looks good enough for a James Bond movie, which is all that really matters.

I’m thinking Mission Impossible. “THIS SCENE WAS ACTUALLY FILMED IN AN ACTUAL FLYING CAR. PLEASE LIKE TOM CRUISE NOW.”

I just don't see it as a flying car. It's just a funky airplane.

If someone would feed this one with photos of the past it would be quite an experience to walk through e.g. historic London, Paris, Rome or Vienna

So I saw this post from a friend on Facebook, and honestly, I never knew this.

It's a warning about how to put out wax candles: DON'T USE WATER. The wax ignites the fire when water touches it.

As someone who likes to burn candles, I never knew this. So this will be a good tip.

Great video (and great channel overall, you’d think this is PBS or National Geographic)

A new clinical trial for a cancer killing virus

    • A recent clinical trial has started evaluating the safety and tolerability of a novel therapy involving a virus that can infect and kill human cancer cells.
    • The novel therapy called Vaxinia can reduce the size of a broad range of cancers in animal and laboratory models at low doses.
    • This new therapy has considerable promise due to its selective targeting of cancer cells and its ability to target a broad array of advanced-stage cancers.
JCC trivia: the first "go science" thread was about a cancer treatment.

    Remission in every patient

It was a small trial, just 18 rectal cancer patients, every one of whom took the same drug.

But the results were astonishing. The cancer vanished in every single patient, undetectable by physical exam, endoscopy, PET scans or M.R.I. scans.

Dr. Luis A. Diaz Jr. of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, an author of a paper published Sunday in the New England Journal of Medicine describing the results, which were sponsored by the drug company GlaxoSmithKline, said he knew of no other study in which a treatment completely obliterated a cancer in every patient.

“I believe this is the first time this has happened in the history of cancer,” Dr. Diaz said.

I feel like a lot of his videos had been duds lately (speaking of my own personal preference), but this (while long) is among his best.

A "transformational" therapy has effectively cured people with the bleeding disorder haemophilia B, say British doctors.

The treatment corrects a genetic defect that leaves people's blood struggling to clot and stop bleeding.

    Vaders LaMonte.

He was an interesting guy. An atheist and he used to be very enthusiastic about science even though his coverage was usually pretty shallow/superficial. He used to end each of those posts with the phrase "GOOOOOOOOOOOO Science!" Eventually I think there was a period people thought he was too flirty, and he didn't take the criticism too well. Relationships sort of deteriorated and I haven't seen him in some years, though the thread title reminded me of him.
