I know the out-of-universe (OOU) reasons for some of the worldbuilding (or should I say "galaxybuilding") of Star Wars leading to what might seem like plot holes (most of it just a lack of understanding of very basic astronomy/science or not thinking through social/economic/political effects). But let's use this thread to try to make those make sense in-universe (IU), and find what new story potential might come of it.

A common issue is on hyperspace in general, we still don't really understand how it works. What's the point of hyperspace routes? Why are the Unknown Regions unknown?
Especially when you can go in just a few hours
*from Coruscant to Mustafar and back
*from Crait to Canto Bight and back
*from Ajan Kloss to Pasaana to Kijimi back to Ajan Kloss again and Ahch-to to Exegol
(and then there's the hyperspace-skipping that Poe does on the Falcon)
Why couldn't Rey/Kylo just go around the little red nebula to reach Exogol?
If hyperspace is so fast, why haven't they explored other galaxies yet?

What answers could come from these questions, and what story potential?

Here's another, and I'll actually put some story potential ideas with this one:

In a map of the Milky Way galaxy that would fit on a normal computer screen, the pixel that contains the Sun also contains over a thousand other star systems.

Even with a very sparse and underpopulated galaxy, the current GFFA seems to have huge regions of space pretty much uninhabited and there for the taking. Like how the small planet of Naboo somehow decides who the Senator is for their entire sector, which even at its small size should contain tens of millions of other star systems within it.

And canon says the GFFA is actually bigger than the Milky Way (over 100k lightyears with 400 billion stars on Wookieepedia, and a quick Google search says the Milky Ways is somewhat over 100k lightyears with 100 billion stars). So their galaxy is even denser than ours.

So it must be that most of the galaxy is uninhabited. We already know that most of it is at least under-populated, with Coruscant having only 1 trillion people, while analysis shows that Earth as an ecumenopolis (city-planet) could host at least a quadrillion people until it reached a heat limit.

Though that then leads to the problem of why there are even economic disputes or trade concerns or poverty, with their hyperspace and droid technologies, and all those untapped systems and resources.

Story potential idea: the elite of the galaxy own huge swaths of untapped systems, such as just one minor noble owning hundreds of star systems they might use for resort/privacy (like private islands on Earth) but mostly for status. Eventually the common people band together to overthrow the princesses, counts, dukes in the galaxy for a chance to change the economic system and end poverty.

    What are some others?

And what are some creative story potential ideas for them?
