Which sports have produced the most GOATs in a country?

    Basketball[IMG]:
    DR Congo - Dikembe Mutumbo
    Sudan - Manute Bol
China - Maybe Yao Ming but they have had much success in Olympic sports and table tennis[IMG].

    Baseball:
Dominican Republic - Albert Pujols (maybe Sammy Sosa but then steroids stuff)
    Venezuela - Miguel Cabrera
Cuba - very well could be Yasiell Puig in about 15 years
Japan - Sadaharu Oh (868 homeruns[IMG], most of any player all time in all leagues)

    Boxing:
    Philippines - Manny Pacquiao[IMG]

    Ice Hockey:
    Canada - Wayne Gretzky[IMG]
    Finland - Temmu Selanne

    Tennis:
    Switzerland - Roger Federer
    Serbia - Novak Djokovic
    Cyprus - Marcos Baghdatis
    Chile - Marcelo Rios
    Ecuador - Andres Gomez
    Sweden - Bjorn Borg
    Czech Republic - Martina Navratilova
    Thailand - Paradorn Srichaphan

    Gymnastics:
    Romania - Nadia Comaneci

    Cricket:
    India - Sachin Tendulkar
    Pakistan
    Bangladesh

    Football(Soccer):
Tons and tons of countries. Basically every African country for sure.
    Brazil - Pele
    Argentina - Maradona
    France - Zinedine Zidane?
too many to list, people with more historical soccer knowledge finish this list as I'm sure it would be the biggest on here.

    Badminton:
    Malaysia
    Indonesia?

    Track:
    Jamaica - Usain Bolt
    Ethiopia
    Kenya

I am not familiar with things like motor sports and some of the smaller sports. List out some you think and debate any of mine if you wish.

Keep in mind the popularity of the sport as well. Is being dominant in a very small niche sport as good as being very good in a worldwide popular sport.

Also I don't want this thread to turn into a debate about American athletes because we will not reach a conclusion there.

what I meant was best sportman in all sports in one country. So only one per country and then look at which sports have the most. Some of these are highly debatable because it's hard to compare sports.

Bow down to the GOAT of all GOATS - Joey Chestnut - Hot Dog eating

Even Covid-19 can’t stop the sporting legend that is Joey Chestnut. The champion hot-dog eater won the annual Nathan’s Fourth of July competition by gulping down 75 hot dogs in 10 minutesto win his 13th title. He also beat his own record, which had been 74.

I propose we ignore the thread starter and name each country's greatest athlete. @heels1785 please choose an appropriate title to reflect this topic

Particularly interested in hearing non-Americans name their country's greatest athlete. Want that local perspective.

    Argentina - Maradona
    Australia - Rod Laver
    Austria - Arnold Schwarzenegger
