Oceania Going Rogue

The wait is almost over. We have a little over a fortnight to go and tickets are finally on sale.

Who here is going to the opening midnight session?

 

Unfortunately I won't be attending a midnight session. Depending on if a babysitter can be found, I want to get to the first session Thursday morning.

 

I will be there in Melbourne - hope to stay awake.

 

Got my tickets midnight launch ! Really excited now!!

 

Tickets booked for 9.45am Thursday Dec 15th. Managed to get babysitter and day off work

 

Yay!

I've got my tickets secured for the midnight. Got better seats than I had with TFA so I am not sitting in the very front row this time around.

 

I have midnight gold class at Rhodes cinema, 10am next day at Miranda then 8:30pm that night at Blacktown Drive In.

Will probably watch once a day after that like I did for TFA, obviously depending on how much I like it.

Excitement levels are ramping up as we get closer to release.

Just a note that we can use spoiler tags after we have seen it.

 

Good point, I spend so much time in the SA boards that I forget others aren't as inclined!

 

Anyone more excited for Rogue One than TFA?

 

First midnight session sold out at my local cinema, they've put on a second session.

 

I have been more excited for Rogue One than I had for TFA.

It is hard to put down in words exactly why… though one factor is that the media hype is not overwhelming and drawn out like it had been for TFA.

 

I'd say I'm more excited for Rogue One also. It'll be because of the timeline no doubt. Just from what I've seen from a couple of the trailers, the aesthetics of everything is screaming OT.

 

That definitely is another factor and some bridging/blending of the two trilogies.

We've only had hints of this period too with some of the games and the Star Wars Radio Drama. Now we get to see how it comes together.

 

Anyone pre-ordered the Rogue One OST?

 

I aim to get the iTunes version when it becomes available.

Very keen on hearing how Michael Giacchino does it. I did enjoy his work for Jurassic World.

 

I've pre-ordered it, picking it up Friday. I've been a fan of his since playing the Medal of Honor games on the PS1. His recent Star Trek and Jurassic World scores have been brilliant

 

I remember hearing how he started off doing the music for The Lost World video game and how Spielberg brought him on board. I thought it was great how years later he to got to return to the Jurassic universe with Jurassic World.

 

He was definitely my pick of composer for Star Wars if Williams didn't come back.

I've got my red Rogue One shirt ready for tomorrow. I won't be cosplaying though.

 

He would be on my list of composers too. I wish Joel Goldsmith was still around as I know he would come up with amazing things if he was doing music for SW.

I haven't decided just yet which one I'll be wearing for my screening though I won't be cosplaying either. Which Rogue One shirt have you got?

The Australian Premiere is currently underway at Fox / Entertainment Quarter.

So what did everyone think?

 

I thought it was great.

Spoiler free impressions. It felt different yet familiar. Took me a little bit to get into it when they were setting things up but once it was set, just great from there on. Tons of surprises in there too which was unbelievable and some of the things in there I had been wishing to see for years now. I really need to watch it again.

 

I liked it a lot but for me TFA was the superior film.

It's a bit frustrating really, the great bits were really great but some of the bad bits were super bad.

Highlights - all the rebel alliance meeting bits, the space dogfights, Krennic and Galen.
