Amph Game of Thrones: House of the Dragon — Fire & Blood book spoilers must be TAGGED

From looking at the wiki of "A Knight of Seven Kingdoms", it sounds like the movie "A Knight's Tale". I'm guessing from the minimum I read that this is a spinoff story happening separately from the "main" action.

Also, I don't know if this is considered a spoiler, but it sounds like Fire and Blood's events don't lead directly up to A Game of Thrones and there are more stories in between, is that a true statement?

With that said, could we get an awesome Season 1 (and 2 and maybe 3) of this new HBO series about the Targaryens and then the showrunners run out of text/book references and "make up" what happens in between and we get a crappy season 4 & 5?

 

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a collection of short stories about "Dunk and Egg." Duncan the Tall is a knight and "Egg" is the child who would become Aegon V and Maester Aemon's younger brother. It takes place well after the Dance of the Dragons and c. 90 years before GoT. Of course, not all of the planned D&E stories have been released.

And Fire and Blood is supposed to be one of two volumes, yes. None of these really "lead up" to ASOIAF and they're not prequels in that sense. "Dunk and Egg" is its own thing and Fire and Blood is written as an in-universe history.

 

Yeah, my digital copy of Fire and Blood (woo sales) is even permanently labeled Part I, just so I will always know that Martin has failed me. Me personally. No one else though, just me.

 

I could get behind this casting.

Well here he will be major character for several seasons if the show is successful enough to go beyond S1.

 

Not the most exciting period in my opinion, but then again I’m getting the dance of dragons witch was my top choice.

I wasn't a fan of Mizuno's performance in Devs but I think that was more about how she was directed rather than her acting capabilities.

 

My sophisticated take is that I liked Rhys Ifans in Notting Hill.
