DEAR DIARY CHALLENGE ? Generation X

Author?s note: The character of Elena comes from my story Conspiracy, also titled I Am Me on Fanfiction.net. This will be following Conspiracy.

Dear Diary?


Oh, Kriff. That?s such a lame start. I might cross that out later.

Well, let me start with the basics, because I haven?t had a diary since? well, since ever. This is one of the few precious moments that I have off. Usually every second of the day I?m slaving away (literally) for Prince Xizor and his evil sidekick, Guri. Some days I?m cleaning private speeders, other days I?m hauling around spare droid parts for the junkyard or incinerator? it all muddles together after a while. The Empire continues to rule the galaxy with an iron fist, Vader continues to hunt down Jedi, and I?m still a slave for probably the most cunning, evil alien in the history of the galaxy.

So, there?s my life.

A little more personal information: My name is Elena. I?m fourteen. Just turned. Great. Just another year, just another date to remind me that I?m not a free person and I?ll most likely remain a slave to that reptile for the rest of my life. And that?s the hardest part. I just know, somehow, that this isn?t the life I?m supposed to have. Maybe it is, but I just have this feeling. I don?t know. I can?t explain it.

Just like I can?t explain? my other? situation.

I guess I can write this down. I could always destroy the information if anyone tries to read this.

Well, there?s no easy way to say this? but I think? I think I?m a mutant. Yes, a mutant. A mutant like one from a comic book, an X-Men comic book. It?s insane! I don?t know how or why, but I recently discovered that I could copy comic book mutant?s powers. Take Storm from the X-Men for example. I can do what she does if I want to. I can make storms, manipulate metal, fire, ice ? you name it. Anything the X-Men or Fantastic Four or whatever ? any Marvel comic book character?s power I can copy.

Insane, right? I even have an adamantium skeleton. Don?t ask me how, because I don?t know. But that?s the worst part. If someone found out I?m a mutant, then they?ll run tests on me, and I?ll become some human experiment. I don?t want that.

I wish I knew my parents. I never knew who they were. Force, I don?t even know my last name. I was kidnapped when I was just a little kid. I don?t remember much before that. Sometimes, though, I do remember another little girl, who would be my age now. She had brown hair and brown eyes, and we played together. But I can?t remember her name or why we played together.

So, this is my life. I?m a slave/mutant-in-hiding. Kriff, that?s a strange combination.

Wait, I have to go. I think someone?s coming. I?ll have to encrypt this datapad with a security code.

But before I leave, there?s just something I want to know. Am I the only one? Are there others out there like me? Other mutants? I hope so. I don?t want to be alone.

Oh, wait. I already am.

Dear Diary,

I still haven't thought of a better header, so I'll be sticking with this for a while. Blast.

Well, I tried to escape, diary. I finally made a break for it. And I almost made it, but it was too late when I realized Xizor had installed a tracker in my body, and although I managed to get it out, they still caught me. Xizor punished me bad, but I'll heal. I just have to try to heal slower than normal, or he might catch onto something.

But that wasn't the only that happened. I may be going insane, or something really strange is happening to me. I heard voices. Yes, I heard voices in my head. Well, technically a voice, but it was really scary and dark. I don't know who it was, but whoever it was scared the kriff outta me. I remember the scenario clearly:

I was polishing a private cruiser. Nothing out of the ordinary. And I was brooding, which is something that I do sometimes to pity myself. I shouldn't, but it also gives me a chance to think about killing Xizor and Guri and everyone else here.

Stop the dark thoughts, Elena.

Anyway, I was thinking to myself about how I could try to escape again, when suddenly this dark, mean voice said: Who are you?

I had looked around, but no one was there. So, I had brushed it off as my imagination and continued to work. What is my problem? I thought.

Who ARE you? The voice roared.

Now I knew I wasn't dreaming or hallucinating. But where's it coming from? I wondered.

Your mind, young one. Now explain! How are you knowledgeable in the ways of the Force?

The Force? What in kriffing Hoth is the Force? I still can't figure out what he was growling on about.

Er... I'm not sure, I thought timidly.

There was a pause of silence, and then he said, or thought, What is your name?

Elena, I answered. Who are you?

You are not an apprentice, the voice said, sounding puzzled.

I laughed out loud. Uh, no, I don't think so. At least, last time I checked. I'm just a slave in a lizard's palace. Where do you live? The voice seemed to be growing less hostile.

Many places. I have no real home. I live in the stars.

Wow! Really? I've always wanted to go up there... what kind of ship do you live on?

A large one. How are you communicating in this fashion, young one? Who has trained you?

No one's trained me, I had told him. I'm just... uh... Suddenly, I remembered that talking telepathically was giving my powers away! I had to stop before he somehow found out where I was. I have to go! I quickly said and tried to block my mind. The other presence retreated slowly, but I had a feeling that he would be back.

But the question still remains: Who is he? And will he know what I am? Will he come for me?

I don't know. All I know is that something is going to happen soon. I can feel it. I just know.

I have to go. My prolonged punishment continues tomorrow with me cleaning out the rancor pit. Wish me luck, friend.

Oh, Shavit. I'm calling a blasted diary a friend. That's pretty lame. But sadly true. I really don't have any friends. But someday. Someday I'll get off here and find my childhood friend. I will. And when that happens, Xizor or Guri will never hurt me again.

 

Oooohhh how very creepy!

I hope Elena will continue to survive now that someone....or something is aware of her Force potential
