When there aren't enough Jedi left for the Jedi Order to be its own recognized body I suspect Obi-Wan, siding with the Rebellion, will take on the title of General.

And I'm guessing that will be near the beginning of Episode III.

Yep, that's what I think too.

    'They made you a general?'

'Yeah, I guess they heard about my little menevuer at Geonosis'

    Ahahhahaah good one.

I still think it *could* happen in Episode II, but my money is on Episode III.

As far as I can tell the Jedi are still fighting for the Republic (or at least not against it) in Episode II, so a Jedi to take a military rank when "Jedi Master" will do just as well seems silly, if not improper.

In Episode III, he'll presumably be fighting against the Republic-turned-Empire with a band of freedom fighters, most of whom are not Jedi, so his military rank will be both necessary and significant.

Plus, how much stuff do we really expect will happen in Episode II!!??

The problem, Darth Mouth, is that Leia says you served my father in the "Clone Wars....NOW he begs you in his struggle against the EMPIRE." Add this to the fact that in the trailer we see Organa urging Palpatine to take action against cloning, and you have an interesting possibility that Anakin serves Organa, not in the Rebellion, but in a different separatist movement that does not have its genesis in the struggle against Palpatine.

    My head hurts!

I don't know if it will be as complicated as all of that, but I suppose it's plausible. If Bail Organa is an "emerging character" in this film in the same way that Windu was in TPM, he won't be shown enough to form his own anti-cloning separatist movement. Maybe in the next one he will, but I still feel that rather than having an anti-cloning movement start up that eventually turns into a Rebellion against the Empire, it'll just be a Rebellion from Day One....in Episode III.

I just KNEW I shouldn't have downloaded this trailer!! I've been watching it too often and (I think) I am putting things together.

I believe that it was originally Palpatine's idea to do the clone army (probably a part of his master plan to forge his Empire) and the clones went awry, thus necesitating their destruction "before they are ready." In the scene where Obi-Wan is talking to Jango, it seems to me that the only way they would be talking like that is if Jango didn't know Kenobi was a Jedi Knight. (I have no idea how he wouldn't know that of course, seeing how Kenobi isn't so anonymous after Naboo, and the fact that he is in full Jedi garb, but that hypothesis is backed up by his holo-transmission to the Jedi Council about the bounty hunter and the creation of the clone army.)

Whew! I don't do long posts like this much, and always feel guilty when I do because they are such a pain to read! But anyway, that's my nice little theory. :) Now I just have to wait 58 more days to see what really happens...

    Very interesting.

So Palpy starts to create the clone army, and instigates the whole separatist movement as an excuse to unveil them? Interesting...

Well, I don't know much about the seperatists (thank God, at least there is something I am totally clueless about! And all I did was watch the trailers!) but it is entirely possible. :)

In fact that is a more likely possibility than the clones going awry, because it seems that cloning is still around in the OT era: "Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?" [face_mischief]

Bail's "before they are ready" line could be referring to the droid army as well.

Assuming that the clones ARE the Republic's makeshift army, he could just be saying that they need to be mobilized before the droid armies "are ready".

Shoot, I read a spoiler on one of the 12" figures that could factor into this discussion.

I guess I won't be able to contribute any more.

    Oh well, happy speculating!

But, Darth Mouth, what if Organa is referring to separatist clones? :))

I don't believe there ARE separatist clones.

    Clones vs. Droids

    Seems pretty straightforward.

Darth Mouth: That would be an okay theory except later on in the trailer we see those Warhawk lookalike fighters destroying what I assume are cloning chambers...

Yes, yes, to THX_Princess you listen....

I think that as the Clone Wars progress, the Jedi will end up being absorbed in the Republic army, with X number of Jedi for Y number of clones. Perhaps the Jedi are even put in command of the clones.

That would be the perfect setup for Palpatine to begin the Jedi Purge. As the tide turns in favor of the Republic and the Seperatists are nearly beaten, the clones will then turn on the Jedi, overwhelming then with their sheer numbers...

    //shrugs

    ...or maybe not.

Oh, you guys thought that huge thing that looks like an Arco from SimCity2000 that blew up just before the title flashed in the trailer was a cloning chamber?

That's kind of a jump, don't you think?

I don't see why a cloning chamber would, from the outside, look any different than a droid factory would.

Well...it could be a jump to call them droid factories too.

I mean Organa's statement in the trailer...along with scenes of Republic ships blowing up factories...is it REALLY a stretch to say that they are cloning chambers?

What makes you think they are "clone facilities" or anything for that matter? It could be some kinda "power reactor" or who knows what.
