Former Cream / Clapton (and Bee gees) manager Robert Stigwood has died. http://ultimateclassicrock.com/robert-stigwood-dies/
Clapton is massively overrated as a guitarist in my opinion. His success has been at creating material that has become commercially successful.
Dear me, no! There's nothing wrong at all with Clapton's music, I enjoy some of it, and I acknowledge that he is a pretty decent guitarist. As for guitarists I would rate more highly, are we talking living?
Ok, I shouldn't knock him so much I guess. It just gets to me when he is elevated to 'god' level when it is so so subjective. Guitarists I enjoy listening to who I right most highly - Django Reindhart Charlie Christian Tony Rice Robert Johnson Albert Lee My most recent discovery is a country and bluegrass prodigy called Trey Hensley. He plays electric like Stevie Ray Vaughn or steroids and acoustic like the devil. Other honourable mentions...Tommy Emmanuel, Hendrix, Chet Atkins...
Not really a huge Clapton fan outside of Cream, but there have been some gems here and there that have kept me having a casual appreciation of his music. This is one of them:

Clapton's solo records were always hit or miss for me. But Unplugged was one of the better ones that, ironically, was acoustic. Not a Stratocaster in sight.
A few songs are about to be live streamed from Eric Clapton's LA concert. https://www.facebook.com/chase/vide...5zhROZctO81i4Z_p_ZxFUtna3JBS97GqBiUFtymca5ga4
