Games Find the password

Help me remember the password of my strongbox full of diamonds.

It's made of 4 letters, each letter can be between A and F (included). Like in any other password, repetition is allowed.

For example, it could be C D E C .

We proceed as follows: you try a combination, and in reply I'll tell you how many letters are correct and in the right place and how many are correct but in the wrong place.

The challenge is to guess the password with less than 15 attempts.

(note = every time a letter belongs to the password, I consider it, regardless of the other letters of the attempt
so if for example the combo is FFFC
and someone writes CAAC, then my response will be 1 1

(Hmm, not sure how I feel about that scoring system, but we're at brute force in my rough algorithm).

I can go for the other scoring system as well, in which I the wrong one are evaluated after the right ones. Maybe it's better. Yeah, after you guess this one, I'll change.

@Ramza is probably right, we'll follow his convention.

If the password is ABCD and you try AAAA from now on my answer will be 1 0 and not 1 3 .
