Frak Cancer! 2007.10.07 Co-Ed Race : Success Acheived! THANK YOU ALL!!!

As some of you may be aware, this particular disease has hit close to one of our own recently, and in celebration of that life some of us decided to form another team for this walk. There is a "Family" walk every year, that includes all of the genders/ages (and is a little shorter than the others).

I'd like to open this up to ALL of the Star Wars groups, because frankly, this would be a fantastic event for everyone and will really showcase our committment to helping the community all the way around.

We've talked about doing a run of "Frak Cancer!" t-shirts, but it would be great to have a nice design for those as well.

In addition to the registration fees, everyone is encouraged to collect pledges to raise money. This can be done VERY easily at the website once the team is registered (or you can collect on your own and turn it in on the day of the race).

First thing is deciding this is something we all want to do, then if want to invite others to join our team. Finally, we need a team name so we can start getting everyone registered.

Also, they have started offering a Sleep-In for the Cure registration last year. In this case, you just register for that, and think about those of us walking in your dreams.

on a related note, I went to a fundraiser for the 3-day 60 mile breast cancer walk that's going on in various cities across the country (thinking of maybe doing it next year) but the fundraiser had so many aweosme ideas,

my favorites were the t-shirts that said things like

"save second base!"
"boobs are good" (with the pink ribbon instead of o's)
"TOUCH other's lives with your support of BREAST cancer research TODAY" (so from a distance all you read is what's in caps)
"I love breasts, breckenridge, co"

I was amused. but save second base was my favorite by far

 

This was definitely a topic of discussion at the meeting.

We are doing shirts and they will all be pink! guys too!

So if you are not manly enough to wear pink for this cause, then the girls get to beat you up!

I will post a version of the shirt once I get all the info I need for the back of the shirt.

 

Does it have to have a back? I mean something on the back?

Uhhh...no.
My manlihood is pretty strong, but tiaras is pushing it. If the men wear tiaras, all the women have to wear fishnets and high heels. It's only fair.

Remember, this is about the breasts.

well, no, I guess we don't have to but I thought it would be nice to have some mention of the actual walk since we are participating.

I'm just in design mode with that thought. I have done other Breast Walk shirts and there was always some honorable mention of that particular walk.


It's up to you girls and guys what you want to do, I'm just the Art Monkey.

Figure out something that's generic for SW fans, and mentions the Susan G. Komen etcx. walk with the date... I can't imagine that anyone wouldn't get it because of the back

 

I think it would be a good idea to have something on the back. It would be something for people to look at as we're walking and passing them up.

 

And something to identify the body with. Oh wait... I'm not going to actually *walk* this year! But I'll be set up on the side of the road cheering you on!

No... But the Star Wars Fans will, as soon as I can breathe again.
