I think they come from a 100 people that are surveyed...and aren't easy to google.

 

The hosts came up with about250 questions, and then canvassed their local Neighborhoods until they had 100 people surveyed for each one. So yes, it can’t be googled, and I would like to thank each host for their tireless efforts.

And yes, there will be very little Star Wars if any, the questions are quite random. I was actually on the UK version of the TV show, so I may have an advantage. I did quite well.

 

Point of clarification on game rules:

Answers should be individual and you should not be consulting your team on your answer. The only time you can consult your team is if your team is going for the steal. (As in, the other team got three strikes and you only need the one answer to win the points on the board.)
This info will be going in the first post rules as well.

There's no way we could do a Star Wars version, we just don't have the resources to do so. I'm not going to say where specifically the questions come from at this time, but they have been pulled from multiple sources. Yes, I'd say most, if not all of them are probably from the U.S. since it's originally an American game show (I'm pretty sure), but the hosts are doing their best to not use exceptionally American questions (colloquialisms, idioms, etc.) so as to not give the Americans an advantage.

<buzz in> Star Wars movies that came out after we were children that didn't benefit from us growing up around them which are being viewed more critically since we're older and more jaded as adults, allowing us to see new content as threatening our very childhood memories, instead of suspending disbelief more like we used to and just having fun with them.

As far as I'm concerned this place is the YJCC with some lightly sprinkled Star Wars on the side.

 

I'm hopping that in the medium to long term this game can heal some rifts, and show a nicer side to the JCC. Perhaps it could be seen as a more inclusive, welcoming board who's reputation no longer puts off people from WNU and film forums. Afterall, we are all part of the JC family, and it would be boring if we were all the same.

You do see that different people are hosting, right?? We all have our own style!

 

How will the bracket be handled in round 2 when there is an odd number of teams?

I don't particularly like the 'play to get into the game' method, which is essentially what that is. I know that's how things are usually done, but I don't think it's very fair when you don't have a previous means of choosing who has to play in, like sports usually do. (Does that make any sense? Probably not the way I explained it.)

The method we're finalizing is a lot more fun and fair, I think.

 

The six highest scoring losers from round one go into round two. So the four lowest scoring losers should feel terrible about themselves. That sounds like more fun

 

Fight to the death?
