    Wow, these are quite good! I love how you showed the strands of Yoda's hair and the detail that you added with every stroke. :) Very impressive - keep it up!

    Great work! Especially with both of the Yoda images...you've really captured his personality them and wonderful work on the details such as wrinkles and hair here. :) And that Jawa is priceless...there isn't enough Jawa artwork around here come to think of it so well done! :D

    Welcome to Fanart and congrats on de-lurking and hope to see some more from you really soon.

    Thank you so much for the great comments guys! It's really encouraging. I might update in a few days, though not with any large project like the Yodas. Maybe some more jawas. Fun and relativly easy to draw, and cute too. Lovely buggers.

    Very nice work and I'm glad you decided to share them with us! :D

    All of your pieces are fairly strong. Nice likenesses in all of them and you also have a great handling on shading. As for your strongest piece - I'm going to have to disagree with you here and say that your OT Yoda really stands out to me. There's a lot of nice things going on in it and overall, it sends the message across best. The ROTS Yoda is also good, but I think it suffers from a bit of proportional problems. Nothing major, but something to keep an eye on. ;)

    Excellent work and I can't wait to see what else you have to offer! :D

    Actually, Fenrisulven, the OT one is my favorite. So far on these threads, I've only seen one that I like better. It may not be as visually accurate as ROTS Yoda (your fave) but the OT one conveys more of his personality, IMHO. A like it very much!

    Hansolo29: Thanks for the kind words! And thanks for telling me about the proportions. I tried to get them right, but I concentrated mostly on his eyes. What proportions are wrong exactly?

    Zonoma: Thanks you! It's nice to hear that it looks good, especially considering the time I spent on it. What I personly don't like with is some of the shading. Next time I draw Yoda I think I'll try it on a slightly colored paper so I can have the hair and some of the reflections stand out in white.

    And now to some updates:

    [image=http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b127/snointemittnamn/Stormtrupp.jpg]

    A stormtrooper inspired by a thread I read a while ago about the difference in coolness between the stormtroopers and the clonetroopers. So I made this one in hope to make them look a little better. I've tried to color it, but I'm no good at it. Should anyone else wish to color it feel free to do so, I would be grateful.

    [image=http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b127/snointemittnamn/Ljussvrd.jpg]

    A bunch of lightsabers I finished today.

    [image=http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b127/snointemittnamn/Anakin.jpg]

    Portraits is really not my strong side, and I want to get better at them. So I'm posting this one of Anakin hoping that I could get some advise on what/how I could improve it; especially the hair.

    That's all for the moment.

    Wow, I can't believe I haven't put a comment in your thread yet, Fenrisulven! :oops: Color me clueless! ;)

    I really like your work--I'm a pencil-person myself, so I really love to see how others use them! In the original post, I think the OT Yoda is my favorite, although the ROTS Yoda comes in a close second: both are wonderful likenesses (and Yoda is pretty tough, so well done!), and have a terrific "volume" with the shading you've done.

    In these last pieces, I think I like the trooper best--very original armoring on him, and a good pose, too!

    Re: your portrait of Anakin, and the request for help... I think this is a good beginning--the emotion is right there already: very intense, very angry. You might want to take a minute or two and compare your drawing to the reference photo you're using--turn them both all around, and compare them sideways, upside down, in a mirror. The different angles can help you to spot things that need adjustment. I think there might be a touch "too much head," there on the right--it might also be the billowing of the hair, but if you take a look at the drawing and the photo as I've suggested, it might help you to check. And with hair...we all struggle with that, lol! Our esteemed mod, HanSolo29 shared a good technique with me: identify the "dark" areas in the mass of the hair, and shade those in first--then the slightly "lighter" areas, etc.--then you can add in some "strands," to show how it lays on the head, or over the face. This can give a decent effect for hair. Anakin's hair is tough, with all the curls and layers...give me "the 'hooded shot' " to work from any day, lol! Hope I've been some help, and I'm looking forward to seeing how you finish this one!

    FalconFan: Thank you, it's really nice hearing advice from you since I really admire your art. I made another Anakin today (finally...)

    [image=http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b127/snointemittnamn/Anakin2.jpg]

    I've practiced the hairtechnique on a few other portraits I did, and it looks much better than before. But I didn't quite succeed when applying it to Anakin. I'll draw Obi-Wan next time, easier hair, lol. I think I overdid the strands of hair a bit. Corrected the jaw and rhinoneck too. I'm having a really tough time drawing headshapes...

    To_Mega_Therion: Thanks!

    Great work on your latest pictures! :) You're really coming along with your portraiture. Great work with applying that hair technique as used by many of our best graphite artists here, it's great to get such wonderful advice isn't it?

    Oh and by the way, those sabers look wonderful...really well done with reproducing the metallic skiny finish! I always have a heap of trouble with all the reflections and whatnot. I had no idea Sidious' saber looked so cool...wonderful job there! :D

    Well done and hope to see more really soon!

    Hey Fenrisulven, sorry it's been so long since I dropped in! You have some great new pieces up--and I'm glad the "hair technique" seems to be helping!

    I agree with Corellian_Rogue that the lightsabers are wonderful! It's always great fun to see them in finer detail than we get to in the films!

    The Obi Wan portrait is very good--I especially love the way you've done the eyes: they're highlighted beautifully, and look very real! You also handled the "rim-light" effect very well, touching it to the hair, his robes and the edge of his face. I forget--are you working in charcoal or pencils? Try blending the dark shaded areas with a paper Kleenex wrapped around your little finger--it helps to smooth out the strokes. These are looking very good!

    Corellian Rogue: Thanks mate =) Yeah, it sure feels good getting those kind of advices that makes everything so much easier, even if you need to practice it some. Glad you liked the lightsabres, especially Sidious' since that was the hardest one to make; hard when there's almost no straight lines like the other ones has.

    FalconFan Why thank you! Glad to hear that the eyes looks good, that's probably what I've practiced most on drawing correctly. And I'm using pencils. For these latest pictures I've used a 2H, a 2B and a 7B.

    And here's some updates:

    [image=http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b127/snointemittnamn/BobaFett001.jpg]

    Boba Fett. As you can see he's not quite finished. The helmet itself took so long time that I'm a bit fed up with that drawing for now. But I'll finish it someday. Hopefully...

    [image=http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b127/snointemittnamn/Mustafarcopy.jpg]

    And here's my attempt to photoshop-render Mustafar.

    Oooo--very cool render of Mustafaar!! I guess I missed that the planet was a satellite of a larger body--that would have to be a gas giant then (something like Europa to Jupiter...I think I got the right moon! lol!). Very, very cool--excellent correlation of lighting between the two bodies, with beautiful "hot spots" on the dark side of Mustafaar! Wonderful! The sketch of Boba's helmet is great in the details--I rather like this type of "close-up" portrait (although we don't really get much from Boba in the way of emotion or expression, lol!)--it's fun to see his helmet like this. I like it! Well done!

    Nicely done on drawing in so much detail of age and wear on Boba Fett's helmet, as well as on the dark shade applied for the inside. And it's a fantastic render of Mustafar. I myself was unaware like FF of the fact that it was a satellite. It has both a great texture (as does the larger planet in the back), and a firey colour to make it look like a big rock made up of molten lava.

    Hugs on you all for the comments [:D]

    FalconFan: Thank you for the comments! And thank you for all the good advice you've given me. I think you're right about the planet being a gasgiant. I never thought about it but rather thought it was covered in clouds when I saw it.

    Idun: Why hello there Idun. Thank you for the compliments!

    Hey, can't you start your own thread here? Your art is really beautiful after all...

    Your_Worshipfullness: Hello, and thank you so much! Glad you liked Boba, that gives me motivation to finish it.

    No updates today. I'm working on some lightsabres at the moment. Maybe I'll even finish them someday.

    =D= Very good work, Fenrisulven!

    Love your interpretation of Mustafar (*kicks self - must learn to use Photoshop*).

    The detailed "scarring" on Fett's helmet is excellent. My favorite of your drawings, though, is OT - Yoda. Wonderful sketchy technique that really brings Yoda to life. Great job!

    Thank you for the compliments Oldjedinurse! Sorry it took so long to answer; I've been a bit busy this month. Anyway, I'll give you a hug for being so nice to me.

    Well, I haven't completed the lightsabres that I talked about; and neither have I finished the Boba Fett-piece. What I have done is another Yoda-piece. This is kind of a remake of the ROTS-Yoda in my first post. A great thanks to Aurélia for the skin-tutorial in her thread [:D]. It was most helpful when I made this piece. Unfortunatly I managed to make Yoda look like he spends a little to much time in the sun; and not enough time sleeping. Ah well... here he is:

    Wow, Fenrisulven!! That's a great portrait of Yoda!! I love the capture of expression here--is this the scene where he's finally meeting Darth Sidious? What a great duel that was, between those two... The detailing in his face is wonderful (I still don't know how people draw this little fellow...so many details...), but what really makes this is his expression. Wonderful piece! =D=

    Falconfan: Thanks! I'm glad that you liked his expression since I wasn't very satisfied with it; nice to know that it looks good after all.

    Well, the reference-picture isn't from a particular scene. But since he looks rather pissed and his lightsaber is activated the duel vs Sidious sounds like a pretty good guess, lol. -dreams of making a good drawing of the duel-
