Saga Game: Each Star Wars Film Summed Up By One Quote From That Film

Haven’t seen too many of these “for fun” threads on here in a while. Here we go.


TPM: “At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last we will have revenge.”


AOTC: “Anakin! Don’t let your personal feelings get in the way!”


ROTS: “Once more the Sith will rule the galaxy! And we shall have....peace.”


Solo: “Assume everyone will betray you, and you will never be disappointed.”


RO: “Save the Rebellion! Save the dream!”

ANH: “I want to learn the ways of the Force and become a Jedi like my father.”


TESB: “A Jedi's strength flows from the Force. But beware of the dark side.”

ROTJ - "You were right. You were right about me. Tell your sister... you were right."

TPM: "Why do I sense we've picked up another pathetic life form?"
AOTC: "If you are suffering as much as I am, tell me."

ESB: "That's two you owe me, Junior."

The Last Jedi had three that stand out:
"but weakness, folly, failure also. Yes: failure, most of all. The greatest teacher, failure is. Luke, we are what they grow beyond. That is the true burden of all masters." --Yoda

This represents so much of what occurs in the film. It doesn't just apply to Luke. Poe is learning that his attempts at heroics can have fatal consequences and he needs to be more deliberative in his analysis, plotting out the long-term consequences of his actions. Both Finn and Rose also learn from their failures.

"This is not going to go the way you think" --Luke Skywalker (which really just applies to Rian subverting expectations

"Let the past die, kill it if you have to" --Kylo Ren (moving beyond the past, trying forge a new future--both in the story and in the franchise)

 

TPM: Yippee!
AOTC: Oh, not good!
ROTS: Execute Order 66.
R1: Make 10 men feel like a hundred.
ANH: Use the Force, Luke! Let go!
ESB: Ben, why didn't you tell me?
ROTJ: Tell your sister you were right. You were right about me.
TFA: A good question. For another time.
TLJ: I've seen your daily routine. You're not that busy.

 

TPM - He knows nothing of greed
AOTC - The Dark Side clouds everything
ROTS - Well then you are lost!
ANH - He’s got to follow his own path
TESB - A Jedi must have the deepest commitment
ROTJ - I know there is good in you

Solo: "I don't have people. I'm alone."
R1: "I'll be there for you. Cassian said I had to."
ANH: "I'm Luke Skywalker, I'm here to rescue you!"
ESB: "No, I am your father."
ROTJ: "So be it... Jedi."
TFA: "Classified, really? Me too, big secret."
TLJ: "The rebellion is reborn today. The war is just beginning. And I will not be the last Jedi."
TROS: "And I am.. all the Jedi!"

TPM: "It is clear to me now that the Republic no longer functions."
AOTC: "The shroud of the darkside has fallen. Begun the clone war has."
ROTS: "The boy you trained, gone he is-consumed, by Darth Vader."
Solo: "I'm going to be a pilot-best in the galaxy."
Rogue One: "Save the Rebellion! Save the Dream!"
ANH: "I want to come with you to Alderaan. There's nothing for me here now-I want to learn the ways of the Force and become a Jedi like my father."
ESB: "If he could be turned, he would become a powerful ally....He will join us, or die master."
ROTJ: "You cannot escape your destiny. You must face Darth Vader again."
TFA: "If the droid reaches the resistance, Skywalker will be found, and the new Jedi will rise." (not sure I got that exactly right)
TLJ: "We are the spark that will light the fire that will burn the First Order down."
TROS: I don't remember all the specific dialogue...I'd put some line in there that Palpatine says about destroying everything...or...something the Resistance says about ending the FO once and for all....or whatever.

 

TPM: We will tell her for you. We're sure her heart goes with you.
AOTC: But I promise, I won't fail again
ROTS: This is a happy moment. The happiest moment of my life.
ANH: Traveling through hyperspace isn't like dusting crops, boy.
ESB: Why you stuck up, half witted, scruffy looking, nerf hearder!
ROTJ: Father please..help me!
TFA: The garbage will do.
TLJ: I know what you're going to say..I changed my hair.
TROS: I did want to hold your hand..Ben's hand.

 

TPM: " I will be Chancellor."
AOTC: "What if I told you that the Republic is now under the control of a dark lord of the Sith?"
ROTS "The boy you trained gone he is, consumed by Darth Vader."

I don't know Solo well enough to think of one from that movie.

RO: "Rebellions are built on hope."
ANH: "You must do what you feel is right."
TESB " No, I am your father."
ROTJ: "I am a Jedi like my father before me."

TFA: "This will begin to make things right."
TLJ: " No one's ever really gone."
TROS: "Never be afraid of who you are."

 

I: "I'm glad to have met you, Anakin."

II: "I truly, deeply, love you... and before we die I want you to know."

III: "I don't know you anymore! Anakin, you're breaking my heart! You're going down a path I can't follow."

IV: "I'm Luke Skywalker. I'm here to rescue you!"

V: "NOOOOO!"

VI: "I know there is good in you. The Emperor hasn't driven it from you fully."

 

I'm going to do my own take it, and do quotes that match the meaning of the title of the movie, but aren't necessarily a good description of the movie (especially the ones I did for the spinoffs).

TPM: "Hard to see, the dark side is."
AOTC: "Begun, the clone war has."
ROTS: "At last the Jedi are no more."
Solo: "Han...Solo."
R1: "This is...Rogue One."
ANH: "You must learn the ways of the force."
ESB: "General, prepare your troops for a surface attack."
ROTJ: "I am a Jedi, like my father before me."
TFA: "The force?"
TLJ: "I will not be the last Jedi."
TROS: "Rey Skywalker."

 

TPM: “Always remember. Your focus determines your reality.”
AOTC: “Jedi don’t have nightmares.”
ROTS: “I have failed you, Anakin. I have failed you.”

Solo: “I really was gonna learn to play that valachord.”
RO: “Rebellions are built on hope!”

ANH: “Run, Luke, run!”
ESB: “The son of Skywalker must not become a Jedi.”
ROTJ: “I won’t leave you.”

TFA: “Chewie, we’re home.”
TLJ: “It’s all a machine, partner. Live free, don’t join.”
TROS: “I can’t walk out on this war. Not till it’s over.”
