between Netflix and the Redbox, there’s no need and it costs too much.
I’m not into art at all but I love nature or animal pictures. Traveling is usually restricted to where I can drive and I enjoy going to nature places – grand canyon, botanical gardens, Niagara falls ect.
My favorite quote – anyone who knows me can probably answer that “Do or do not, there is no try.”

For star wars preferences – I stick to the moves and expanded universe. I’m not at all familiar with legends or new cannon. I think my favorite SW movie is Return of the Jedi – just because I love a happy ending. My favorite character without question is Yoda.

I like adventure and humor stories the most but I read just about all of them. I’m not as big of a fan of poems or songfics but I have read them from time to time. I like all the genres but I prefer stories that have at least some of the canon characters. I don’t read horror fics because they tend to be a bit too intense for me. I do not read or write in other fandoms.
I came to the boards because of my love of star wars and being able to read and write stories. I’m come to the resource a couple times a week, though I don’t know if I have any favorite threads. I don’t venture over to any other fandoms.

For anything else – just that I hope to be a more active writer after I see the new movie. I miss writing a lot but ideas for new stories have run dry.

    JCF Questions
    27. What brought you to the JCF? To the Fanfic boards?

I think it was some blog post. And to fanfic: I watched the Clone Wars movie and it pissed me off that they gave Anakin a padawan so I had to kill her off.

    28. Do you visit Fanfic Resource often? If yes, what are your favourite threads?

Yes, but I don’t really have a favourite. The social thread usually has some good, abet random, conversations going on.

    Not often.

    30. Anything else we should know about you?

    Not at present.

    3. When should we wish you a happy birthday?

11 September, and I welcome birthday wishes.

    4. Which country are you from?

The United States of America, formerly the greatest country in the world but these days, not so much.

    5. What languages do you speak?

English, Bad English, and possibly enough Spanish to conduct a retail transaction and ask for translations.

    6. What do you do in RL?

Right now I'm a professional slacker, for various reasons. Trust me, it's not as glamorous as it sounds.

    7. Are you a writer, a reader or a lurker? A combination thereof?

    Mostly, just a writer.

    Bits and Pieces about You
    8. What’s your favorite non-SW movie/book?

Movie: Blazing Saddles. Book: Conrad's War by Andrew Davies

    9. What sort of music do you like?

Just about anything except rap (save for a very tiny selection of songs) and country/country-western (there's a popular joke out there about what happens when you play a country song backwards). However, my very favorite genres are classical music (both classical and contemporary, especially film scores and anything with a really "epic" choral element), classic and psychedelic rock, and more modern alternative rock.

    10. What hobbies do you have besides fanfic?

Scale model building (aircraft, armor, ships), video games (Proud Member of the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race), occasional bouts of singing (tenor-baritone), and LEGO.

    11. What’s your favorite food? Your favorite drink? Your favorite guilty pleasure?

Food: You just can't beat a well-made bacon cheeseburger. Drink: Dr. Pepper. Guilty pleasure: You don't want to know. ;)

    12. Are you a heavy TV watcher? Are you a frequent theatre or movie-goer?

No, not really. Most anything worth watching is available online, but if something is coming to theatres that is especially interesting, I'll go watch it (last film was The Martian).

    13. Do you like art? Museums? Travelling? Anything else?

If I could afford to travel, I most definitely would—though the destination matters little, I'd particularly enjoy full tours of the UK and Australia, including all the museums (except art museums...most of them aren't all that interesting).

    14. Do you have a favorite quote?

Besides the one in my signature, there's a couple of others that I particularly like, however they do have swearing in them. As a poor substitute, I offer this Christopher Hitchens quote: "That which can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence." And this one by C. S. Lewis: “Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”

    15. Tell is a fun fact about yourself!

In June of 2004, I got to take the controls of, and perform aerobatic maneuvers in, an AT-6 Texan trainer. It is an experience I shall never forget.

    Star Wars Preferences
    16. Are you a SW movie person or an Expanded Universe person?

    Both.

    17. Are you a SW Legends person or a SW New Canon person?

Legends. Right now I have zero motivation to even examine NuCanon, much less make a judgment call.

    18. What’s your favorite SW movie/book/comic/game?

Movie: ROTJ; book: I, Jedi by Michael Stackpole, despite Corran Horn's decidedly Gary Stu-ish performance; comic: none, as I don't read them; game: KotOR I and II.

    19. Who’s your favorite SW character/‘ship?

Character: Wedge Antilles; ship: Revan/Bastila (naturally).

    Fanfic Reading and Writing Preferences
    20. Romance, adventure, drama, humour or something else?

Action-adventure, particularly in the realm of military campaigns and such, as well as intrigue and humor in appropriate doses. Haven't done a crackfic on purpose, though there was one time when I wrote a deliberately dark story just to see how far I'd be willing to take it.

    21. Long stories, short stories, poems, songfics or something else?

Typically long-form prose of novel length, though I've written up a few short stories here and there. Poetry is an acquired taste, however, and I'm not sure it's my cup of tea as far as writing it goes.

    22. Before, Saga or Beyond?

Before, but have ventured into Beyond territory.

    23. Canon, Legends, AU, crossover?

Legends canon almost exclusively, including "continuity porn."

    24. Canon/Legends characters or original characters? Any particular favorites you’d like to mention?

Original characters are my bag, but I'll include Legends characters where appropriate, nearly all of whom come from KotOR and related material.

    25. What type of fic wouldn’t you read/write?

I stay as far away as possible (as a writer, anyway) from straight-up romance. While it can help drive the plot while at the same time serving as a large part of character development, it alone cannot carry a story in my opinion. Particularly in my genre of choice.

    26. Do you read/write other fandoms or original fiction?

Back when Mass Effect 2 had been out for a fair bit and everyone was looking forward to the final game in the trilogy, I dabbled a bit in that 'verse at the BioWare forums. But other than that, the only non-Star Wars fiction I've ever written was original material; I currently have a completed historical fiction novel sitting in my computer, about a World War II fighter pilot.

    JCF Questions
    27. What brought you to the JCF? To the Fanfic boards?

@TrakNar said it'd be a good place to hang out, so I joined about a month after she did.

    28. Do you visit Fanfic Resource often? If yes, what are your favorite threads?

I almost always have a tab open on this forum, so yes. My favorite threads are the social, You Know..., Resource, and Pet Peeves threads, plus the Nuggets of Awesome thread that I started.

    29. Do you venture out of the Fan Fiction boards to other JC forums? If so, which ones?

Occasionally I've visited the JCC, but the crowd there tends to favor a certain set of opinions, and woe betide anyone who disagrees with certain bits of dogma over there.

    30. Anything else we should know about you?

I managed to survive for a year working 24+ hour weeks (some as long as 36) at a 7-Eleven across the street from my condo complex, and it nearly killed me.

    2. Do you use other handles/socks on the JCF?
I created a new one recently for the sock-hop, but I haven't used it since.

    20 November!

    4. Which country are you from?
    The USA

    5. What languages do you speak?

    6. What do you do in RL?
Learn! Various subjects. I also draw and write.

Definitely a combination. I've only recently began posting stuff in this forum again. I took a break from writing for awhile and I'm just starting up again.

    Bits and Pieces about You
    8. What’s your favourite non-SW movie/book?
Films: Pan's Labyrinth, The LotR Trilogy
Books: Anything Tolkien. I'm also fond of Tamora Pierce and the Pellinor Series by Alison Croggan.

    9. What sort of music do you like?
I'm not very picky when it comes to this. I only truly dislike country. In particular, I listen to Two Steps From Hell, Florence + the Machine and Imagine Dragons.

    10. What hobbies do you have besides fanfic?
Drawing, learning new languages, sciences and ancient mythology and history.

    11. What’s your favourite food? Your favourite drink? Your favourite guilty pleasure?
Food: Cheese and Fruit (not at the same time)
    Drink: Herbal Tea
    Guilty Pleasure: Definitely cheesecake.

    12. Are you a heavy TV watcher? Are you a frequent theatre or movie-goer?
I don't watch much TV. Doctor Who is my big one. I like going to the theatre when there's something good on, though.

    13. Do you like art? Museums? Travelling? Anything else?
    All three!

    14. Do you have a favourite quote?
    "We, unaccustomed to courage
    exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
    and comes into our sight
    to liberate us into life."

    16. Are you a SW movie person or an Expanded Universe person?
    A little bit of both.

    17. Are you a SW Legends person or a SW New Canon person?
I prefer to make up my own canon :p

    18. What’s your favourite SW movie/book/comic/game?
Film: Empire Strikes Back. I don't really have any answers to the other questions haha.

    19. Who’s your favourite SW character/‘ship?
    Quinlan Vos and TIE Interceptors

    Fanfic Reading and Writing Preferences
    20. Romance, adventure, drama, humour or something else?
All of them! Humour is rarer and usually injected into the adventure and drama stories.

    21. Long stories, short stories, poems, songfics or something else?
I prefer longer stories. Occasionally I'll do a songfic if I find something really good.

    22. Before, Saga or Beyond?
I've done before and saga, never beyond. I'm not knowledgeable enough about beyond to comfortably write something in that era.

    23. Canon, Legends, AU, crossover?
    Any of the above.

    24. Canon/Legends characters or original characters? Any particular favourites you’d like to mention?
Both! I really like writing Quinlan Vos and I've become very fond of two particular OC's of mine.

    25. What type of fic wouldn’t you read/write?
Probably nothing strictly canon. My personal canon includes a lot of variations and I find only canon very hard to adhere to. But I'll read just about anything.

    26. Do you read/write other fandoms or original fiction?
I write original fiction and I've done the occasional Doctor Who and LotR fics, but that's pretty rare.

    JCF Questions
    27. What brought you to the JCF? To the Fanfic boards?
I honestly can't remember what brought me back to the JCF. But with fanfic, I was trying to get over my phobia of sharing my work with others.

    28. Do you visit Fanfic Resource often? If yes, what are your favourite threads?
I visit occasionally, though it's getting more frequent. Like Volshe said, my favourite thread was the Worst Fanfic thread from the Temp Boards.

    29. Do you venture out of the Fan Fiction boards to other JC forums? If so, which ones?
I'm a frequent poster in the JCC and SWC.

Hello, my name is Chyntuck (Chyn for short) and I’m an irredeemable fanficcer.

You’ll see me around disguised as the ProlificWritersSock, the OCIndexSock and the FanficIndex (Anyone notice a pattern here? Yup, I like indexes ;) )

My birthday is on 05 July and I love birthday wishes.

I’m from Greece, but my father was an Egyptiote (a Greek from Egypt) and my maternal grandmother is a Romaniote Jew, so I have cousins in both Egypt and Israel. Plus, of course, relatives scattered all over the world – it’s a big fat Greek family after all.

Other than Greek and English, I’m reasonably fluent in French and I can speak (unfortunately not read or write) the Egyptian dialect of Arabic. I also know Latin and Ancient Greek, but my Latin is rather rusty.

I work for a human rights non-profit in Athens, mostly with migrants and refugees, but I’ve dabbled in minority and children’s rights too.

I was a certified lurker on these boards for so long that I still tend to define myself that way, but since I registered in 2014 I made a lot of progress. Now I should probably say that I’m a writer and an avid reader. You can find the list of my fics in the Prolific Writers’ Index here.

    Bits and Pieces about Me

My favourite non-SW books for the past several years (actually decades) are One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez and the Drifting Cities trilogy by Stratis Tsirkas. In my pantheon of world literature they’re sitting just next to God.

I particularly like two sorts of Greek music called rebetiko and éntekhno. Rebetiko is a genre historically associated with the most disadvantaged social groups, including (but not limited to) the underworld, and it makes for great evenings singing with friends. Entekhno is orchestral music that incorporates elements from Greek folk music. If you ever saw the movie Zorba the Greek, the composer of the soundtrack, Mikis Theodorakis, is one of the masters of éntekhno, although my favourite composer in that genre is Stavros Xarchakos.

My other hobbies are cooking (and eating of course!), arguing, reading and embroidery.

My favourite food is chick peas, lots! of chick peas, in any shape or form. My favourite drink is the Greek version of moonshine, tsipouro, although I keep a cap on my consumption of that 8-} I also drink a lot of STRONG BLACK coffee. My favourite guilty pleasure is sour cherries preserved in syrup. If I get going I’ll eat the whole jar. You probably guessed by now that I’m not a healthy lifestyle person.

I hardly ever watch TV, but that’s because TV in my country sucks :( I used to go a lot to the theatre and the cinema, but with all the pay cuts and tax hikes we took because of the current financial crisis in Greece, I had to cut back on both.

I love travelling, and to me discovering a country’s art and museums is an integral part of the experience. So far I’ve visited quite a few places in Europe, plus Egypt, Israel and the United States, and when I grow up and am rich enough I’ll go on fancy trips to faraway places like the Silk Road and the Great Wall of China. Until that happens, I’ll keep going to Paris and Istanbul as often as possible, because they’re the two greatest cities in the world ^:)^

My favourite quote is the closing stanzas of C. P. Cavafy’s poem Ithaka:
Hmmm... A fun fact about me. I was in a meeting with the Greek Minister of Public Order in February 2011 (i.e. during the Egyptian revolution), and I said that the Hellenic Police are worthy of Mubarak’s camel-riding undercover security forces. I thought he was going to blow up [face_mischief]

    Star Wars Preferences

To me it’s all Star Wars, whether movies or EU, or Legends or New Canon, so I love it all! I’m a bit picky when it comes to EU stuff though – some of it is amazing, and some is utter tripe, which is why I’m not particularly unhappy with the Great Disney Reboot™. I’ll just keep reading the bits I like, and shift to New Canon for the bits I dislike.

In terms of favourites, my fave film is TESB, because it’s the first one I saw in the cinema with my dad at the age of seven. I like all of Timothy Zahn’s books, but I have a particular fondness for Scoundrels, because Ocean’s Eleven meets Star Wars just had to be written. I also really like the SW: Republic comics series. My favourite character, hands down, is Artoo-Deetoo, although I have a feeling that BB-8 may be supplanting him soon.

    Fanfic Reading and Writing Preferences

As a reader, I’m open to pretty much anything, and I’ll even overlook glaring problems like bad grammar, spelling or formatting if the story itself catches my attention. The only two things that are guaranteed to turn me off from even trying to read a fic are authors who complain about the quantity or quality of their reviews, and claims that ‘my fic is unique’ I read mostly SWFF in Saga and Beyond, but I’ve been trying to learn more about the Before era and I’m getting there – although I still need to figure out this TOR/KotOR thing [face_hypnotized] I occasionally venture in the NSWFF boards, where there are true gems to be found.

As a writer, I focused so far on the Saga era and the Legends continuity, but I’ve been writing fanfic for only a year or so, and I’m looking forward to trying out new things in the future. I have a soft spot for original characters, which probably stems from the fact that I started out as a writer of original fiction – I write mystery novels in Greek, and I’ve already published two. The one thing I don’t see myself writing is poetry, at least not in English. I feel that it requires a mastery of the language I’ll never have.

    JCF Questions

What brought me to the JCF was the advent of the age of the internet in Greece. I’m old enough to remember the time when you had to wait for the pages to load because your internet connexion was too slow. As for fanfic, well, SW stories were always what I found interesting and fun about SW, so it was my natural destination once I found the place. However, you’ll also find me lurking in Lit and occasionally participating in some Senate threads. I also spend a lot of time on the Foodies’ Thread in the JCC, because talking about food is good for the soul =P~

Fanfic Resource is my bane, because I must be spending more time reading resource threads than story threads. It’s full of interesting people and interesting conversations, and what’s worse, it keeps breeding plot bunnies I’ll never find time to write. At the same time, I’m stingy when it comes to my ideas, so you won’t see me in the Plot Bunny index, but I’ll read and often participate in pretty much all the other threads.

    Other

I married my childhood sweetheart on 30 September 2015, after knowing each other and being in love for exactly thirty years. He’s also a SW fanfic addict and if he ever registers here, his user name will be Mr Chyntuckopoulos.

    1. Hello, my (user) name is Annia Piet and I’m a fanficcer.
    2. Do you use other handles/socks on the JCF?

    No

    4. Which country are you from?

    UK

    5. What languages do you speak?

English. Languages were my weakest subject at school, but they did manage to beat a smattering of French into me

    6. What do you do in RL?

    Charity worker

    7. Are you a writer, a reader or a lurker? A combination thereof?

All three. I’ve always been a terrible fandom lurker, but over the last couple of years I’ve been trying to make myself actually engage with other fans online more. I find it difficult as a lot of fan forum debates make me just roll my eyes and not want to engage. But I’ve found fanficcers seem to be a pleasant bunch to loiter near. I’m still not very talkative online though (quite the opposite of real life me!)

    Bits and Pieces about You
    8. What’s your favourite non-SW movie/book?

I’m a big film watcher and book reader, so it’s very difficult to pick just one of each. Today I’ll go with Casablanca and The Crow Road

    9. What sort of music do you like?

Any style so long as it speaks to me. I particularly like things with a strong lyric or that I feel I can dance to (and in more than just a disco-dance kind of way – I did ballet and a variety of other dance when younger that I still like to practice from time to time)

    10. What hobbies do you have besides fanfic?

Too many! I seem to collect hobbies. They include reading writing, photography, film, history with a focus on social and fashion history, folklore, RPGs, larp, living history, costuming, a range of arts and crafts that’s frankly getting a bit out of hand… I’m just endlessly curious about trying my hand at new things really.

    11. What’s your favourite food? Your favourite drink? Your favourite guilty pleasure?

Tapas, wine, and green and blacks butterscotch chocolate

    12. Are you a heavy TV watcher? Are you a frequent theatre or movie-goer?

I watch a lot of TV on DVD, but rarely just watch whatever’s on. I used to regularly go to theatre and movies, but small children have squashed that out for now!

    13. Do you like art? Museums? Travelling? Anything else?

Yes! But again, small children make enjoying them difficult at the moment (although I’m getting round that by instilling a love of museums into my child. He’s only 3 and already wants to be an archaeologist!)

    14. Do you have a favourite quote?

“We do not stop playing because we get old; we get old because we stop playing”

    15. Tell is a fun fact about yourself!

Um… Something obscure: I’ve spent a lot of time in Royal Palaces, but never met the Queen.

    Star Wars Preferences
    16. Are you a SW movie person or an Expanded Universe person?

    Both.

    17. Are you a SW Legends person or a SW New Canon person?

Both, although I’m treating New Canon cautiously. The quality in the old EU was so variable, much as I love it, I don’t think I will have the patience I had in my teens to put up with wading through poor output to get to the good stuff. So we shall see.

    18. What’s your favourite SW movie/book/comic/game?

Empire Strikes Back/The Thrawn Trilogy/Mara Jade: By the Emperor’s Hand

    19. Who’s your favourite SW character/‘ship?

Mara Jade, ever since I first read Heir to the Empire when it first came out (that book is what turned me into a Star Wars fan). I also adore Luke, Leia, Han and Artoo, and have a big soft sport for Obi Wan. Favourite ‘ship is Luke/Mara, unsurprisingly. I’m not a big shipper generally and so L/M is a genuine ‘OTP’ for me I guess (though I’ll always adore Leia/Han too)

    Fanfic Reading and Writing Preferences
    20. Romance, adventure, drama, humour or something else?

General fiction that manages to combine them all is my preference – if yu can bring tem all together well, you’ve probably captured the spirit of the Saga! However, I can appreciate well written works in any of them individually too.

    21. Long stories, short stories, poems, songfics or something else?

Long and short. Not keen on poems and songfics (although I love poetry generally, just not in fanfic for some reason)

    22. Before, Saga or Beyond?

Saga and Beyond. Before has never grabbed me.

    23. Canon, Legends, AU, crossover?

Canon, Legends and AU, usually put off by crossover, although I can think of at least one crossover fic I have loved. I have a soft spot for AU (wel, Legends EU did lend itself very well to being ‘fixed’!)

    24. Canon/Legends characters or original characters? Any particular favourites you’d like to mention?

I’m not keen on OCs, unless I’ve been hooked into them through a fic featuring canon/legends characters. I read fanfic to spend time with the characters I love. However, as someone who writes a lot of my own original fiction too, and can see the appeal of writing original characters, so this is not a criticism of those who do!

    25. What type of fic wouldn’t you read/write?

Crossovers generally. I’m not keen on smut, although if I come across it within a good story (on other websites, obviously!) I’ll generally just skim over it to the next bit! It’s weird because I’m not easily shocked or made uncomfortable by that kindof content in other contexts, but for some reason Star Wars is to me PG even in my head!

    26. Do you read/write other fandoms or original fiction?

I’ve occasionally dipped into other fandom fics when I’m really into a film or TV series (usually when waiting for the next instalment!) but nothing has held my interest for long. I’ve never written non-Star Wars fanfic but I write a lot of original fiction and always have (I only started writing fanfic this year), and have a finished (but awful) original novel sitting on my hard-drive.

    JCF Questions
    27. What brought you to the JCF? To the Fanfic boards?

The prospect of the sequel trilogy reignited my interest in fandom after being out of it for a number of years (I never stopped loving Star Wars, but it took a back seat to other things for a long time) and I found my way to the Episode VII forums, where I lurked for quite a while. Eventually I concluded the fanfic boards are the friendliest place around here and migrated in this direction J

    28. Do you visit Fanfic Resource often? If yes, what are your favourite threads?

I do when I’m looking for something specific. I’d like to engage in conversations more and get to know people, but a combination of lack of time and old lurker habits mean I don’t manage it much!

    29. Do you venture out of the Fan Fiction boards to other JC forums? If so, which ones?

I sometimes lurk in new films (less now as I got t the point of being as spoiled as I want to be a while back) and literature, but very rarely comment

    30. Anything else we should know about you?

Not sure. Mainly just that I think people should like what they like within the franchise and be proud about it and no-body should lecture others about what they should and shouldn’t like. We’re all just here for the joy that Star Wars brings us, in whatever form, aren’t we?
