Should Studio Ghibli stick to hand drawn animation or create more CGI films?

 

Ghibli's hand drawn stuff is truly artistic. Have they made any CGI stuff? If they can maintain their same level of artistry, I'd be good with that.

What's your favorite Ghibli film?

 

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (technically it came out before the Studio was formed, but it is obviously now distributed as a Studio Ghibli movie). Incidentally, I'm an admin of the Hayao Miyazaki Fan Club on FB, so any fans of the studio are welcome to join! We have over 48K members! And to answer your question @Sarge they had just released, "Earwig and the Witch", which is CGI.

And speaking of Joe Hisaishi, I saw him conducting an orchestra performing Ghibli pieces at Carnegie Hall a few years ago. Paid a pretty penny for it too but it was well worth it! Here's a demonstration of what an orchestra performance was like (albeit not as grand as this one that was in Budakan). Be sure to watch it until the very end!

Apparently yes, I just discovered. They have tour dates in California in June. I saw them at the State Fair back in the mid 80's, my first real concert of memory.


Have you met your doppelganger IRL?

 

I was working at a summer camp in 1980 and the kids called me Commander Skywalker, so I guess they thought I looked like Mark Hammil. A few years ago when I had a beard people said I looked like Billy Joel; but I'm pretty sure I was never a rock star married to Christie Brinkley. I'd remember that.

What celebrity would you like to meet?

 

No, I haven't. They're usually too expensive for me to attend.

No, I did not.

Do you prefer the Inquisitors or Darth Maul in Rebels?

 

Inquisitors, because Maul died in TPM. I can't accept him coming back after the way Obi-wan killed him on Naboo. That was final.

Did you mind the helicopter lightsaber things in Rebels?

 

My Jaina Solo Bishoujo statue. I bought her at retail value about a decade ago, and now she's very rare.
