    IC Ayira

The group of five left Galbatorix, after he delivered a final warning to Jam and released his spell. It didn't take long for the large Orc to begin shouting again. Ayira wouldn't have totally minded if he was silent for the rest of the tests, but maybe that would've been too harsh... maybe. She rubbed at her temple as they moved on to their next destination, one who was much like Galbatorix. She couldn't say how she knew, but she could just feel somehow that he had a strong power. She eyed him as they fell into line standing behind him, awaiting instructions.

“So. You are the ones who made Galbatorix unleash himself for a second. You believe you possess power, intelligence, skill. But tell me, do you have the one thing that matters most. Do you have the will? He turned to face them, a large grin clear across his face. She felt a slight amount of uneasiness coming from him, but she would stand straight and hold her ground. No matter the obstacle.

I am Ganondorf. And this is the Test of Will. I don’t care for your mental acumen or your physical strength exactly, not right now. I want sheer willpower. Go ahead, move to that back wall for a moment. That is where you will begin.”

The blonde girl looked back at the wall he mentioned, and followed with the other four to it. She had only briefly glanced in this direction in the most recent trial, so she had a vague idea of what will be happening. She would need to put her all into this one. Jam was so self-confident (complete understatement, she thought), and Patriarch also held himself in such a way that told her both would be strong competitors in this trial.

Upon turning their backs to the wall, Ganondorf's smile grew wider. “When I say go, I want you to come here. Get to me. Walk. Run. Crawl. I don’t care how. Just get as close as you can to me and don’t give up. Keep going till you just can’t do so any more. Show me your will.” He lifted his hand up then, “Ready for this?”

Patriarch voiced his readiness and Ayira gave a stiff nod, tensing her body to be ready for anything, when Jam roared loudly... again. She only briefly allowed herself to roll her eyes at him before pulling her focus back on the task at hand. Ganondorf seemed to find Jam's outburst hilarious and before she knew it, both of his arms were up, open palms facing them, and magic swelled around him.

    “SHOW ME EVERYTHING!!!!!!! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! BEGIN!!!!!”

Wind blew across the distance at the five. Ayira's hair flew behind her as she gritted her teeth at the sudden wave of air. She held her arm up to shield her face from the brunt of it and easily stepped forward. It was only just the beginning, she knew the intensity would increase, and so she would push as hard against him as she could. She would never back down.

    David Xanatos IC:
    ~The Intelligence Test, Evaluation Chamber~

Xanatos watched quietly as his next group began as he ordered. Valynor seemed to be putting his all into it, putting the pieces together at a pretty good pace. The man watched him for a few moments before shifting his focus onto Amaya.

It was hard to tell how she was faring currently, though she was definitely putting some pieces together already. Nodding, more to himself than anything, he looked over at Jo’Sua next. He was working like the rest, but something almost seemed to suggest he was putting his all into it.

Did he look down at the puzzle? Simply too tired? Hard to imagine for a wraith being. Perhaps it was one he wasn’t very interested in. Yes, that seemed more plausible.

Nevertheless, they were all working dutifully and quietly, so Xanatos returned this and merely watched.

    ~The Will Test, Evaluation Chamber~

The gerudo kept up his endless wind barrage, eyeing Patriarch carefully as he nearly slipped early on, but then managed to regain himself. Excellent! He could feel the surge of both annoyance and it in turn bolstering the masked man’s willpower to overcome. A step after careful step showed the truth of it.

Ganondorf grinned before allowing himself to glance over at Ayira. She was the opposite at the moment. Her hair blowing behind her, showing the ferocity of his test, and yet she was almost easily powering through. A hand was up to shield her face, but otherwise while she moved slowly like the rest, she confidently placed a foot before the other.

“SPLENDID!!!!” roared Ganondorf approvingly, “THAT’S IT! COME TO ME!!!”

Jam himself, after his great proclamation was hanging in there, but otherwise nothing special. This almost dampened the gerudo’s excitement a tad, but in the end, he had faith the orc would power through and show him something amazing just like the others.

Soon enough, as the four minute mark was reached…Ganondorf powered up again. A hurricane force began to slam into them and that indomitable grin spread itself from one side of his face to the other.

    ~The Wisdom Test, Evaluation Chamber~

The former Dragon Rider and current King of Alagaesia briefly eyed Wapoe. The irritation was clear, though it was natural to dislike being replied to in the way he had been. But the man had been asking for it, Galbatorix merely supplied the only response possible.

Now he seemed to not really be trying all that hard. Very well. That was a personal decision and who knew, maybe he’d surprise him despite the lack of interest. Who knew.

Galbatorix let out a small exhale, the length of the whole testing process weighing on him slightly as well, but then again. Perhaps it was merely the banality of it all? Nevertheless, it was required and it served its purposes.

Steeling himself like he had been telling the other recruits to do, he continued to watch them. His eyes particularly focusing on both Arthur and Dusty.

Jack watched silently as Irryn proceeded through each of the weights doing the test as requested without any problems. Indeed, she did well and he nodded an acknowledgment toward her as she stepped away.

“Very good,” he replied simply before motioning to Goro. As the man did his test as well, Jack bade him to step back too when he was done. Not bad. They were making decent progress. This was good.

His eyes swiveled to look at the dark elf amidst the group. Charjra.

“Your turn, show us what you can do.”

    Charjra Myt'tar
    The Strength Test

As Charjra watched how gracefully Irryn through the weights, she had to admit that she was impressed. It also gave her a moment to calm herself as well, and recover from the earlier test. She still was not wanting to grunt through any more physical tests, even if she realized that if she did or didnt was also 'part of the test.' That didnt make it any better, however.

Goro then moved through the test. He seemed to be going ok. Charjra sighed. She knew already how this was going to go. Then Jack turned to look at her.

“Your turn, show us what you can do.”

Charjra narrowed her eyes, but said nothing. 'Ask me after things return to me.' she thought to herself, but then she turned, to look at the weights in front of her. She carefully walked thru each station. The two, five, ten, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty-pound weights, she had no trouble with and laid them down as instructed. The sixty-pound weight was a bit more of a struggle, and she sweated hard, her arms shaking as she barely got it over her head. At seventy pounds, she dropped the weight, not clearing it past her hips. Her arms burned, and her shoulders hurt. She did not care what anyone else thought of her. At eighty pounds the weight simply hit the ground. Charjra didnt care. She simply was not good at weights. She simply walked past the other weights, seventy, eighty, ninety, and one hundred, and moved to stand near the others, feeling the burn in her arms, and her back. She rubbed her hands, the skin hot to the touch.

She folded her arms, trying to ignore the pain. She was tired. She attempted to put her mind into more of a meditative state, as she waited for the bell to ring, the thing to buzz, or whatever the dang thing was so that they could move on.

    The Patriarch
    The Will Test

The Patriarch braced himself as Ganondorf, bellowed once again. He gave a sideways glance to the human named Ayira, her hand shielding her face. He had no such need to cover himself. The second gust of wind hurled itself toward the armored man, the force of it was impressive, almost knocking the Patriarch back. The wind was strong, but the Patriarch was stronger.

He locked eyes with the gerudo, his eyes forming into sheer determination. He closed them for a brief moment, breathing in, focusing on the self. He breathed out, focusing on the air. He resumed his slow deliberate walk. One foot in front of the other. This wasn't a test of power, strength or speed after all. It was a test of will.

As he strode forward he felt his armor press into him, the hurricane forcing it against him. Nevertheless he pressed on. He would reach Ganondorf, he had to.

    ~The Intelligence Test~

Amaya was frowning as she tried to make the puzzle. The stupid pieces did not fit together! That frustrated her immensely. The tip of her tongue was poking out as she was trying to think. She tilted her head slightly trying to see whether or not a picture was forming.

There seemed to be something there. She picked some of the pieces and looked at the parts of the picture. There were certain elements that should go together. Slowly and meticulously an image started to form.

Maybe that was the whole point of the exercise? To help her see that when her mind was calm...er then she can see the objective. Or maybe she was reading too much into it?

    That made her snicker silently.

The man was starting to wonder if it was time to break from the pack, so to speak.

There was more afoot than he cared to be apart of, and as much as his competitive edge was being nudged at, he hadn't seen much evidence to support well, any of their involvement.

Taken badly, perhaps they had all been kidnapped, and their minds erased. That would provide them with a near-infinite supply of recruits they could sift through and pick at. But what was the goal? Was there really an enemy as bad as they suggested? Or...

He squeezed against a thought, wanting to keep at least something silent in his mind. Thoughts, in his experience, were LOUD.

He regarded the other two; Arthur and Dusty. They seemed inclined to carry on, as and when they did interact.

Another tap of his chin, and he jotted down his answers, including the flagon.

    Why not.

For now... he needed to at least pass these tests. Not excel, no, but also not be dropped... as tempting as it was to see what that entailed.

But how did he alert the others as to this thoughts? Or, perhaps, had they already had their own?

Valynor and Amaya. Those two he had in his peripheral vision and from what he could tell they were moving. Good. They were all working on this problem that was in turn working them as they worked it. There had to be some analysis, some base test that this revealed. Although in a group setting? If they were truly special beyond merely elite soldiers and cannon fodder these proceedings should of been more intimate and drawn out, rest periods and nutrients mixed in with more things to improve performance. Only fodder and the cruelest tests that promised the harshest of careers focused on draining one to their limits, perhaps this was that? See how much they could take until exhaustion and nerves got the better of them.

Xanatos merely watched. With an omni-verse of worlds and ways, what was truly unreasonable?

With a snort as he realized he had become distracted by his own thoughts and simply had twirled a piece for a few moments he resumed his sorting and connecting of pieces face down on the table. The muted brown sheet he was slowly forming a comforting lack of pressure nor source of any additional stimulus. The sooner this was done the sooner he would be one test closer to a meal, and one event closer to a bed. Then - THEN! Oh! To sleep! To Dream! What wondrous worlds and histories yet awaited him there? What truths dark and splendidly all his own were hiding yet in the wings beyond his reach?

What mists of perceived weight and moral rhymes were awaiting to befall him?

    Strength

Irryn blinked twice at Jack of the Blades’ statement, the only sign she was surprised.
Jack had been correct in his assessment of her, she had been invigorated by the last test and she had a feeling she would enjoy this one too. She stepped up to the plate, and considered how best to do this.

The 10, 20 and 30 pound weights were lifted above her head with one hand, quickly, one after the other. So quickly in fact, that she ended up holding all of them in her hands at one point, and then looking slightly embarrassed when she realised she wasn’t quite following the correct procedure. Irryn was not trying to show off, but she couldn’t help but find this test easy- she had always been strong. It was just a function of being a member of her family, she could remember a story about her father singlehandedly diverting a lahar that had threatened to destroy a small village. Although whether she had ever had a father…

She placed the 60 pound weight down heavily, cross at the revelation that her family might have just been the figment of someone else’s imagination, although she could remember so little about them, other than the specific memories the tests they were taking seemed to unpick.

At seventy pounds, Irryn found she had to focus more on the task at hand, but it was still achievable. So was 80 and 90, though they were more difficult and she found herself getting a little hot at the exertion at this point. She eyed 100 thoughtfully, blue eyes wondering at it, and then passing over it to the smaller weights. She moved over to the 60 pound weight and lifted it with her dominant hand, before reaching for the 50 and lifting that too. Two in one, 110 pounds in her arms. She struggled slightly but cautiously lifted both one and then the other above her head. She lowered them down again with as much control as she was able, but almost dropped them the last couple of feet.

She stepped away from the weights, to indicate that she was finished, merely bothered that she had not found the task easier. She turned to face the weights again, curious to see how her drow companion and the fair skinned human would perform.

    THE JAM
    The Will Test
    The wind increased.

Ganondorf seemed pretty proud of it too.

But the Jam could not help himself.

    One chuckle.

    Two chuckle.

    Then full-blown laughter.

The pressure from the wind flapping his cheeks wider than the Jam considered before he began speaking.

"WH-HA-HA-HA-ATTTTT'SSS THISSSSSSS??? A S-S-S-SUMMMERRRR BREEZZZZZEEEEE!??!?! T-T-T-T-TTHEJJJJAAAMMMMMMMMM TTTHHHOUUUGGHHTTTTT SSSOMMMMEEEEONNEEEE LEEFFFFTTTTTT AAAAAA WWWINNNNDDDOOOWWWWW OPPPPEENNNN!"

The massive orc, that some would say was iconic and the main character of any story he found himself, played his fists on his hips and began to awkwardly strut forward. A massive grin on his face. If an observer was to say it looked like he was struggling, they would be wrong. The Jam merely was choosing to change his walk because HE FELT LIKE IT!

He took a few steps past Patriarch and looked back at the armored boy. He flexed his bicep and gave Patriarch a sign that the Jam was sure that people like Patriarch were used to getting. He was making the letter "L" with his index finger and rather attractive thumb. It was the inter-universal symbol...for Loser. He then gave the gesture to Ayira and turned back to Ganondorf.

This was what he was talking about. THIS WAS A TEST THAT MEN LIKE GANONDORF AND THE JAM WERE MADE FOR!

    IC as Ayira

The steady stream of air amped up suddenly, almost knocking the wind out of her. Ayira couldn't even move for a few moments as her body needed time to adjust to the higher intensity. It was such a struggle to stay standing, that at one point, she felt her armored boot slide just every so slightly. She gritted her teeth at the force against her and hunched over, leaning into the wind.

Per the usual here in this strange place, a booming laughter, now much harder to hear over the hurricane force winds, caught her attention and brought her back in the game. No, no, no, no! She refused to give in! Tucking her head in closer, she strained and fought to keep moving forward.

She still couldn’t remember her life, or dreams as it was, before coming here, but she knew in her heart, she was made for something great. With the very armor she was wearing, the sword that she was missing, and the way that she held herself without effort or conscious thought. There was a story in there somewhere and she would never stop fighting for that knowledge. She put this surge of determination into her will and legs, forcing another shaky step onward. She couldn’t make it to Ganondorf, of that much she knew, but she would get as far as she could.

They would remember the name Ayira before she was done, and with that thought, she powered through with another step.

    Ganondorf IC:
    ~The Will Test, Evaluation Chamber~

The ever present grin during trials like these was still on Ganondorf’s face as he kept up the windy assault on his charges. Ayira was starting to show some signs of trouble, yet her will kept her going. She kept fighting, that dogged determination having her persevere even now.

    Good! Very good!

Patriarch had also shown some signs of trouble, but then pushed on, trying to show he was not giving up. The armor helped him keep some of the problems of having wind in your face out of the way and yet was seemingly start to having some negative effects as well.

But it all served to show his willpower nonetheless. Excellent!

Jam was walking confidently, having been slowed by the winds (not that he’d admit to himself or others), but otherwise doing remarkably well. He even tried to talk and laugh amid the fast gusts, making light of the test.

    Ganondorf just laughed again.

“Then let me open the window wider for you all!!!!”

And then came the next increase in power. A larger jump in force than all the rest as the winds assailing them now were the equivalent of a Category 5 hurricane, likely somewhere in the 160-165 miles per hour range. The gerudo’s eyes flashed.

Most would drop here. Often fairly quickly. But that was ok. He was ecstatic to reach this level. They were meant to be elite, in his mind, so they better show it!

And within a couple minutes of that, if they somehow remained standing…he increased again. For those, if any, who remained….he figured a nice burst around 225 miles per hour should do it as a finale…

The winds would violently shake every bit of that corner of the chamber, much like it had with the last group. This was FEROCITY made manifest.

    ~The Intelligence Test, Evaluation Chamber~

The man watched those at the tables very closely, noting how both Amaya and Jo’Sua seemed to become distracted in their thoughts, catching themselves after a few moments of idle mental wandering.

This test, for those who were not of an affinity for it or who simply didn’t care much about doing well in it, always seemed to prove a point where they tried to figure out the meaning of the overall evaluations.

It was practically written on their faces. Or, well, hood in the wraith’s case. Both of them having shown other subtler signs of this line of thinking. Granted, Xanatos could not guarantee with 100% accuracy because of what they were. But he was rather certain.

Still they were not the only ones who tried. Some of them might get close, but mostly they were probably grasping at things not present, but imagined.

That was a trial in and of itself. Xanatos only smiled and called out quietly.

“Almost time, everyone. Just a bit more.”

    “Not bad.”

The man’s eyes slowly turned back toward Irryn thoughtfully, though he said nothing for the time being. If she noticed, he gave the slightest of nods again in acknowledgment before his eyes once more blazed in a different direction.

    At Grimble.

“Fine. While I confess to not expecting much from you, show me what you can. Perhaps you will surprise me.”

As the gnome mumbled worriedly to himself and seemed to stumble over his own little feet toward the weights, Jack couldn’t help himself from adding in a little:

    “But I doubt it.”

With that he motioned with an arm toward the ones who had already gone through the test and held out his hand to them.

“Take my hand. For your job well done, I have a mild reward for each of you.”

Upon doing so, they would feel a little charge in energy. Not a lot, but enough that they would feel a good amount of relief from their recent drain of stamina and a slight easing in their aches and pains.

Retracting his hand, he folded his arms and turned to watch the gnome.

“From here, things will be downhill. You have gotten through most of the evaluations now. Be strong.”

Arthur, Dusty, and Wapoe were all looking about themselves and thinking. Each of their lines of thought were very different, just judging from the way they held themselves and carried themselves in the evaluation.

Arthur was deligent. Dusty was worried. And Wapoe secretive.

Reminding himself of a little fact, he looked over at the member who stood out just as much as the robed one. The mechanical warrior.

    Intelligence Test

The chamber had fallen away from perception, as well as the others. All sound and all distractions seemed muted out. He’d barely heard the words which Xanatos had spoken.

There was only him and the puzzle, his mind, his eyes and his hands.

Valynor was completely focused on this task now. It was no longer a race against time, but a matter of self realization, of becoming what he perceived as his true self.

Nimbly his hands worked, almost with mechanical rhythm as pieces were joined one to another, while others were rejected and set into a pile that seemed to be diminishing instead of increasing. He was recognizing the shapes now, almost seeing the connecting contours just a moment before clicking the pieces into their respective places.

    Almost.

Had he possession of his Arcane learning, this puzzle would be child’s play - if not negligible altogether. But that was not the case, no. This was a stepping stone towards the recovery of that knowledge.

And so he continued, his green eyes moving and searching in tandem with his fingers, probing and joining while his mind recognized patters, faster and faster.

Still, it was not as fast as he remembered, this was not the feeling he knew he could achieve as a Master of the Arts Arcane. No, it was not…but it was certainly a step closer to getting him there.

And so, in a few moments, before he even realized it was happening, he would be done.

The puzzle and this present challenge, would be complete.

The Patriarch spared a glance over to the Jam, the audacity of this orange orc, he needed to be shown where his place was, there was a natural order to things after all. The Patriarch redoubled his efforts, not only taking meager careful steps forward but full on walking. He moved past Jam, he was in the front now, a little over halfway toward Ganondorf. That smile, it sickened the masked man.

“Then let me open the window wider for you all!!!!”

The Patriarch had been looking down, preventing the wind hurtling into his eyes but upon the gerudo's words he looked up. That was his first mistake. The wind hit him like a truck, his footing loosening as he brought his arms upward and into a 'X' across his body. He hunched over slightly making the total surface area for the wind to slam into much less. He slid back several feet, but he stayed firm. It was a miracle that he was not blown away in an instance. Slowly, he let down his arms, the eyeholes in his mask lit up sky blue as he grimaced and bellowed to Ganondorf.

"I am The Patriarch! I will not be stopped! I will not submit! I am LIFE! I AM DEATH!"

He would not submit, he could not submit. He was above all, master of the elements,. He yelled shortly after his declaration, a yell to encourage himself as he began to run toward Ganondorf. A rather pitiful run, more of a walk with the motion of running, but a run nonetheless. He looked over to Jam as if to show off to him. That was the second mistake.

The final wave of air came crashing into him, without any stable footing he quickly crashed into the ground, hard.

    Jupiter, K-012

    The Wisdom Test

Jupiter moved to face the Dragon King, intaking the information. Its center iris glowed with a soft orange, as its computerized brain gave a silent whir. The internal monologue of data being calculated.

    {Assessing Directive}
    {…}
    {Command Directive Accepted}
    {…}
    {Deactivating Sub Unit C-01 "Charlie"}

Jupiter then spoke aloud, acknowledging Galbatorix statement. Its voice was monotone, male, without a hint of inflection.

    [Directive Understood and Acknowledged]

The small drone that had been floating around the room zipped across back to Jupiter its flaps closing as it reconnected to the host. The mechanical warrior then clasped its tablet, beginning to survey the room.

    {Detection Module Activated}
    {Target = Yellow Flag}
    {Quantity = 6}
    {Known = 0}

While certainly K-012 had detection capabilities whoever had designed and built this robot had not made this the priority. After all that is what 'Charlie' was built for. The droid continued to survey the room, having not spotted any in the earlier aspects of the evaluations.

    {Estimated Time of Completion...}
    {…}
    {Twenty Minutes}
    {…}

Jupiter was aware that would take too long, if the robot was lucky it would find two flags at most. It turned back to Galbatorix, then round to the weapon rack by one of the agility tests then back at Galbatorix. By this point it was about the half way mark of the evaluation. The robot then flexed its mechanical fingers and inscribed a location.

    {Known = 1}

    IC as Ayira

Their struggle and determination to fight against his wind magic only seemed to amuse Ganondorf further. He only continued to grinned, almost in an insane way, and laughed and laughed at their situation. He thought their fight was entertaining and that only served to make Ayira raging mad. She glared over her arm at his response to the small group. At this point, two of the five had fallen back. It was just Patriarch, Jam, and her now.

Grimacing over the sheer will and strength it took to just stay standing, Ayira began slowly lifting a leg to move forward, any faster and the shrill wind would knock her completely over. She had to be careful, but her recklessness to her anger could also be her undoing, not that she cared to know that bit. Especially when she saw Jam making his way passed her. She was working hard for this, giving every bit of herself to not be blown over and he made it seem so easy! Patriarch also was showing visible signs of struggle, but like Jam, was also making, slow, progress forward.

Come on, Ayira... Push forward! Don't let them beat you!

She strained as she managed to step her foot down in front of her, and as she began to move her other foot, an unsettling laugh echoed over the noise of the wind. The strength of his magic went way above what she thought was even capable and the invisible force slammed her clear off her feet and into the wall behind, where the other two had already given in. Hitting the chamber wall with a thud, her armor clanging loudly against it, the hurricane force wind had her to pinned to the ground and the wall as she curled herself low and keeping her face covered against it. She would be feeling that one later...

    THE JAM
    The Will Test

First it was the pathetic "Patriarch". The armored man thought himself on the Jam's and Ganondorf's status. He was mistaken. And his body weak. If the Jam was honest, he was impressed the Patriarch had lasted as long as he had. But Jam was not honest, so he was not impressed by the Patriarch.

Second was Ayira. She may be more than just a human in nice armor. But she was no Jam. That was why she failed. As much as they wanted to talk down on the Jam, it was the JAM MASTER JAM that remained.

    Alone.

The winds increased even beyond the latest surge. It was battering and smashing against the walls and the rest of the defeated. Jam's impressive physique shook violently with every step as he continued to press on before...

Suddenly he stopped. The wind whipped across his luxurious and chiseled chest. His concrete abs and his quads that would make even the gods jealous. He did not take another step. He understood what this was now. This was not a test to see if they could reach him...No...this was a pose off.

AND A POSE OFF GANONDORF WOULD GET!

Struggling with every movement, the Jam begin to go through a posing routine that would soothe a baby and bring tears to the eyes of the hardest warrior.

He began by curling one bicep and flexing the other arm out into the distance.

"IITTTTTTT ISSSS IIIIIIIII...... LOOOOOOOKKKKK UPPOOONNNNNNN MYYYYYYYYY MMMMUUSSSCCLLLELLESSSSS ANDDDDDDDDD WEEEEPPPPPPP!!!"

    That was it. Yea...

Give them another one Jam. He could hear even the Wind begin to chant his name:

    JAM JAM JAM JAM JAM

Oh yea...They want to see more, Jam. Give it to them.

    GIVE THEM THE JAM!

The wind was supposed to make it tough. Ganondorf himself wanted to see why the Genesis Gate had brought the sexiest and most iconic orc in all of the universes to save them. The Jam had to do it. He had to unleash the fury!

He turned a quarter rotation to his side and flexed both biceps! His muscles screamed into submission as he forced them to comply.

    "IIIISSSSSSS TTTHHHIIISSSSSSSS WWHHHHAAAATTTTTT YYYOUUUUUUU WAAAANNNNTTTTTTT??????"

He held the pose. Not realizing that he was sliding back the entire time he had spent posing.

The cold metal against the back wall came as a shock and a slam to the Jam. But he let out a hearty laugh as the wind continued to batter him.

He had won. He had proven that his poses were superior. Just as he had solved the last puzzle faster than anyone else.

What were these tests? He grew bored of proving his superiority time and time again.

BRING ON THE FEAST AND WOMEN!

Xanatos only smiled and called out quietly. “Almost time, everyone. Just a bit more.”

Jo'Sua kept his head down at this, a small ripple of his form as he let out a heavy sigh as if the air had to force it's way up and straighten a few bends along the way to escaping. Silently. Squigle brown match to squigle brown. . .not quite, try again. Mind numbing and possibly soothing in a way.

Hearing that the time was almost over sent her into a panic. She was almost halfway there, but now that there was so little time left she doubted that she will be able to finish the test. Doubt, that struck her hard… Doubt was her main weakness. Doubt that she can perform when needed, when others need her to.

    Doubt, crippling doubt…

    Charjra Myt'tar
    The Strength Test

Whatever Charjra thought was going to come of the others’ opinions, Jack of Blades merely nodded at her performance with a curt:

    “Not bad.”

The man’s eyes slowly turned back toward Irryn thoughtfully, though he said nothing for the time being. As Charjra stood with eyes half-closed, meditating. She heard Jack disparage the small gnome. He seemed to be almost angry with the small gnome, who had no control of being here, just like everyone else. As she rubbed her arm, the tester then motioned with an arm toward the ones who had already gone through the test and held out his hand to them.

“Take my hand. For your job well done, I have a mild reward for each of you.”

Charjra did so and was surprised to feel a little charge in energy. Not a lot, but enough that they would feel a good amount of relief from their recent drain of stamina and a slight easing in their aches and pains. Retracting his hand, he folded his arms and turned to watch the gnome.

“From here, things will be downhill. You have gotten through most of the evaluations now. Be strong.”

With a nod, Charjra went back into her half meditations. She felt much better now, her arms didn't hurt as they had been earlier. And it had improved her mood a bit. Not much, but better. But at least now, she had a better chance of staying a bit calmer. She just hoped there were no other tests of strength or anything else physical.

What a strange world is this, that healing pours forth freely from so many. She thought to herself.

However, their newest invigilator did not endear himself to her by disparaging the tiny dwarf. Irryn felt like she should step in and say something but the moment passed and the right words did not present themselves. Prehaps it would be better to keep her head down for now.

She glanced over at where 'The Jam' battled Ganandorf and wondered where he'd get to with the weights.

Turning back to his group he nodded to a tall figure with peculiar armor. There were a lot of beings milling around and taking tests. Again he was still confused and just keeping his head down and taking everything as it came. Looking to the next to test he took a breath preparing for the challenge that awaited him.

    Ganondorf IC Part 1:
    ~The Will Station~

In the end, both Patriarch and Ayira collapsed and were swept away at nearly the exact same moment. The sound of their armor hitting the floor and back wall was music to Ganondorf’s ears. Granted, he couldn’t really hear it over the sound of the wind he was unleashing, but well, he could imagine it well.

    Glorious!

And then there was Jam at the end. He had won this round amongst his peers. The others may claim this wasn’t a competition, but Ganondorf disagreed. Heavily. Life was a competition. Whether it was against or for oneself or others, it did not matter. It did not matter in what way. Subtle or overt.

    It just was.

Power. And the Will to withstand and wield it was all that ever mattered. That was why they combined the two greatest words he knew into one.

    Willpower.

While his laughter slowly subsided to just some chuckles, a little confused by the posing given by the orc, he was nevertheless impressed. The demonstration only allowed the man to be pushed to the back like the others, but he had never actually been blown off his feet. It said enough.

And a fourth person had even done well! The woman by the name of Wuwu Gow Go.

The wind finally died down to nothing and the gerudo clapped approvingly.

“Good! A strong group this is, I am pleased to see it! Perhaps you shall all truly become elites after all. I look forward to seeing your progress!”

And there was the sound of that ring. With a flick of his finger it was silenced and he nodded to them all.

“That brings us to the end of this bit of fun. A step closer to the end! Now gather yourselves and meet my compatriot over there, by the weights.”

A physical test right after the one of will was always brutal, it left him sniggering as he turned to welcome the next group.

Jack of Blades IC Part 1:
    ~The Strength Station~

After watching Grimble manage to struggle, yet succeed, with the ten pound weight as his highest point (failing miserably with the twenty); Jack of Blades merely turned to them all and nodded.

“It would appear we are finished. Take this time to rest up further and be prepared for your next test.”

And so they did for just a few more minutes before that blasted ringing sound reverberated throughout the chamber again. Jack quieted it swiftly and then motioned toward where the target had been set up in the back of the Evaluation Chamber. The lone woman overseer was waiting.

“It is time to move on, as you know by now. Good luck to you. I look forward to seeing your progress.”

With that he turned on his heel to watch the next group stagger on over to him, his eyes aglow.

    Galbatorix IC Part 1:
    ~The Wisdom Station~

As time ticked on, Galbatorix remained quiet and just let his test-takers continue their work undisturbed. It was rather blissful after the minor altercation from the last group. In short order though, he spoke right before the sound of his device ringing made itself known.

“Time is up. Turn in your tablets.”

He watched some of them set it back down on the table and accepted the ones directly handed to him.

The monarch’s eye went to look at Jupiter silently a moment, his opinion masked behind an impenetrable face however, then to Arthur. A hint of approval was seen therein that time.

Recording the results and then setting all the tablets back on the table, he nodded to Wapoe and Dusty.

“You no longer need to suffer under my eye, go on and be prepared for your next test. There are not many left. But the next for you will be rather strenuous. Consider yourselves warned.”

Nodding to where the takers of the Will test were leaving from the corner of the chamber, Galbatorix then set his eyes to the ones incoming. Soon. They would be done soon.

But first. A few more individuals to assess. More potential gems to unearth.

    David Xanatos IC:
    ~The Intelligence Station~

It took just a minute or so more from the last time he spoke, but at long last came the sound the group had all been waiting for. Or dreading perhaps in the case of the rare individual.

Xanatos clapped three times emphatically to get their attentions, with a simple smile on his face.

“Guess what? Time’s up. Finally, I know! Congratulations everyone, put down the pieces and just let me inspect what you’ve done.”

He moved amongst the tables and nodded his head to everything he saw, recording the results into his little device that all the overseers possessed.

“Nicely done,” he murmured quietly to Valynor when he left his table.

“Heart not in it, I see. I understand,” he stated plainly to Jo’Sua as he went to his and catalogued the wraith’s result.

After leaving Amaya’s own table, he just smiled and said: “Not bad, Miss Amaya.”

And then there was the fourth person whom he also felt like was standing out particularly well amongst the recruits as well. He said nothing this time, deciding to play cryptic for just a moment, but nodded his approval of the person’s end result.

Just as he was finishing that, came the ringing sound. Rotation time! He pointed toward the man in the gold crown and black cape waiting for them by the pillar not far from where they had been standing when they first entered the Evaluation Chamber.

“Alright, time to move on everyone! Hope to see you all again soon, in a less ‘stuffy’ atmosphere. Good luck to you in your next test. Try not to rouse your next evaluator’s ire, his patience isn’t the greatest and it looks like he has been tested a bit already himself.”

With a chuckle, he waved farewell to them and looked to the next group incoming, that trademark charismatic smile on his face already.

    The Dexterity Test

Like the others before them, they could tell something immediately about the woman about to test them as they approached. She was just like the men, as expected, and was not one to cross. She didn’t exude power like some of them had done. There was a good possibility she didn’t possess any magic to begin with.

But her eyes and demeanor said it all.

In one hand, she was dangling the end of a leather holster. It was something Goro recognized immediately. The smirk starting to form on his face said it all. He knew what was up and it was right up his alley.

The others? Grimble, Charjra, & Irryn would likely have no clue. Though that was known for sure only to them currently.

“Alright,” she started before they had even fully made it to her or could say anything, “Let’s just get right into this ****. You’re tired, I’m tired, I don’t want to have to kill anybody.”

She cracked her neck as she spoke, her actions speaking for themselves. Revy wasn’t kidding. She was just as irritated as some of them were with how long this was all taking. Damn Baron. It was his damn fault!

He told her it would be over before ‘she knew it,’ when the two of them had talked about her possibly overseeing the elite’s evaluations. *******.

    She wanted this done fast.

“Ok, before I get too far ahead of myself, as some don’t like me not introducing myself,” she stated this sarcastically while throwing a look in the direction of where Xanatos was talking to some others, “The name’s Revy. What I have here in this holster is called a gun, for those who don’t know. Looks like most of you. Though you, eyepatch, I can tell you know.”

A smirk. “You’re just itchin’ to fire this baby off, aren’t ya. I can tell. Anyway, got to give a little lesson so the newbies don’t kill themselves first.”

She launched into a quick rundown of how to properly hold the weapon, the mechanisms at play, and even showed how to a proper quick draw. With that finished, she began pointing down at a red line painted onto the floor that was about seven meters away from the target set up for them.

“This is how it works. You’ll each come up here one at a time with the holster put on and take three shots for practice from behind this line. Once you have that out of the way, it’s time for the real thing. Three quick draw shots and we see how good you might really be at this.”

Revy pointed at the target. “Outer Ring is worth 1 point. Second Ring is worth 2. Mid Ring 3. Inner Ring 4. Bullseye gets you 5 points. We’ve had a few bullseyes, but not as many as I’d like to see honestly. How ‘bout you lot?”

Revy then tossed the holster to the most eager of the group. Goro Oni.

“You first, Eyepatch. Show me what you got.”

When he was done (and he got some bullseyes, much to Revy’s surprise), she directed him to hand the gun over to Grimble.

With his terrible performance over with (Revy’s expression was uncharacteristically unreadable), she told the gnome to very quickly just get the gun out of his hands and to Charjra.

When the dark elf was done, Revy would direct her to hand it to Irryn.

Time to see what they got!

    The Wisdom Test

While they approached the man and the small table not far behind him, set up against the large pillar; Amaya and Another Person would take in the kingly figure waiting for them. His aura could be felt just by the way he looked and held himself.

This man had power. He was power. The man was likely a truly royal personage overseeing them! His face, as with all those who came before, was unreadable. An impassive mask that none could penetrate. His thoughts, as always, were his own.

But those who were magically inclined, such as Jo’Sua and Valynor…They could feel his aura wash over them. Dwarf them. They would remember that moment of magical glory a while previous and remember that he had been the very source of the sensation. No doubt that was on their minds as they approached.

There was no doubt about it. If he wanted to, he could kill them all without even trying. A swift realization that everyone else who came before them learned just by being in his presence.

“Welcome to my test. My name is Galbatorix. I shall be testing your ability to perceive and observe all around you. These are important traits to have and it tells of even deeper things.”

He motioned toward the table behind him, moving a little out of the way for them.

“Come to this table and take a tablet, you will be able to write on them with your finger. There are six yellow flags placed around this chamber. I charge you with finding and recording as many as you can. Perception is everything. If you can sense something, you can deal with it. If you cannot, you are open to an attack you cannot see coming. Show me what you can see.

Clasping his hands behind his back, he nodded for them to begin approaching the table.

“You will receive a small moment to get your tablet and then close your eyes, calming yourselves. When I say to begin, you will open your eyes and search for the flags. You will have seven minutes, no more.”

Galbatorix was as good as his word, allowing them to get the tablet and inspect it, then close their eyes and prepare themselves. After a moment, he told them to…

    “Begin.”

    The Strength Test

While they moved away from the Will Test in differing levels of fatigue, possibly even staggering a bit, they would notice the weights at their next station. Just as Ganondorf had told them. What they were about to be required to do was as obvious as night and day.

And right after that windblown stress test?

Their eyes found the one now overseeing this station and any thoughts of complaint were likely gone instantly. This one’s aura matched both Ganondorf and Galbatorix!

    Cross me and know death.

    His aura said it all.

His eyes glowed brightly as the man assessed them silently for a few moments, his arms folded. When he finally spoke, it was like a charismatic demon had come to them from the deepest dark. Yet something about him wanted to draw them in. Above all though, his countenance possessed strength.

“As you can see, I barely even need to tell you what this test is. The Ways of Strength are to be seen here, so delve into your reserves of stamina and prepare yourselves.”

He uncrossed his arms and marched straight up to Ayira first. His eyes practically burning behind his mask.

“I am Jack of Blades. Show me what you can do. Does your strength match your will?”

He shook her hand and then the man in red moved over to Jam and held out his hand to him too. “I wish to see how strong you all really are.”

Jack of Blades would match whatever amount of strength the orc put into the shake, showing no signs of discomfort. Their mutual gaze would likely spark some respect.

Moving from there, he came upon Patriarch.

“Another person who has fine fashion sense, I can see. A purveyor of masks is welcome here. They serve so many purposes, don’t they.” It wasn’t a question.

Shaking the armored man’s hand, he then moved toward the woman in orange and black and offered his hand yet again.

“I look forward to seeing how worthy you all are. Strength is fundamental and I want to see your depths there.”

Moving back to a place off to the side, Jack of Blades nodded to the weights, preventing anyone from getting started early.

“Let me just state the obvious for formality’s sake, then we can begin. These twelve weights are laid out in ascending order from lightest to heaviest, go at them one at a time, and lift them above your head for five seconds. After that, lay them back down in a nice, controlled manner. The weights go in this order…”

Jack pointed at them each as he said them, “The pathetic two pound weight, then five, ten, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty, sixty, seventy, eighty, ninety, and finally the hundred pound weight.”

He folded his arms again. “Simple enough, yes? Good. You will undergo this test, one at a time in the order of my choosing. I will start with you.

Jack of Blades had chosen Patriarch.

When he was done, he pointed at Ayira. “Your turn.”

After her test, he finally nodded to the orc. “The Mighty Jam. Let us finally see the strength you boast of.”

When ‘the show’ was concluded at long last, his finger pointed toward Wuwu Gow Go. “And now for you. Can you match that?”

Did they have the strength to prevail?

    The Will Test

Finally moving away from Galbatorix and his tablet station, they saw the gerudo with the red cape waiting for them already. His powerful aura sweeping over them much like the monarch before him, but in a far more dangerous sense. It felt like it was fangs openly baring at them!

His grin was present, if a little smaller than the other groups had faced. Even he was growing weary of these tests…but it still gave him a chance to exude some power. And that was always welcome!

“I hope you are all ready. No more naps at tables and looking about idly! Here I test for the one thing behind everything else you possess. Not strength or intellect or skill or even magical power.”

He pointed at them. “I, Ganondorf, want to see how much will you have!”

Unlike with other tests, there was nothing set out for them. There was just him. Just Ganondorf. If they had any questions still regarding what was to come, it wouldn’t take long to find out.

“Go to the back wall for a moment. You shall begin there,” once they had, Ganondorf continued, “When I say go, I want you to come here. Get to me. Walk. Run. Crawl. I really don’t care how. Just get as close to me as you can and don’t give up. Keep going till you can’t any more. I want to see your willpower!

Cracking his knuckles in an attempt to unnerve some of them, his smirk adopted that ominous level the others before them had grown more accustomed to. This man wasn’t going to take it easy on them.

    They could already tell.

“Here we go. Come at me!

Ganondorf allowed them to advance toward however they wished for a few seconds then held out his hands like he had with the others. And the wind would hit them savagely at a nice 50 miles per hour speed. It was no hurricane, but it was strong without a doubt. It wasn’t just strength, the problem was also the fact that he kept this up for about two minutes as he would at every ‘stage.’

At that point, for those remaining standing, he upgraded the winds to 75 miles per hour. He wanted them to fall. Ganondorf wanted them all to submit.

If any remained standing after two minutes of that very strong wind current, he enhanced his attack to 100 miles per hour now. Those at this point were fighting an unending hurricane level gust!

His grin would widen further at any who still defied his power now and would increase to 150 miles per hour! They were into Category 5 hurricane level now.

Laughter would erupt from him once more if any still resisted. And with an evil gleam in his eyes, the return of the last enhancement of his power would meet the challenge. A wind at 225 miles per hour would smash into them!

He would keep this up as long as necessary until none were left standing. Ganondorf would also not increase any further if none made it to the higher levels as it would not achieve anything.

How powerful was this group’s will compared to the others, he wondered?

    Will Test

Behind his hood, an eyebrow raised as they shifted from a malevolent host to a physically imposing one. Ganondorf was not one to be trifled with, clearly... and he railed at them, causing Wapoe to blink as he stepped back to the wall, almost in an involuntary fashion.

    WIllpower?

He grit his teeth. He could do with some certainty before he could show some willpower, surely?

He had so many questions, and Wapoe shoved them aside to focus. He needed to progress, to be able to become. Placing a boot against the wall, he prepared to launch forward, rolling his shoulders from the sedentary desk trials beforehand.

What precisely is he planning, Wapoe thought as Ganondorf flexed his fingers and cracked his knuckles. Ominous.

“Here we go. Come at me!

Wapoe pushed off the wall with his foot and ran smack into the wind!

His arms lifted up swiftly to grab at his hood, to hold it down, but for the briefest moment a human male face was evident, before he concealed his identity anew -

    Damn this man.

The cloak was tugging at him entirely, and Wapoe wrestled forward, a step, two, lowering himself to minimize his profile. He was getting battered down, and down, a hand clenched to his hood, and soon enough, seconds or minutes in, he was on the floor, a three-legged crawl, dragging himself forward.

Pouring his frustration into a physical action, it was helping. Clearing his mind, but with his eyes squeezed shut he could only wonder if the trials were merely metaphor for everything else...

    What could he not see?
