Who is interested in a Manchester/North West FF?

If so how do we sort it and what do we do.

Yes and it's based in Manchester at that be thankful it's not a true Manc and has been tempered in the Lakes

 

Yup, we had all these Chapters before and they died a miserable death... sorry to be so negative about Chapters but I never thought they worked and don't hold much hope for them in the future really to be honest... sorry.

 

Even if we don't get a chapter up and running it'd be nice to know who is in my area who is a fan!

 

I'm a Manchester lad but since I only joined the boards the other day I wouldn't be wild about committing myself to another FanForce chapter.

 

Your best bet is to advertise your group as primarily a Star Wars group, "but all Sci-Fi and film fans welcome". That way you'll probably have a better response, 'cause not all Sci-Fi fans are hardcore Star Wars fans. Take me, for example, I'm not a hardcore Star Wars fan, but rather a fan of Sci-Fi and movies across the board.

Another good place to advertise is the local comic book shop - that way you're bound to hit the kinda fan who'll keep your chapter alive unlike us '05'ers who only signed up for ROTS

The chapters haven't come up yet, and I fear most will fall apart if they do try. I give the advice to anyone thinking of starting one to have patiance (I can't spell, but you know what I mean, if you don't I don't care).

And also Mr WelshGuy, if that is your real name, I would feel more sorry for the RSA when I start drinking Bruce's finest whisky again....And the suppliers, Tesco's, is opening up 5 minutes down the road from me, and I am getting a job there, which means discount.....

At the risk of over stepping my boundaries here, but I agree with Nic.

There's a lot of excitement and hype in the air right now after the release of ROTS, but in a few months when everything has settled down again, will there really be the demand for so many regional boards?

I hope there is, I honestly do, but I just can't see it. There just isn't the long term demand to have so many small chapters.

I'm just doing it to socialise, not because of ROTS.

 

Otto, we know that, sure englishguy and Nic know it. The problem is that it would need to keep active, and many other people may only come around because of ROTS. Trust us, lots of people came around during AOTC, but the numbers dwindled. In fact I will be amazed if any new chapters start considering now we have come to the last film so new blood will be low. I always felt that this forum would start to really die after ROTS, only left with the die hards.

 

That is one of my major concerns, how this forum will hold up post ROTS. I feel we should be strengthening our fan force by consolidating our main chapter, rather than splinter it into regional forums.

No one is trying to say that you have anything other than good intentions Otto, and indeed if the demand was there, then I would be the first to call for a new chapter. But we have to look to the future and the long term if we are going to continue and grow as a successful and vibrant chapter, and having new posters seconded to regional forums may not be in the best interest of the FF-UK as a whole.

Edit: STF: Don't put it too far out of reach, you never know when we might get attacked by Trekkies!!

It's a shame theres not many wanting to join or stay on,it would be great if we set a chapter up for the north west

 

I've always seen the chapters as mainly being there to organise local meet-ups. the fanforce is meant to involve meet-ups and this is often better handled on a local scale.

i don't think they will steal posters away from the main forum. having said that the london forum has activity from people who never post here, but that was a one off

i'm sceptical but supportive of the rise in interest in chapters, if it leads to even a few meets it can't be a bad thing

 

Be great to have a chapter for every part of the country, but it wouldn't happen.

I hope that people will stay on now, and we shall soon find out what will happen with that. But for now I agree totally with Welshguy, sense he speaks. The community will grow stronger if we are centralised in a forum, and in time then maybe we could really see about other chapters. I myself one day would like to see a return of the Northern board, which is a large area but will give a better chance for those who can't always make it to the London meets. But I myself do not think it is the right time to start that, it will only be something I suggest when I can see that it would have the strength to stay alive, unlike my previous attempt

 

Thats why I'm for a chapter so we can have meetup's

 

I to encourage more meet ups, that can only be a good thing.

 

Well it would be nice to meet other like minded fans,But can't say I'd be up for going down to London all the time

 

i would be all for a manchester/northwest fanforce.
