Vir.... The only one who was not only immune to Morden but went and decked him, then gets the last word a couple of years on to add insult to injury.

Er, not exactly what I meant. She voiced one (or more?) valiant daughters of Skyrim. But Ivanova would make a damn fine Valkyrie nonetheless.

I've been going through a rewatch of Babylon 5 and I'm finding it's still a very relevant show today. One of the things I've been thinking about are how the Minbari view conflict with humans. Minbari killed and defeated humans many times in the war, yet are massively offended at Sheridan for having defeated them once in the war. It's something they hate him for, at least at the very beginning of season 2. It didn't sit well with me because made no sense. War is war, right? And then it hit me that I live in a country where we react the exact same way to our own being killed in conflict (hugest deal ever, enemy is cowards for attempting to kill us for trying to kill them, etc) and of course, JMS is a smart man and he saw this behavior even back in the early 90s.

Also anyone catch "Earth First" as Homefront's slogan? Very prescient.

 

Have to admit, after the week death is having, I hesitated peeking in here, going like "Oh no, who in the cast has died now?"

 

Yeah, basically we were on the fence of what to watch next in our show queue (I get choice this time) and after November 2016 I basically said "Oh, okay -- this has to be next."

The entire S3 arc is... terrifying.

 

Going through this with the lady and it's her first time through the show. Once I remembered that this show has a lot of commentary that is very relevant to post-2016 America...yeah. We usually discuss the episodes after they finish (shut up, we're nerds) and the slow rise to authoritarianism is definitely something that's being noted even in season 1. Season 3 is gonna be something for sure.

 

I rewatched this series a few weeks ago and it only further reinforced that it's in my top 5 shows of all time. The Earth storyline is fantastic stuff and is incredibly well sown in the earlier seasons.
